What is Pay with Venmo?

Pay with Venmo allows you to use your Venmo account to check out on participating websites and mobile apps. You can pay using your Venmo balance, bank account, or a linked debit/credit card.

The Venmo app is only available in the United States. However, the Venmo Debit Card can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted.

What are the requirements for using Venmo?

To create a personal account, you must be a resident of the United States or one of its territories, be at least 18 years old or the age of majority in your state of residence and use a cellular/wireless telephone number that you own.

How can I sign up for a Venmo account?

  2. Open the Venmo app

  3. Choose your sign-up method and create a secure password

  4. Verify your phone number and email address

  5. Add and verify your bank account

Where can I link Venmo to my Ulta Beauty account?

You can link (or unlink) your Venmo account at any time by going to the Shopping Bag when you’re signed into your Ulta Beauty account.

You can also unlink your Ulta Beauty account in the Venmo app by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Me tab by tapping your picture or initials
  2. Tap on the Settings gear
  3. Tap Connected Businesses and select the merchant you would like to disconnect
  4. Tap Discontinue payments at the bottom of the page

Disconnecting the merchant will prevent them from being able to charge your Venmo account in the future unless you reconnect them later when authorizing a new purchase. Please note that any pending transactions will continue to be processed, and you are responsible for any currently pending charges on your Venmo account.

Can I change or add a payment method during checkout?

Yes, you can select your payment method during checkout and use your existing Venmo account balance or another form of payment. You can also add new payment methods during checkout as well. When you update your payment method for a single payment, it will automatically become your default for future payments. Learn more about adding payment methods here.

Do I need the Venmo app to use Pay with Venmo?

Yes, you need to have an account with Venmo and the Venmo app installed and be logged in. When checking out on mobile, you'll be redirected to the app to authorize payment.

Can I use Pay with Venmo on desktop?

Yes! If you're logged into your Venmo account and select Venmo at checkout, you can complete your transaction on desktop. You may be prompted to scan a QR code with your phone to approve the purchase.

What if I don’t see Venmo as an option under the ‘Payment’ tab?

Ensure you update your Ulta Beauty and Venmo apps for the latest releases. Check the iOS App Store or Android Play Store for the latest version info. If the app has an update available, you'll have the option to tap 'Update'.

Is there a fee for using Pay with Venmo?

No, there is no fee for consumers to use Pay with Venmo.

Can I split a purchase with friends when using Pay with Venmo?

You can split payments with friends in the app and create a Venmo Group to split payments. Learn more here.

What is the refund policy if I split the payment with someone else? Do they get their refund directly?

The original buyer will receive the full refund and can then share the refund amount using the Venmo app.

What happens if I don't have enough balance in my Venmo account?

If you don't have enough balance in your Venmo account when making a purchase, Venmo will automatically pull funds from your default backup funding source - such as a bank account, debit card, or credit card. If you do not have a backup funding source selected, Venmo will ask you to add one to your wallet. Note that you can check or change your backup funding source in the Venmo app by going to Me > Settings > Payment Methods.

Venmo Refunds

If your transaction was declined, please note that Venmo refunds can take 1 - 30 business days to be processed depending on the payment method you used. Please contact Venmo support for more information on refunds.

We also utilize fraud detection and monitoring to help detect suspicious activity. Venmo also notifies you of all transactions in near real-time and allows you to review, track, and manage your purchases in the Venmo app.
