Most Helpful Positive Review extra body and shine
Just wanted to remind Faith from Georgia that this product is a conditioning rinse, NOT shampoo. Therefore, it isn't supposed to lather. Paul Mitchell makes great products and the best part is that they aren't tested on animals.
Most Helpful Critical Review Definitely does make your hair thicker... and greasier
I decided to purchase this product because I have made the switch to cruelty free products. I have been using it for a little over a week. I already have thick hair, but I did not pay attention when the bottle said it was for fine hair, because in my experience, conditioners always say they'll thicken hair and don't have much of an effect.
Well, I'll believe Paul Mitchell from now on. My hair is much thicker now. But unfortunately, as others have mentioned, it's unbearably greasy and it feels gross to run my fingers through my hair now. I read a review that says the residue protects the hair from heat, but I flat ironed my hair today and the greasy-ness honestly made the process very unpleasant. My lip is curled up as I write it, remembering how gross my hair felt. I felt like I was doing something very wrong by heating up that residue and pressing it deeper into my hair.
Perhaps I should rinse more thoroughly or use it only a few times a week, but I have used conditioner daily my entire life and I have never had this problem before. I think conditioner should be simple. I don't think I should make a bunch of behavioral changes to make a product work.
It smells great, and I do intend to try Paul Mitchell again, because I think the company has integrity and I've heard great things from my hair stylist friends. Unfortunately, I won't be repurchasing this line of his products.

DO NOT PURCHASE
this is the worst shampoo and conditioner I have ever purchased. It leaves my hair dry, frizzy and super oily. I feel like I haven't washed it in days even though I just got out of the shower.
I really wished I had read the reviews and not wasted my $. This was not cheap and I purchased both shampoo and conditioner
DO NOT BUY, WORST SHAMPOO/CONDITIONER EVER!!!
Good product for fine hair
Penny wise from Overland Park Ks
I purchased both the Extra Body Shampoo &
Extra Body Conditioner in trial sizes! My first try I used both which I feel wasn't necessary for my hair. I next used the Extra Body Conditioner after Paul Mitchell "Shampoo One" and my hair had the extra body which I need. I always take my hairdresser' advice to inky use a small amount!!
My hair texture feels somewhat better and I will continue with the conditioner ...so far so good😊
Note: sometimes when posting a review I've noticed some post under the wrong product such as posting a review on shampoo under the subject of "conditioner".

a very waxy, heavy feel for a volume conditioner. It also stinks like an unscented wax candle. =( My hair does have body but I can't get past the awful smell.
I love Paul Mitchell products

It's just the best product for my hair. I love the after effects
DreaBoBeya from PNW
I left a similarly negative review for the shampoo but the conditioner isn't spectacular either. It left my hair feeling very greasy and heavy. This did not help with volume. My hair felt like I'd never washed it as soon as I used this shampoo/conditioner. Do not waste your money. Hask does a way better job for $6.
Sue from Florida
My hair is wavy and thin. This conditioner doesn't weigh it down, but gives it body and shine, and smells great.
Leaves hair feeling greasy and hard to brush/style.
Meighan from Wisconsin
I dont put it on my scalp, however, my hair still feels greasy after washing it with the shampoo and using this conditioner. I've tried rinsing it, more, to get as much product out, but it still feels greasy and weighs my hair down. It makes it super difficult to style, whereas normally my hair is easy to blow dry and straighten. I would not recommend this product for fine, curly hair.
Pretty good at detangling
Abby from McKinney TX
I've had this hanging around under the sink for ages and can't remember why it didn't get used in the past, but I really like it. Could be because as the greys are coming in, I have the wiry drys on top of straight fine hair that's long and tangles awful. I generally don't use Paul Mitchell shampoo, shampoo one for example breaks my hair. But it was pretty built up and gunky so I used the PM awapuhi shampoo with it . Normally I like Joico Moisture Recovery shampoo, but if it's been more than two days you won't get the grease off. I'm reading these comments and I haven't tried the matching shampoo, but my experience with volumizing products are that they're drying. And my experience with PM shampoos are once in awhile crocodile. Me thinks it may be the shampoo and conditioner combo. The awapuhi one is the only one I've had luck with. So you might try using that with this conditioner and have better luck. It detangled like a dream for me, it's definitely soft and bouncy. I'm still not giving up my Joico , but for days when I need things a little lighter, this is a darn good combination. Good luck, gals. Hair peace to you all.

I was so excited to finally try this conditioner since it said it was great at detangling! but it was honestly the WORSE! when I first bought it the bottle felt half empty! you have to use so much product for it to actually detangle but when you put it on it feels so rough and horrible! once its try it's still rough, doesn't detangle at all and leaves your hair feeling nasty oily! wouldn't recommend this product! definitely going to go back to my $5 conditioner at a local drug store!!
I would buy this again and again

This is a Christmas gift.
extra body and volume
Miss Chrissy from Okeana OH
This product added extra body without drying out my hair like other shampoos do that I have used for volume.
I would buy this again!
Liz G from TX
I use this product in the shower after shampooing. It adds volume to my fine textured hair. Then after I towel off my hair, I add one more product (Paul Mitchell Curls) to control frizz.
Wish I traded it in.

I bought this during their Jumbo sale and I really wish I returned it sooner because I missed the deadline. At first I noticed that my hair really started to thicken up and looked so different than what I was used to with my long straight thin hair. Then I started noticing that I couldn't brush it, wet or dry. And now, it is starting to look stringy and unhealthy but it still has great volume. I was trying to give it a chance but wish I returned it and got another volumizing conditioner when I had the chance.
Made my hair feel DISGUSTING
CallOfBeauty from San Jose
I love the Paul Mitchell products even though it's not "the best professional" hair brand, but this conditioner made my hair feel DISGUSTING. When it's wet you can't really tell but once your hair dries it feels so oily/greasy and dirty. My hair didn't feel silky smooth like other conditioners but instead it was easily tangled (pretty much right away after a brushing). At first I thought I left some in my hair but I tried using it about 5 more times and it still felt the same.
If you don't like a conditioner you can always use it as shaving cream!
Kshusia from Co
This lightweight product does a miracle. I can tell the difference immediately . Lots of hair products claim to be " volumizing", but this one truly performs

Give me Lots of Body.
Not what I expected
LalaB from Kansas City
I was hoping this product would give me a lightweight lift. When used alone and blow dried my hair feels dry and constantly tangled. Even with no product. At first I thought maybe I didn't rinse good enough but the next wash was the same. It also left a weird thick residue at my scalp.
I gave 3 stars because it does lift but I only use if I curl my hair or wear it up. I cannot use this product if I leave my hair down and straight
My favorite conditioner
Beachbum14 from North Myrtle Beach
Love this conditioner. Use it daily

Okay... So I bought this solely because Ulta was out of the large bottles of Biolage Matrix Detangling Solution... I had assumed it would probably be similar... I was wrong. If you are looking for a product that will give you GREAT volume, then this is for you! It most definitely meets the mark in that category. However, I don't really believe this should be advertised as any type of detangling product, because it doesn't really do that. And yes, it does feel like it almost leaves a film on your hair; it makes the back of my hair feel (and look) pretty greasy. With Biolage, I would only wash my hair every 4 days. With this, I can't really go more than 1 or 2. I use a conservative amount and make sure to thoroughly rinse my hair, but it doesn't seem to help.
I would not recommend
On the beach from Long Beach
First of all I have long, thick, wavy, and frizzy hair. This product left my hair feeling like I haven't washed it in days. I would wash and then blow dry and then attempt to braid my hair in pain. My hair and this product do not go together! I was not happy with the result at all.
WEIRD FILM IN HAIR
Molly from Phoenix
Literally the worst conditioner/rinse/whatever it is I have ever used. Leaves this gross, weird film in your hair that makes it so difficult to style or even run your fingers through, makes dead ends appear even worse, just all around a mess. Will be going back to biolage.
Works great for thick hair
Hope from Jacksonville, FL
This product is awesome! Works great for thick hair, and helps to detangle all the knots!
Works but leaves residue
Katie from Seal Beach, CA
I love the way this smells, and it does a good job at thickening my fine hair, but I don't like the residue it leaves in my hair. In my opinion, it's not worth it.
Love this product
Hyorinmaru from Long island ,New York
I used this all the time I can't go back to any other product . It made my hair strong and thick looking
Terrible for my fine hair
Stacy from York, PA
I purchased this "extra body" formula shampoo and conditioner for my fine hair and it did nothing but leave my hair a dull, weighed down, tangled mess. I was quite shocked at how bad this made my hair feel. I will be returning it ASAP.
