Most Helpful Positive Review First step in a double cleanse
I used to rub my face with makeup remover wipes— please don't do that to yourself— until I started noticing fine lines around my mouth and eyes. I started learning from a dermatologist that you really shouldn't use makeup wipes at all. So I decided to try this cleansing balm I saw Trixie Mattel use on her YouTube channel. Omg you guys this works so amazing! It doesn't bother my eyes at all and I am very sensitive. I wet my face with a water mister and then apply a small amount of the balm to my face with circular motions. I work to break up all the makeup and sunscreen I've worn for the day. Then I rinse my face and neck with warm water until it feels decently clean. Then I wash my face and neck again with CeraVe SA cleanser. Don't skip out on double cleansing or else you will definitely break out. This stuff wasn't meant to stay on your skin, it's only meant to breakup the makeup. After I'm done washing I put on CeraVe moisture cream from the tub. My skin has never looked better. I don't have makeup residue leftover with this routine. I will have to purchase the full size when this one runs out.
Most Helpful Critical Review Too uncomfortable to use... am I doing it wrong?
I have a roommate who loves this stuff and uses it every day for her mascara and winged liner, so I thought I'd buy a trial size and give it a go. I assumed based on all of the reviews that it would take my eye makeup RIGHT off, would not be uncomfortable for my eyes, and it would not take a lot of product per use. Well... none of those were true for me, which makes me seriously wonder if I'm somehow doing it wrong. I've used it about five times now to remove my eye makeup (which doesn't include waterproof products, just the regular stuff). Each time requires about a thumbnail's "chunk" of product for EACH eye. I know that the full size product is far larger and that is a relatively little amount for that size, but I guess I expected to need one chunk total rather than per eye. The application of it feels time consuming as well; it takes the better part of 60 seconds before I can tell that my lashes are free of mascara. My standard micellar-water-on-makeup-wipes doesn't take as long, especially since this balm has to be wiped or rinsed off as well. Finally, in every use of it so far, it get in my eyes. It seems like it's almost necessary for it to get in your eyes: I can tell that my lashes still have mascara on UNLESS I sliiiightly open my eye to massage the product in from underneath my lash line. (If I don't, it doesn't get fully removed.) The sensation of having this balm in my eye is too uncomfortable for me to ignore. It's true that it doesn't STING the eyes, but it definitely is noticeable and whenever I can tell it's in my eye I immediately want to wash it off. It makes me wonder how my roommate and beauty youtubers can tolerate using it with their eyes open. And even on days when I was determined to avoid getting it in my eyes, by keeping my eyes shut tight and ignoring the mascara at the roots of my lash line, it still would.
I've been wearing mascara and eye contacts for years and am used to having things in and near my eyes, but this just isn't for me.

My mom loves using "Take the day Off". She said it is the best make up remover ever. Her skin feels hydrated and soft.

The effect is good, I will continue to buy after use

It did take my make up off a bit but didn't really do my eyes so good. The thing that bothered me most is that it had a weird smell.
Good but not my favorite.

The product works well however it's very pricey. I'd rather spend my money on nice make up then remover! Physicians Formula is equally good if not better for 1/3 the price!
Not my favorite

This was my first time using a cleaning blam.
I don't have anything to compare it too.
It did take off my makeup and it doesn't feel oily on my skin.
It did not take off my waterproof mascara maybe it's not supposed to? I don't know but that's one of the reason why I bought it
Great for sensitive skin and worth the price.

I used cleansing balms before but I like this one the best. I have a lot of redness, oily skin and got white heads all over my chin because what I was using although good products, where not good with my skin type. Dr. Dray on YouTube recommended this product. You can feel all the grime and makeup come right off. I double cleanse at night with it and a neutrogena ultra gentle cleanser and follow up with cerave night cream. It helped me get rid of whiteheads and my redness went away in a week. I even look younger. A little goes a long way. A travel size will last you a month. It feels like a bargain. Totally worth my pennies.

I have been reading about this product over the last couple of months and was intrigued by all the wonderful reviews. Up until now, I had been using micellar water to remove my makeup at night before I washed my face, but it would cause my eyes to burn and I don't think it was removing all of my makeup, either. I live in Florida so I'm very careful about using sunscreen daily under my makeup and I was also concerned the micellar water wasn't removing all the sunscreen either. Historically, I have oily, breakout prone skin, but I'm pushing 54 years old and my skin has definitely become a bit drier as I've aged but I am still concerned that using heavy, greasy products will make my skin breakout. When I first received this product, I thought it looked way too greasy and was the consistency of Crisco, but it's an amazing product. It easily breaks down all your makeup and then magically disappears when you splash with water. It leaves your skin extremely clean and soft feeling, but I do follow with a cleanser as well. I have experienced no problems with extra oiliness or breakouts due to this product. Actually, I'm obsessed with it, so much so that I bought this travel size so that I can easily bring it with me when I travel.

I was sooooo impressed when I first used this. I had on a full face of makeup that I wore for a few hours; I followed the instructions to massage the balm on the face and washed it off with warm water. And when I say that it works, it really does work! I did a few swipes across my face with a dry facial tissue just to check, and there was no trace of any makeup. I've used it a few more times since, and it hasn't failed me. It also doesn't dry out my skin. The only part of my face that it doesn't quite get are my lash lines, but that's probably mostly just me scared to get too close to my eyeballs with that balm. I just go in and use a makeup removing towel for the rest and then do my skin care routine. Amazing product!
Great for sensitive skin

Started doing the double cleanse with this first to help with the redness on my skin. This works great and does not worsen my oily sensitive skin. A little goes a long way. Good value for the price.

It doesn't take off eye makeup very well.
Gave me a stye
Aly from Baltimore, MD
The first few times I used this product, I really liked it. It was the first step for double cleansing when I wore makeup. However, a few days later after using it a few days in a row, I got a bad stye on my eye from it. I stopped using it and waited for the stye to go away. Tried the balm a month or so after the stye was gone and got one again. This is with using another cleanser afterwards.

I love this product! I also buy samples to test out first and love they offer this. This works perfect for removing waterproof mascara without the harsh rubbing. It feels amazing on my face without breaking me out or drying my skin out.
Eh, not a dupe
Amanda from Farmington, MI
Don't get me wrong, the Clinique Take The Day Off is a good cleansing balm. I ordered the travel size to get a feel for how much I like it before I invested in the regular size, good amount of product for the price and a little goes a long way. Definitely getting your money's worth.
I've been using Esée Lauder Advanced Night Micro Cleansing Balm which is #1 in my book. I read somewhere that this Clinique cleansing balm has the exact same ingredients as the EL, minus a few. Apparently they have the same parent company so that makes sense. However - this is NOT a dupe. Something about this doesn't work quiet as well as EL. It doesn't remove mascara like EL, nor does it leave my skin feeling as smooth. After some scrubbing and a second cleanse (which I do after makeup removal anyway), the mascara was cleaned and my face felt fresh again.
All in all, I would recommend this for sure. It just isn't as good as the EL cleansing balm.
makeup remover without a greasy feeling

My skin is type 3 or 4, this makeup remover is incredible because it removes all the makeup and moisturizes without a greasy feeling

I had heard a few people talk about this product and decided to give it a try so I bought the travel size to see what I thought before buying the regular size. I honestly would rather use this product at the end of the day to take my makeup off than makeup remover wipes. It's not messy at all and cleaned up my face super fast! You also get a lot of product in the travel size so I can only imagine how long you can use the product in the regular size container before it runs out! 100% I recommend and will be buying this product again!
I wanted to like this...

I usually getting the Farmacy makeup cleansing balm, but I lost it and thought I'd try this. This did nothing. It also didn't have a nice smell, and very drying. I love Clinique but this is not it.

This product really breaks down all of my makeup and removes mascara off of lashes. Love it, just wipe off after :)

Sad to say I had a horrible reaction to this product. I used to work for Clinique and remember using this on clients, so I went in for a try again. Sadly, it does remove makeup really well, but the ingredients are not great for sensitive skin.
Good but not the best

Still working through this product. It's thick but turns into an oil texture when applied and rubbed into face. I haven't seen a problem with it Yet.
It's not bad but there are better products out there
I would buy this again

Was surprised at the feel of this, does take everything off, but definitely use a washcloth to get rid of extra residue it leaves behind!
Hands down the best cleanser I've ever used!!

This works well in removing sunscreen, makeup and mascara. I follow up with a gentle face wash afterwards. I love it!
