I want to preface this review by saying that I'm nearly 42 years old, and it's only in the past couple of years that I felt like I didn't have the skin of a teenager. My skin is very oily, and until I finally figured out a routine that would work, was very prone to breakouts. With that being said, I was going to be very picky about changing my routine and trying a new product. My first impression of the Garnier Micellar Foaming Gel Cleanser upon feeling the thin consistency of the product was, "How is this really going to cleanse my skin?" I must say, it lives up to it's claims of gently removing my makeup. Even though it wasn't a thick as cleansers I've used in the past, it easily and gently cleansed my skin. I usually used a couple of pumps of product and gently massage it with water into my skin. After rinsing, my skin was clean, but not tight like harsher cleansers tend to make it. It was soft, supple and clean. I didn't feel like I still had makeup left behind on my skin. The one drawback (and the reason I'm rating this a 4/5) is that it didn't remove my eye makeup like I'd hope it would. It did break it down, but I was usually left with black smears around my eyes from where my mascara wasn't completely removed. In the before/after picture I've attached, I did use baby oil to remove my eye makeup before finishing with the Garnier Micellar Foaming Gel Cleanser. That combination worked well and made me feel like I was truly going to bed with a cleansed face. Overall, I didn't notice any negative changes to my skin. It felt clean, kept breakouts at bay, and didn't increase the oil production of my skin. This is definitely a new way of cleansing my face and I would recommend that others of all skin types try it as well.
I kept hearing great things about micellar water cleansers, and I'm always looking for simple and non drying ways to remove makeup and wash my face. I'm sorry but this was terrible. I very rarely wear mascara, which there is no WAY this would remove it if I did, this couldn't even remove eyeshadow. It's literally the worst "cleanser" I've ever used. I'm also not very prone to breakouts, and this caused me to breakout!! As in multiple zits!! I don't recall the last time I had ONE zit, let alone several! Judging by how it didn't remove makeup, I'm thinking it didn't remove anything at all, and the breakouts were probably caused my dirt, oil, and other buildup. I think the 10 days or so I used this was as if I didn't wash my face for 10 days!! It also smelled horrible. Sort of like perfume, but also sorta like just straight up "fumes", like turpentine or something?? Really weird. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, the pump broke off the first time I used it, and I was having to pour it out. All around horrible, I would never recommend this to a friend or even an enemy.

I have found that this is gentle enough on skin, but removes all the make up

This was my first time trying any of the SkinActive Micellar line. I was very pleased. There are no harsh smells or chemicals. It left my skin feeling clean without excessive dryness that has followed in the past.

I recently got another facial piercing so I was looking for a cleanser that was fragrance free and light. I absolutely love this. I use a different makeup remover to remove My eye makeup and just use this as a standard in-shower cleanser. It's gentle, great for all skin types (including sensitive skin) and leaves my face feeling clean. I usually use 2 pumps, foam it up in my hands cleanse my face and wash. Then continue washing my hair / body and finish my shower off with another 2 pumps and the same process (foam in hands, cleanse and wash off) and I absolutely love this. I would definitely recommend using this more so for cleansing + removing any makeup residue that may be left behind from using your regular makeup remover. 10/10 cleanser, however I'm not sure how great it would be removing a full face of makeup on its own- however that's not how I'm using the product so it works well for me and what I need!! Highly recommend! (I included a photo of the makeup remover I use before using this cleanser, combined they are a magic duo!!

I was devastated when my favorite cleanser was recently discontinued, and I've been on a quest since then. I tried the regular micellar water by Garnier, but using it correctly was rough (basically, you can't just swipe it on the way you would a toner; you have to use soaked cotton pads to "wash" the skin like you would use your fingers and hands with a soap cleanser, and that kind of friction on my skin, even with the gentlest cotton, created some redness on my reactive skin). With this gel in-shower product I have found my answer at last! This cleans well but does not strip the skin, which is very important for me and is a feature that many people don't understand. In years past, we've cleaned ourselves with such harsh products that we've learned crave lots of bubbles, lots of slip, a squeaky you-could-eat-food-off-this-body-it's-so-clean kind of feeling…but that is TERRIBLE for our skin! This cleanser helps get the unwanted stuff off the skin, but maintains a healthy moisture barrier and keeps all the good stuff. It's not great removing waterproof makeup, but regular cleansers rarely are; you need special makeup remover solutions for that. But for general day to day use, this is the thing! It's not a thick gel, and one pump will usually suffice for a face full of light makeup and/or sunscreen. Of note, there are two formulas (one in pink and one in green), but the ingredient lists are identical. (Also, I've found that it is miraculous in cutting through that weird film that deodorant leaves behind. In the shower, I wash my face with this, then my pits, and all skin is fresh and happy!)
