If you doubt the olfactory prowess of any of the Sauvage scents I will tell you what to do. I purchased the EDP first and while it's my favorite of the Sauvage line now. When I received my bottle I was like oh no this isn't strong enough. I even reached out to support about it. They were like u...mmmm… NO !! So I was like ok I'll order the Sauvage Elixir because it's supposed to be so strong and smell incredible. So I get my order of elixir and I do a spray test and yes it's much more potent but it is a scent all of its own. If you are used to EDT and move up to Elixir it's going to smell like an entirely different scent!!! I feel that the EDT has the most "grapefruit" or "citrus" top notes going on. The elixir however has a much more "mature" presence in my opinion. It's very very powerful. And back to my story of how I realized that it was me and NOT Dior Sauvage that wasn't right. This is what you do to really experience what your Sauvage purchase and other colognes in your stable smell like to other people when you wear them. So I have a 9 year old son, I'm a single father and him and I are thick as thieves lol. I love my son more then life itself. So of course I keep him looking fly 3rd grader or not!! He tells me he wants me to hit him with some cologne on his way out the door for school. So I'm like ok buddy. He says he wants to wear the one I'm always wearing. I have 5-6 different scents but the Sauvage is my current favorite. It bumped off Carolina Herrara CH men for the top spot. The OG version of that CH men was my go to for years. I loved the way it smelled on me!! Anyway so my son starts wearing Sauvage EDP to school daily. Just a couple sprays. I asked him did anyone comment that he smelled good ? He said yes Ms McCarthy ( his 3rd grade teacher and a certified smoke show hot for teacher babe also lol ). And now she has this kid smelling like what she wished he man smelled like lol. ANYWAY. I started to smell the Sauvage on my son when he got home or if we went out somewhere on the weekend. Then I stopped wearing it on myself and still putting it on him and BOOM !! It was a total epiphany!! That Sauvage smells awesome on my kid !!! He was long past smelling it on himself anymore (nose blind). But it was still going strong to other people who where in smell distance of him. This was when I realized that we go noseblind to our scents so so quickly !!! And why that one guy smells like he bathed in Versace Eros lol. And smell straight straight offensive lol. So yes I was not truly able to appreciate how the Sauvage EDP smelled until I was smelling it on someone else WITHOUT spraying it on myself. The ultimate test for the Elixir was when one day I sprayed him up w it and we were just chilling at home playing on the PS5. After an hour or so after the scent had its dry down / cool down period, I really got to experience the full scent profile of Elixir and how gauge just how much is the perfect amount to spray and where in the body. It's any incredible scent but as my Pitbull will attest to. If you spray to much that stuff will be way to strong and unpleasant!! But applied properly and responsibly people can't help but want to catch another whiff of that mysterious scent your wearing !! Elixir is something I like to wear when I go out (exceedingly rare that happens lol) or when I go to run errands especially to the market !! The single moms always comment on it. But I get just as many guys asking me what cologne I am wearing cause they know that it smells delicious !!! The EDP is better suited for workplace or being indoors. It still has that opening with the grapefruit and still smells like "Sauvage". I've also experimented with spraying the elixir on my skin after I'm dry from the shower with a non scented lotion on my skin before I get dressed. Then after that's dried I will dress and then finish with the EDP sprays on my clothes. I think it ends up bringing out the best of both worlds. I dunno, I hope my speedball fueled ramblings have helped you to understand how to better understand the scents you wear !! And remember being noseblind to a scent is a real thing and can happen quicker then you think. My last piece of advice I'll leave you with is this. If you really love to smell your fav scent on yourself. Save your cologne and spare the people around you and simply put a spray on the back of your hand!!! You can go back to it and get the full effect any time amd as many times as you like. When I do this with the elixir, I can wash my hands after it's been in there a few hours and I can STILL smell the elixir on there after drying my hands!! Do I need to wash my hands better ? No not at all. The Sauvage Elixir is really just that good!! So yeah def go get you some!!!
