How To Use

PREP

Pro Tip! Do not soak hands or wet them before or during your prep. Dry nails are crucial for proper adhesion.

  1. Shape nails using the Shape Up side of the file in your Gel Essentials Kit or a regular nail file.
  2. Gently push back cuticles from your nail plate using the wood cuticle pusher in your kit or any regular pusher.
  3. Lightly buff with the Shape Up side of your 240 grit file from your kit or any regular nail file to remove the shine from your nails. Think gentle exfoliation, not construction work!
  4. Wipe your nails with the Prep Pad from your kit or 99% Isopropyl Alcohol on a lint-free wipe--not cotton balls which can leave debris that'll mess with your gel finish. This removes debris and oil, and temporarily dehydrates your nails, creating the perfect foundation for strong adhesion.

Pro Tip! Do not apply any hand creams or oils until AFTER your top coat is cured.

APPLICATION

Pro Tip! Do one hand at a time and keep coats THIN. We're not frosting a cake. Most importantly, keep gel OFF skin.

  1. Set up your lamp. Using dry hands, plug the included USB cable into a standard USB wall charger and connect it to a wall outlet, or plug it into a laptop.
  2. Shake ALL your bottles really well for 30 seconds to blend the ingredients together.
  3. GELement Base Coat: Start by painting the free edge, then apply a THIN coat down the center, followed by each side. Make sure you avoid getting gel on your cuticles and skin by leaving a small space around the perimeter of the nail.
  4. Cure: Insert 4 fingers all the way into your lamp. Hit the button and wait 60 seconds for the light to turn off. Then your thumb gets its solo moment for another 60 seconds.
  5. Color: Start by painting the free edge, then apply a THIN coat down the center, followed by each side. Keep away from skin!
  6. Cure: Insert 4 fingers all the way into your lamp. Hit the button and wait 60 seconds for the light to turn off. Then your thumb gets its solo moment for another 60 seconds.
  7. Repeat steps 5-6 for a second coat.
  8. GELement No-Wipe Top Coat: Start by painting the free edge, then apply a THIN coat down the center, followed by each side. Keep away from skin!
  9. Cure: Insert 4 fingers all the way into your lamp. Hit the button and wait 60 seconds for the light to turn off. Then your thumb gets its solo moment for another 60 seconds.
  10. Show those nails some love with Glow Up Nail & Cuticle Oil! Just a drop at each cuticle line will help moisturize your skin. For full tutorials and tips and tricks on how to prep, apply, and remove your gel, head to YouTube to watch GELiversity.

I think once I get the hang of it, it will be perfect. Gel polish is definitely a learning curve but the videos are very helpful and gives you a lot of important information. The key is to make sure you are doing thin layers so it cures properly; if your layers are too thick it will not cure properly. You can always do a third coat of the color before moving to the top coat if you feel your layers were too thin. I have only used the opi gelement polish with it so I would not be able to speak on using other brands but honestly opi is a great brand.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

I had high hopes for this starter kit! But immediately had issues. The instructions state to allow gel to cure for 30 seconds. The lamp has a timer which is nice but after 30 seconds the base coat was not cured. I reset the timer but after a minute it still hadnt cured. I got up to 3 mins and still had a sticky wet finish. Will be returning.

Lamp does NOT work

I was so excited to do my nails with this kit. I normally use my Beetles polish and off brand lamp so i boyght this thinking i was going to upgrade my nail game. The top coat and base coat are amazing 10/10 The lamp itself is super small - only fit 4 fingers and not my thumb. Theres only lights on the very top and didnt cure the sides at all. Also the lamp only has 1 button with no control for how long it cures for. I had to click the button and sit through 3 cycles just for it to be cured. I had to use my other lamp just to ensure that the gel was actually curing because i dont trust the lamp. Unfortunately i will be returning this kit.

Would not recommend, will be returning

The lamp had to be unplugged and plugged in each time you wanted to turn it on. Most difficult when you are trying not to bump freshly painted nails. The top coat is the most putrid smelling nail product I have ever used, the smell is stays around for awhile. The top coat is very thick which makes it difficult to paint on a thin layer. The base coat has a super small brush, but that actually was nice and increased the item to a 2 star.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend
