What's the difference between the 239s shader brush and the 242s shader brush? I have both but am unsure which is better for application of mac paint pot (i use painterly as base primer) and top with darker shades in crease with either cream sticks or powdered shades (powders for nighttime looks when i want more intense colors). I have dry eyes and wear contacts so i have to choose my eyeshadow application carefully to keep my eyelid margins healthy.

- Official Answer By MACMAC 239 Synthetic Brush is perfect for more detailed shading of your cream or powder shadow as it has a slightly rounded edge and it's a smaller. It's perfect for detail mainly on the eyelid. MAC 242 Synthetic Brush is firm and rounded and smaller, almost like a concealer brush, and works very well with creams. For our Paint Pots out of all three definitely consider MAC 217 Synthetic Blending Brush as it's slightly more firm and amazing for buffing on creams and even our powder shadows!Was this answer helpful to you

MAC brushes never disappoint! This brush is the perfect size and shape for shading the outer "V" of my eye and deepening the crease. I've also used it to add shadow to the lower lash line and believe it to be extremely versatile.
A-MAZING!!!!
I love this brush a lot better than I imagined. I never thought a brush could make that much of a difference, but now that I have had this and been using it for a while, I don't know how I made it without it! It picks up color and spreads it so evenly and smooth. It really is a gamechanger when applying eyeshadow. I would but more just to have them on hand. Thanks MAC for this one.
Still the Best
I preferred the old MAC brushes before they went synthetic, they were so well made and I've had a few of mine for YEARS. However, once they made the switch, they just weren't the same. Major bummer. BUT I will say, the 239S brush is the only one I found to still be as good as the old version. It's just the perfect shader brush to apply your all over lid color or to wet and pack on shimmer shadows. It's the best, if you buy it, you won't be disappointed.

This is the best flat shader brush out there, period! I bought a second because I use this for every makeup application. Nothing will pack shadow on your lid like this brush, for high pigmentation, careful placement, whatever you need. Spray this bad boy with fix+ and apply a shadow for full pigment, it'll look just like it does in the pot. Can't recommend highly enough.

With every fiber of my being. I have gone through SO MANY eye shadow brushes and this is my number one favorite. I returned a much higher price point luxury eye shadow brush just because it simply wasn't as good as this one. I think I need another one for quick color changes and longevity. It's small, dense, and has the perfect /shorter length bristles. I have smaller hooded eyes and most are too big. The flatter, denser style of the bristles does a fantastic job of picking up shimmers that other brushes struggle with. Buy it now and thank me later lol.
