Most Helpful Positive Review No breakouts! FINALLY!
I was looking for sunscreen on a budget, (i.e. not wanting to shell out $22 bucks for a tiny bottle of shiseido) and CereVe checked all my boxes. I needed a mineral sunscreen rather than a chemical sunscreen specifically because my skin is so sensitive and can't normally handle the emulsifying agents. While this sunscreen does have a slight white cast, it's unavoidable since it uses titanium dioxide and zinc. That's okay though, it's a mild trade off for not having to deal with a break out every time I use sunscreen (which is hopefully daily from now on). I recommend this sunscreen to anyone who hasn't had luck with other mainstream brands in the past, this one is absolutely a diamond in the rough as long as you realize the trade off of chemical vs mineral sun care.
Most Helpful Critical Review Pros and cons
I wish I could like this. I love CeraVe in general and have many products of theirs that I love. I use their Ultra-Light Face Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 for my face daily without any issues. This, however, is not for me. Maybe it will work for you. I hope it does. It isn't for me, though.
This does NOT rub into the skin well. The lotion filled in every single line on the back of my hands, and every single little pore on my arms, and it would not massage into the skin. I'm glad I gave it a test run before using it to actually go into the sun for a full day. I was hoping this would be a replacement for another brand's SPF for the body, but I guess not. I suspect that mineral SPF and I do not get along, because I've had this issue with another mineral sunscreen that was meant for the face and it just sat on the skin, wouldn't blend, and settled into every line and pore. I'm sad that it's not working out, because I love so much else about it; it's fragrance free, and has SPF 50, and all the ingredients are great for the skin. Sadly, it won't blend or massage into the skin, which means it won't be effective for me if I can't get it to rub in.
So, if you are a person who has good luck with mineral suncreens then you will probably get along well with this product! If you're like me, then stay away from this.

It left my skin white and so dry
Not for dry skin
Jessk from Bakersfield, ca
I got this for the SPF 50. But when you apply it you get a white cast and you have to work a lot of it in your skin. And then I get white flakes on my skin. So maybe this would be better for oily skin
plump glowy skin
emmygrace from mississippi
in my experience, i have had very little white cast with this sunscreen, the am lotion is WAY worse on that front but i love this sunscreen! it makes my skin look plump and feels very hydrating
Amy from Cleveland, Ohio
This sunscreen has the worst white cast I've ever seen. I have porcelain, cool toned skin and this did not work for me. I tried to cover it with foundation but it looked ridiculously cakey. It's also very difficult to rub in. I love CeraVe but they really dropped the ball on this one.
Major white cast
Beginnerguru from Florida
It left a major white cast on my face and made it look dry and candy. Was excited to try out the cerave line but this sunscreen was a let down. :/
princessananda from Madison, WI
This product is terrible! It's not hydrating and made my skin so textured and gross. It's totally white on the face, and my skin can't breathe. Please don't buy this...most of its claims aren't true. The actual sunscreen part of the product works, but at what cost?? Scaly, white lizard skin??!!!

awful white cast and will not work on dry skin
Do you want to look like a ghost?
Fabis from Las Vegas
I'll like to warn the next person that this leaves a horrible white cast! So hard to even blend into the skin. I don't recommend this to wear under makeup.
Great for Eczema; Horrible for Faces
Rjroyals29 from Reading, PA
I bought this product to use on my (large) eczema patch on my stomach. Because it is there, it isn't as big of a deal that there is a white cast and it protected the area without irritating it; however, I used it on my face and it was very heavy and left a horrible white cast. I needed to double cleanse my face just for it to come off and I will never put this on my face again.
I would recommend for eczema patches that need protection, but I wouldn't recommend it to be an everyday sunscreen.
I will not be purchasing again

Does not blend well into my skin. I have super pale skin, yet it leaves a white cast still. It also dries weird making your skin look flaky.
Munsee from Ok
It is soooo hard to blend and the white cast is atrocious. Do. Not. Buy. I don't know how anyone could have approved this product.
Greasy Heavy and leaves awful White Cast.
Fair and greasy from WA
I hate this product. I am very fair and it leaves the worst white cast. I look like I'm trying to apply grease paint for clown makeup. I've actually worn greasepaint that's more comfortable than this product.
It feels heavy and sticky and greasy so your face just feels awful all day. It's also nearly impossible to rub this product in evenly, and if you try to put makeup over or have to reapply later forget about it, it just looks bad.
It's A No From Me
AB from PA
I am extremely pale and tried to use this when I wasn't self tanning and hadn't been outside at all. So in my prime paleness. And the white cast was still insane. Even after putting on concealer, I could still see the white peaking through. Since I already spent the money on this, maybe I'll try to mix it with the drunk elephant sunshine drops but even that (which I love) doesn't make me feel hopeful. Bummed because I love CeraVe and I'm always on the hunt for a really protective face sunscreen due to my complexion.
Need to mix with another moisturizer!!
MT from Napa, CA
If you mix this with another facial moisturizer it doesn't leave a white cast, you just can't use too much of this one alone and you really gotta work it in with that other moisturizer for this lotion to work and not leave a white cast! If you use it this way it works much better :)
White cast and NOT hydrating at all
Jass from TX
This is one of the worst SPF white casts I've ever dealt with and I'm pretty fair so I can't imagine what it would do to anyone with a darker complexion than mine. It also does not rub into the skin at all, it dries down super fast and isn't hydrating. I usually give things to family and friends that don't work out for me but this product will be going straight into the trash as I cannot see it working out for anyone.
Don't like this at all, am going to try and return it.

Would not purchase again and I am going to try and return.

I was so excited to try this product. I put it on right when I got home on clean skin, and I didn't like it. It's SO white, doesn't blend at all. It made my face feel so rough, literally felt like a drying mask on my face. I let it settle in before my makeup, and my foundation rolled and looked so cakey. I'm sad it didn't work for me cause I love cera ve.
insane whitecast (even for very white people)
Sunscreen Lover from Naples, FL
I love most other Cerave products but wow, I think this is the worst sunscreen I've ever used. It definitely protects the skin but leaves the absolute worst white cast, and is quite unpleasant to apply (thick and sort of tacky, difficult to spread). I have medium-toned skin so it looks terrible on me but on my partner as well, who is really quite pale. We don't want to waste it so we use it in quarantine, but both always laugh because we look so sickly when we wear it. He joked the other day that it looks like he is wearing lipstick since the white cast makes the contrast of his lips so intense. With so many other formulas out there that protect equally as well... I just can't see why anyone would ever repurchase this.
bailey from Virginia
I have very fair skin and this leaves a white cast on me. When I rub it in with my fingers, it solidifies and pills in strange swirl patterns. It absorbs better with a dense foundation brush, but is still difficult to work with.
Very effective spf
FleetwoodDreams from Roseville CA
I am the minority I guess because I actually love this spf. Yes it is casty but I NEVER get a burn while wearing this even if don't reapply after swimming. It is also very hydrating and makes my skin feels great and plump.
I enjoy it
Mac from Wichita, KS
This sunblock does have a cast, but i think its still good for when your hanging out with family and friends or when by yourself (when you wouldn't care about the cast). I use this sunblock along with 2 other spf products one of witch is tinted to help with the cast ( i use this when I go into town). The sunblock doesn't burn my eyes and has a matte finish. The sunblock prevents sunburns when applied every two hours, but it's important to remember with all sunblocks and sunscreens to not only apply every two hours, but to wear hats and to avoid the sun in general, because although this sunblock is good at what it does its still best to stay in the shad. Also, ALWAYS remember to wash it off at night no matter what, if you don't wash it off it will give you skin issues like acne(this is true with all sunblocks and sunscreens).
I think as long as you use it in ways thats best for you it'll be great and it's pretty affordable compared to other comparable sunblocks.
Severe White Cast and It Stays Sticky
Rose the Pale from Oklahoma
You can't deny that this sunscreen works (as long as you can keep it on your face), but at the expense of turning your face into a low budget Halloween decoration. I am so pale that many makeup brands don't carry a light enough shade for me, and it made even me look like the ghost of Christmas past. Even if that doesnt bother you, this sunscreen doesn't sink into your skin, so even a drop of water or sweat will wash it off and into your eyes. Would not recommend.
Do not buy
Rada C from Chicago, IL
I thought this was going to be good and didn't read reviews because it's CeraVe. Unfortunately it leaves a PURPLE cast on my face... I'm lookin like thanos ova here... no thanks
If you are a darker skin skin tone, please do not use!

I tried the product before I work out outside, I had to take it off immediately because of how bad the white cast was
