Most Helpful Positive Review One of my favs (from what I have tried)
I have large pores and of course, oily skin. I won the bad skin lottery. I have tried a lot of pore-minimizing primers that promise a lot of big things. I had never heard of this primer (but had heard of the brand). The Ulta rep recommended it to me after I explained my dissatisfaction with Benefit's Porefessional. She raved about it, mostly about its dermatological benefits. The price was a little steeper than I am used to paying for primer, but I wanted to give it a shot. It is definitely better than Porefessional. It covers better and it controls my oily shine (well more than any other pore-refining or minimizing primers I've tried). Although I have moved on to other primers (just because I am still in search of a miracle product), but I still keep a bottle of this on hand as a go-to when the others fail.
Most Helpful Critical Review Works Great Underneath
This primer has silicone in it. Me personally, I am not a fan of primers with silicone in them; in fact, I hate it. Therefore, this primer did not work out well for me. However, it refines pores and mattifies just like it said it is supposed to do. Oddly enough, the primer itself has an orange tone to it. I don't know if that is supposed to cancel out under eye circles or not, but it is strange. It mattifies my foundation when I put the primer underneath. However, in the directions, it says that you can put the primer under or over your makeup. It works great underneath, but when I tested the primer on top of my foundation, it made my foundation streaky and took away its pigment.

Shontelle recommenced this after my daily moisturizer, and I never would have gotten it without her help! Also, thank you for the pore reduction treatment- my face is looking like me again!
I would buy this product again and again!😍

My pores become dramatically less visible after using this. It leaves me with a great, smooth base for my foundation!

The price is a little more then what I am willing to pay but it does blur my skin. I bought this during Ulta's beauty sale and I an hoping it will go on sale this year again so I can stock up
Makes me break out
Vanessa from Los Angeles
Love how my makeup looked but I started noticing deep breakouts on the areas I was putting this on. I applied it multiple times to assure that this was making me breakout. I think it does great cover pores but it might be clogging them too.
Worked better than I expected

I was surprised that this product actually helped control my oil at least better than any other product I've used in the past. A little goes a long way. I don't particularly enjoy the smell. It's a little medicated (I guess it's the Salicylic Acid? I don't know).
Siberian Tiger from Frisco, TX
First time buyer for this product and I can't get over how good it is. This products controls the shine and almost vanishes my pores. Makes my skin look so smooth and helps the foundation just glide on.
Great for oily skin!

I usually buy the urban decay primer but decided to venture out and buy this one during the Ulta Beauty day sale. Oh em gee! It was worth it!
Would not buy again
Kate from Alabama
The product feels good on the skin but gave mine a yellow/ orange tint. My skin is more fair so it may look better on a different skin color. I wish you could choose the tint color.
Smoothes pores and no breakout

I saw Sona Gasparian use this in one of her tutorials and saw that she used it consistently to minimize pores on the cheeks. When someone uses something consistently you know it's good. You have to use a very little amount and it really gives a smooth surface for makeup application. I love Sona and really trust her recommendations. This one has really hit the mark.
It seem to be good!

I just started using this product. An influencer I follow in IG, #thesisterstudioig, uses it & just LOVES it. It was on sale, 50% off, so I thought I'd try it. I've used a lot of primers & a lot of them cause me to breakout, this one has NOT done that! It goes on really smooth & looks great under makeup! I have combination skin, just oily in the t-zone. It's a little pricey for me at it's normal price, so I'll probably only get it when it's on sale.
I'm in love

I got this in a Boxycharm a few years back and have yet to find any primer that even compares to it.
The absolute best primer for large pores!
Punkin7838 from Pennsylvania
I have some pretty bad enlarged pores on my chin and cheeks and some acne scarring to go along with it. I have a drawer full of primers and none even come close to this product. I will say the only downfall is having it stay put under liquid foundation. When using just this product with a finishing powder it is perfect!
Jillian from Albuquerque NM
I have pretty deep pores and also have excessive oils. I used to use the Porefessional primer and didnt thing I'd find anything that compared, well, Dr Brandt definitely does. It's my new holy grail. I feel like I use less product, it fills my pores way better, and feels less like makeup and more like a moisturizer. I wouldn't dream of using anything else. I'm thankful for the 50% off sale because I actually bought 2 and I woulda never tested it without the sale, so thank you Ulta.
I can't get past the smell
sky from Chicago
I'm not sure if it smells more like ant killer or pinsol. Leaves a slight burning feel on the skin too when you use it. It might be an okay primer but I can't get past the smell and the tingling sensation.
Heathmarie from Winston Salem
This is definitely not the same formula I fell in love with, BUT the people saying it smells like paint thinner or they had to "brace themselves" for the smell are being wayyyyyyy over dramatic lol. It smells like citrus like the face exfoliator and it fades almost right after application. Very faint smell. While this does hide my pores and does well keeping my face sweat proof and shine free, it doesn't blur imperfections, and it's a little hard to get any small pimples to conceal. I don't understand. I blame the formula change, 4 stars because of that reason but it's still a good primer. I
Major medical smell and simply DOESNT do anything
Jenn from Ia
Ive use a whole regular sized tube of this. Every time I have to brace myself for the smell. I used it all because this primer is very expensive! I dont see any difference honestly. Right now its half off and I still wouldn't waste my money

This has been my GO TO HOLY GRAIL FOR A LONG TIME!! And just as others said the formula DID CHANGE and not for the better!! I don't understand why they would change it. It was perfect before. NOW its smells like paint thinner, the consistency is different, it rolls up into this little dingle berry like clumps if you dont apply exactly the right way! Its harsh smelling and doesnt allow your makeup to be applied evenly as well as it did before. it splotched or smears and wont allow your foundation to seap in and trust me I know. I use Lancome feels good, it's more of a stain type application and it looks as is I used a cheap, very thin liquid foundation most days. Unless I have given myself ample to to get ready and slowly and meticulously put in on and then wait 30 minutes and possibly still have to blot before putting on my makeup. I still buy this product religiously seeing I hate change but I REALLY WISH THEY WOULDNT HAVE CHANGED IT AT ALL!! PLS CHANGE BACK TO OLD FORMULA
My HG Primer
Leslie from Reno, NV
I will have purchased this primer four times now. Its primary function is to get rid of / help with pores, and for me it delivers. As a secondary function, it does help with Mattifying a LITTLE bit, but that's not its primary function. And I see these people in comments griping that it doesnt keep their oils at bay -- it is NOT called Dr. Brandt's Oils No More Mattifying Primer (that also helps with pores) -- Its Dr. Brandt's PORES NO MORE PORE REFINING PRIMER (that also mattifies). You can't buy a product specifically designed for one thing and then dog it because it doesnt do something else. People need to keep in mind primary and secondary functions. It mattifies as a SECONDARY function, so if you need something to mattify oily skin go for a primer that has that as its primary function. Rant over. I will occasionally use two primers, but this is my HG primer. I love the skin care ingredients (tea tree oil, salicylic acid type ingredient, etc) that do give it a medicinal type smell, but that help with acne and can decongest pores.
Better than PORE-FESSIONAL
Princess from Peoria, AZ
I actually use this product to hide pores OVER my foundation before applying powder. Tried applying it first but I feel applying my foundation over it moves it around and out of my pores too much. Same thing happened with PORE-FESSIONAL. I prefer this product to PORE-FESSIONAL. Nice dispensing pump, too.
Too greasy...not worth it
Tillmidnight from Los Angeles
The product was way too greasy and for some reason would ball up on my skin. I tried to making it work but it did not like my skin. For the price I think the porefessional by Benefit is better.
