- Q
Do I need to wet it to use? Or just use it dry?
- Asked by Amber b
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageHi there - the great thing about this sponge is that you can use it wet or dry. You use it damp for a more natural, dewy look. You use it dry if you want slightly fuller coverage. Just make sure that, if you're using it when it's wet, you rinse it clean and squeeze all the moisture out of it & let it air dry. Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you

- Q
how do you use this sponge? do you wet it, or use it dry? I have very oily skin and would prefer a matte finish.
- Asked by Jazz
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageHi there, The great thing about this sponge is that it is so versatile, you can use it wet or dry, depending on the look you're going for. So, if you want a dewy coverage (which it doesn't sound like you do), you would use it damp. For more of a matte/full coverage, you would want to use it dry. Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
WHY oh why did you guys change the product material? I used to love these so much and I bought several more recently only to find out they're not anything like the old sponges. They used to be soft, now they're firm and dense and work terribly. The difference was noticeable as soon as I touched it! Will you ever go back to the old (way better) material?
- Asked by Disappointed Ex-Buyer
- Official Answer By Real Techniques - Brand EngageHi there, I'm so sorry you're not having the same amazing experience with our sponges. I've spoken to our Product Development team and they have said they haven't changed the formula drastically. They also did tell me that each batch of sponges can be a lot like a batch of cookies - there may be slight differences in each one, but it sounds like you're experiencing something different. I will share your comments with the team as well. Thanks so much for letting us know. Was this answer helpful to you

I purchased this product a few days ago and when I ran it under water and squeezed the excess out, white soapy/foamy liquid came out. Is this normal?
- Asked by Erin
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Erin, We don't apply any sort of soap or foam when we manufacture these, so that shouldn't have happened. If you want to contact our Customer Service team, the # is: 1(844) 284-0774 Thanks - and sorry about that experience! Was this answer helpful to you

Hi. Right now I am using a brush to apply my foundation but I feel like it's not giving me the coverage I need. Would a beauty blender be a better option?
- Asked by BMW
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi BMW, We get this question a lot, so you are definitely not alone. I think you might like the level of coverage you get with our Miracle Complexion Sponge. You can use the sponge dry for fuller coverage, or wet it (and squeeze out excess water) to get a slightly less-full, more dewy look. The one thing to note with a sponge - these do need to be cleaned every week to two weeks and then replaced every 60-90 days since they're porous. But they're really inexpensive, so no one seems to mind that at all! Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Can this be washed, and how? How long may I reuse it?
- Asked by Maddi
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Maddi, Great Question!! :) A lot of it depends on how often you are using your Miracle Sponge, and how much makeup you typically wear. We recommend that you wash your sponge at least once a week with makeup shampoo (make sure you also squeeze out any excess water and let it dry in an open, cool, dry place). If you're a heavy makeup wearer, we would recommend replacing between 30-60 days. If you're on the lighter makeup side, we would recommend replacing every 60-90 days. And obviously if it seems really dirty and gross, make sure you replace it asap! :) Hope that helps! Was this answer helpful to you

I bought this recently because of all of the good reviews. How come when I use it, I don't get great coverage like everyone else is? It just feels like i need to keep reapplying more foundation, which is of course not good. I pump my fenty foundation on the back of my hand, dot on my face, and then try to blend. Am I doing something wrong?
- Asked by Jasmine H
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Jasmine, Thanks for your question. Our experts recommend that you slightly dampen the sponge before use. You also will want to use lighter, sweeping motions, which will blend the product along the surface area of your face. Pressing the sponge hard on your face may cause more absorption overall. All in all, brushes and sponges will absorb a small amount of the product, just by their very nature; but overall, you shouldn't find that it's absorbing a significant amount. To be perfectly honest, I'm much more of a fan of using brushes, rather than sponges, just because I think I get better coverage with brushes. There are so many people who love their sponge, but I'm one of those who will pick up a brush any day! Thanks. Hope that helps. Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
Are the sponges recyclable?
- Asked by Stevie Marie
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Stevie, Great question! So, the sponge is made from polyurethane foam, which cannot usually be recycled, but I would recommend a quick call to your local recycling center. They may allow that type of material to be recycled. Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you
- Q
I have dry skin . Are you suppose to wet it first , then squeeze it , then add the foundation to the sponge or to your face ?
- Asked by BeachBarbie8
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi BeachBarbie8, Great question. For dry skin, always make sure you're moisturized and using a primer that is specifically for dry skin (I have dry skin too, so I know the struggle!). The best way to get a more natural, dewy look is to do exactly as you listed: wet the sponge and squeeze it to get a lot of the moisture out. As far as how to apply foundation to the sponge, what I like to do is add a bit to the back of my hand, dip the sponge in and apply. Some people dot foundation around their face and use the sponge to blend, and others add directly to the sponge. I feel like I use less makeup if I apply from the back of my hand, but that's just a personal preference. Thanks. Was this answer helpful to you

Is this blending sponge as good as the ulta blending sponge or is this one better
- Asked by Jasmine
- Verified Reply - Brand ExpertHi Jasmine, There are certain situations where that phrase "you get what you pay for" is true. But I don't think this is one of them. Our Miracle Complexion Sponge is, without a doubt, our most popular item in the Real Techniques line not only because it's affordable, but also because it is high quality. One of the reasons I would probably recommend going with the Miracle Complexion sponge is its affordability. Because of the porous nature of these sponges, you will want to change it out every 90 days or so, based on how you use it. If it was something you bought once every year, a splurge might be the way to go - but because you will need to replace it pretty often, your wallet might like it better if you went with the Miracle Sponge. And, you can also buy our Twin Pack Miracle Complexion Sponge and save a few bucks (http://www.ulta.com/miracle-complexion-sponge-set?productId=xlsImpprod12231055) or our Four Pack and save even more (http://www.ulta.com/4-miracle-complexion-sponges?productId=xlsImpprod15361251)! If you do a search for Beauty Blender vs Miracle Sponge on Google or YouTube, you will probably find a lot of people saying that the Miracle Sponge is the way to go. I tend to agree with them! :) Thanks! Was this answer helpful to you

Best Beauty Blender Competitor!
I absolutely love this! When I came across this on the website, I thought is this another generic hard like sponge, or is this another real deal or cheaper alternative to the beauty blender! I bought it, and I loved it. At first I didn't know what I was doing because there were no directions. To dam...

Changed how its made, not in a good way...
I'm on my fifth sponge now and have to say I loved the previous ones, but last weekend I bought a new one and it's totally different!! I don't know why the composition of the sponge has been changed but it's absolutely useless for applying my makeup,it just smears it all over without blending it into...

The Blender to Have!
This blender is so on point with blending. Considering I don't wear makeup, I am no using this everyday for blending my concealer. Works well with Charlotte Tillbury concealers!
Will continue to buy
Love this sponge use it to put on my liquid foundation and my concealer. Usually last me 2-3 months and I cleans it every 4-5 days. Makes my makeup go on nice
Didn't work for me…
I recently bought this sponge as an alternative to my beuty blender. I saw great reviews on it & the fact it was a inexpensive option made me give it a go. Unfortunately, it was a flop for me :( I have dry skin & this sponge makes my skin look soo cakey. It looks like the makeup just sits on top; not blended at all. Also, it absorbs all the product so you end up using more than needed..
Best decision I ever made
I had tried some foundation in the store. It always goes on so nice, yet at home it never looks the same because I always swore by using a brush. It looked streaky with the brush. So I bought this and when I applied my foundation it looked flawless and evenly blended. I will never go back to a foundation brush. I'm so glad I bought this and it is one of the best decisions I have ever made when it comes to makeup.

I always use these sponges. Great!
