Messy, Watery and Broke Me Out!!!

I recently purchased the Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 50. I normally use the SPF 30, which I absolutely love. The SPF 50 is watery and an enormous amount of it comes out with just a little squeeze of the container. Additionally, it leaves that horrible white, ashy film that does not absorb well at a...

Change it back!

The formula has definitely changed for the worst. In the past I would highly recommend but this new "mineral" change is horrible and caused a rash and skin burn. Also very watery. Will no longer be using or buying this product.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

So, I specifically like this sunscreen for myself, but there are a few reasons I might think it wouldn't work as well for others. Pros: -Lavendar essence? Honestly that's a bonus when you work outdoors, a lot of insects don't love lavender, and I genuinely think it helps repel them a bit. For reference I worked out in the deep woods near a wetland all of last summer. I put on this sunscreen and my usual bug spray every morning and I barely got bit, it was wild. Can't say for sure if that was the reason, but hey, didn't hurt. If you like lavender, it's a bonus. -I have -very- sensitive skin. I can't put that banana boat SPF 50 sport on my face or neck without it irritating the heck out of me (sometimes my arms too). A lot of sunscreens (even ones that are supposed to be for the face!) do the same thing to me. This one? Never had that problem. I can use it on my face and body and it's SPF 50. No itchiness, no irritation, no problems. Cons: -I'm white! I don't recommend this to my friends who have darker skin than me without mentioning that a lot of folks with actual melanin notice a cast from it. This is unfortunately something I've seen about this one specifically on multiple sites. Maybe one of the other products from this line would be better? Bit of a bummer when it's supposed to be for darker skin tones. -If you don't like lavender or are allergic to it, stay away!!! I love it but not everyone does. Tl;dr it's great if you're sensitive and like lavender but it leaves a cast if you have a darker skin tone.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

This is the first sunscreen I've tried from the brand and I am BEYOND disappointed. Not only is this product super watery and messy, but it broke my arms out into itchy bumps and red hives. This will be the first and last product I buy.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend to a friend

Sunscreen connoisseur

I shoulf start off by disclaiming Im pasty as heck and i have extreamly sensitive skin but, generally i would recommend this to every shade of skin except maybe very dark people, which i would recommend avoiding mineral sunscreens all together becaus you cannot avoid a white cast unless its tinted. If youre dark and it leaves you looking gray and dont want to waste it just add a lil water based foundation to tint it. The only major cons are that yes, i do think the recipe has changed for the worst, also it smells like lavender for some reason dispite saying its fragrence free (it what way does lavender oil protect my skin from the sun??) and you have to rub it in so it doesnt leave a white cast. Other people who say it leaves a white cast I suspect simply aren't finessing it enough. I prefer mineral sunscreen for the fact that im less likely to be allergic to it and i like chemical because its less likely to give me acne and this has both those benefits. It leaves your skin looking a little pearlescent which i like. Its easy to use too much because of the texture however. Its generally a pretty good sunscreen for my needs as a sunscreen connoisseur.
