dissappointed
I have fallen in love with Good Molecules skincare products since receiving some of their products as a birthday gift. So when I went to place my first ever order I decided to go ahead and give the "Gentle" retinol a try as I've tried a vegan retinol from a different brand that I loved but it's just...

LOVE IT
this product got rid of my hormonal acne in 1 month. AMAZING
Bad Breakout!
I do not usually have issues with retinol and I am always careful to use sunscreen and moisturize properly when I do. This broke me out into small scabby rashy areas on multiple areas of my face with itchiness. It's been four days and it's worsened each day. After reading recent reviews and seeing similar comments, I can only guess that the recent formula change is what made a seemingly well-rated product act so rough on my skin.
Made me breakout
Every time I use this product, I wake up with cystic pimples on my jawline. After looking at the ingredients, I noticed this has caprylic/capric triglycerides in it- which is a derivative of coconut oil- known to be comedogenic. It also contains grape seed oil which also clogs pores along with a few other ingredients that are not acne-prone friendly. Additionally, the concentration of retinol in this is so small it really isnt going to make a difference on fine lines, so I can't justify continuing use of this. I switched to the retinol serum by the Inkey List which contains no comedogenic ingredients.
New version is nothing like the old one
I used this retinol cream for nearly a year (and swore by it) and it worked well for my skin—until recently, when i could swear GM quietly changed the formula and packaging. Not only does the new version smell HORRIBLE, but it caused me to have a severe breakout and what I believe was an allergic reaction. My skin has never reacted this badly to a skincare product before and I know for a fact it is directly linked to using this cream. It's really disappointing that such a reliable product was altered without any clear notice. The new tube looks different, the texture feels off, (and you can definitely tell by the smell) and unfortunately, the results are the complete opposite of what I experienced before. I won't be repurchasing, and I'd caution others who had success with the old formula to be very careful with this new one!!
Wouldn't be Without this Retinol Cream
After using this Retinol Cream for several weeks I was pleasantly surprised to notice sun damage (pigmentation) was fading on my face and lines/wrinkles (sigh) were also softened and less noticeable. This is an effective, affordable product!
