How does the level of hold compare to the not your mothers curl gel? The gel can make your hair crunchy if you over apply. I need a high level of hold for frizz but without the crunch.

If you need hold, I would recommend using the gel and once your curls are dried- just scrunch out the crunch. You can also cocktail equal parts cream & gel and that would also give some hold. Not bad on its own
I love love love the gel and the leave in from the curl talk line so I had high hopes for this product. On its own its lovely as a curl cream, adds some definition and bounce. However, when I mixed it with the other two curl talk products my hair was very stringy and sticky. It was so terrible that I had to wash my hair the very next day. I do like to use this when I have to wear my hair up. I work as a barista so I will wash my hair and use just this so my curls look pretty when I put them into a messy bun. works great for that kind of purpose.
