Most Helpful Positive Review It did work!
Early this month I received @origins Clear Improvement: Pore Clearing Moisturizer with Bamboo Charcoal, complimentary from Origins and Influenster.
I wanted to use this product for at least 3 weeks to know if it would display results before posting about it.
This moisturizer is unlike any, I've used before. I would currently rank this 8/10 due to what it has done for my skin in this short period of time.
The Clear Improvement Moisturizer is considered an acne treatment and an oil-free facial moisturizer in one. It has 1% of salicylic acid (This acid gently exfoliates and unclogs pores) to help clear and prevent new breakouts from forming. It is also meant to leave your hydrated and it is gentle enough for very sensitive skin. (Still do the patch test)
• A little goes a long way (Cotton Swab amount) and glides easily across the skin.
• Absorbs quickly
• A skin-like matte finish
• Healed my breakouts
• More Clear complexion
I started using the product while my skin was having a flare-up of breakouts to see what happens. I would do my normal nighttime routine and use the moisturizer overnight. I noticed that I would wake up and I wasn't looking like a grease bucket. My breakouts were minimized in size and my redness was significantly reduced. That surprised me! I don't know if it has prevented new breakouts from forming, but I will say that my pimples are healing faster and not leaving marks.
I like the texture of the product, it is a gel-cream consistency. The scent is very light, it reminds me of mint.
When I tried the moisturizer during the day, I noticed that my skin has a soft matte finish. It kept my skin hydrated and I was surprised that it didn't make my skin appear dry. After about 3 or 4 hours I became oily, but less than usual. It definitely did reduce my oil production. Usually after any moisturizer I get oily after maybe an hour and a half.
Overall, I have always been a fan of Origins Skin Care and I do enjoy this moisturizer. I'd recommend it for Acne Prone, Oily, and Combination skin types.
Most Helpful Critical Review I received this as
I received this as part of Influenster's campaign. I would like to preemptively apologize for my review. Jar packaging isn't optimal for the stability of some of the extracts, but it's not the biggest issue because it does contain the preservative phenoxyethanol. Preservatives can be irritating to some but is a necessary component to prevent bacterial overgrowth. Most of the hero ingredients come after the questionable/problematic ingredients. Fragrant essential oils can oxidize when exposed to UV light and cause inflammation and hyperpigmentation, so that does give me some pause. Religiously wearing sunscreen is a MUST if you use this during the day. Fragrance, natural or synthetic, just isn't great in the long-term and should be avoided if 1) you have sensitive skin, or 2) are serious about skin health in the long-term. It has a nice gel-cream texture, but leaves your skin feeling parched. This is despite the inclusion of water-binding ingredients. Some of the ingredients are rich in polysaccharides, which make for wonderful humectants. It even contains sodium hyaluronate. My best guess as to why some people will feel stripped by this is because of a combination of astringent witch hazel, drying alcohol, and possibly a depleted skin barrier as result of a bad reaction to essential oils. I only used it on my face a few times because I do use vitamin c and retinol- powerful actives don't play well with essential oils because they are co-irritants. I did use this on my hands and they honestly felt so stripped of moisture even with a generous layer. This really isn't for me, even as someone with combination skin. I would remove the essential oils and let the star ingredients shine: salicylic acid, marine algae extracts, and a few other surprises that aren't highlighted in the marketing. As someone who has struggled with constant acne and hyperpigmentation for nearly a decade, I have dedicated quite a bit of time and effort to learning about my skin. Turning toward evidence-based active ingredients has made a tremendous improvement and my skin has been completely clear for nearly a year. Although this is not a product that my skin appreciates, if this works for you then wonderful! Whatever it takes to make you feel happy in your own skin.

This went on so nice, it sunk into my skin like a dream leaving such a nice texture behind. I have honestly been having breakouts with most moisturizers but this one was perfect for my sensitive skin and I would recommend it to anyone!
Amazing except for the scent
Hnsammons from Perryville, AR
Origins Clear Improvement Moisturizer is a very mixed product to me. It works fantastic, but the downfall is the very intense smell. If you get this product you will have an amazing moisturizer that will exponentially help with troublesome skin issues such as zits and blackheads. Be prepared for the very intense smell of peppermint and charcoal and other related scents though as there are over three essential oils in this product. Based on the price tag for this item in most stores I would buy this very rarely, but I wouldn't rate this item as an every day item either. As for recommending to family and friends, I would personally be a little more cautious as this does contain Witch Hazel and Salicylic Acid, but would still say yes to them getting it.

This moisturizer helps a lot with acne and pimples wears them down greatly and really clears my face so greatly and great product and doesn't irritate my face at all

I have really sensitive skin so I was primarily using this on my nose area. While trying this I didn't break out surprisingly, but the scent on this made me cautious. Usually high fragrance skin care make break out. Although this smelled like vapor rub vics to me! I think i have to use it longer to see any improvements.

I really love this moisturizer it's super lightweight and will leave your skin looking smooth and hydrated without being oily. I found that this did help out a lot with my breakouts. I will be adding this to my staples.

It took my skin some time to get used to the Origins Clear Improvement Moisturizer. It feels nice on the skin, but the scent it has is a bit strong when I contrast it to the moisturizers I've used in the past. Although it does work well, it will not show any results within in the first few times it is used. Be patient with the product if you already have another skin care routine in place.
Noticed a difference overnight

The first day I applied this product was at night time. In the morning my skin felt really soft and not very many bumps. It smells like charcoal which is interesting but I like it! When I first started using the product it was pilling up on me so I used less after that and it didn't do that anymore-so don't overdue it! It's soaks into the skin rather quickly and it's not SUPER moisturizing. Some days I felt like I needed a little extra moisture so I added another product in dry areas as needed. Overall I do like this product and think it does keep blemishes at bay!
Love this moisturizer
Alex from NYC
This is a great moisturizer. I have acne prone, combo/sensitive skin and I have no broken out. This product is light weight but hydrating. There's a slight smell to it but other than that I love it!
Mel from North Miami Beach
Probably one of the best moisturizers I've tried!
Zara from MD
This moisturizer is easy to apply and doesn't feel tacky are greasy afterwards and absorbs well into the skin. Well don't think I've had any new breakouts but I can't really say if I saw any pore clearing effect I still have blackheads on my nose area. I like it just because it's hydrating and moisturizing but I don't think I saw any other benefits of this moisturizer on my skin which is combination skin type.

This left my skin moisturized and did not dry it out. It's helped the spots that normally have acne issues.
Best addition to my skincare routine
Mona from Chicago
This charcoal moisturizer is the best thing I did for my face. It makes my skin feel more clean and fresh than it feels after I wash my face. It definitely helped a lot with my hyperpigmentation around my chin area. The rejuvenated soft feeling it gives is everything I could ask for. This moisturizer has been a life saver in the cold winter when my face gets excessively dry and flaky. Can't wait to see the effects of the moisturizer after continuous use.
Bre from New York
This moisturizer left my skin feeling SO soft and moisturized. I have oily skin and it did no make it feel oily and sticky which is a plus! I'd definitely recommend.
Smooth and Clarifying

I have very stable morning and night skincare routines but love trying new products. I decided to insert this moisturizer into my morning routine for a week to see how it would turn out and it's amazing! It made my skin look smoother and I was literally glowing! It smells really good (to me) but if you're not used to charcoal it might be strange at first. It doesn't feel greasy or sticky either.
Didn't expect to like it as much as I do
Liz from PA
This moisturizer definitely helped clear up my skin and oil control. It is highly fragrant so I don't use it every day, it's more of an as needed basis. It smells similar to a charcoal mask.
Kim from North Carolina
New fave skincare product that meshes well with my other products. Use it daily 2-3x. Only thing is it has a strong scent, but goes away when you put it on.
Lyss from Denver
I've really enjoyed this moisturizer, it smells good and feels super refreshing on my face! It doesn't burn at all! I'd give it 7/10
Cleared up my skin but too strong for everyday
lyss2199 from Chicago, IL
I have sensitive, acne-prone skin, and this moisturizer was a good product to fill the space of when my face needs moisture but is also breaking out. It wasn't as strong as a SA or BP spot treatment, but my skin is too dry naturally to use as it as my nightly face lotion. What worked best for me was using it every other day, under my usual face lotion. I saw a difference in my pores and I'm sure I'll love it even more when it gets hot out!
I'm not sure
Megan from Maryland
My skin hates dimethicone and I'm surprised that it's in an origins product (love origins) Had a cystic breakout after but could be linked to other things.
Worth trying for oily skin gals out there!
Anna from Georgia, USA
It's a lightweight moisturizer that helps keep my acne and oily skin at bay. I've used it for about a month now and haven't noticed any improvements in my skin - so it's not really anything spectacular. Fair warning, it does have a strong medicinal scent to it that I'm not a fan of so I'm taking a star off for that.

Love this moisturizer! Soft and great smell

Gives super soft skin and does not irritate in any way. Very smoothing .
Such a skin relief

As a huge fan of Origins, I was excited to receive the new Clear Improvement Pore Clearing Moisturizer! My face is always dry & can break out. When I first opened the container the smell of either Tea Tree or Eucalyptus hit my nose hard, however, it did not ruin the product enjoyment. The cream is cool to the touch & not too thick or thin. With continued use along with my skin cleansers, I saw a lovely improvement! Origins never really let me down and it or won't let you down either!
Hali from Houston
This product is rich and creamy. It has a great texture. The problem is that the smell is very strong and is not very pleasant either.
Tiny and grainy
taediva from Las Vegas
Not sure why they make the texture that way but I wouldn't recommend due to lack of spoon (thick crème in a jar needs that or it will cross contaminate) and strange crème texture
