Most Helpful Positive Review Great for acne I was suffering from hormonal breakouts for 3 weeks. I had big, painful pimples on my chin. My friends suggested using this soap and tea tree oil. It worked! I washed my face with this soap every night, then applied two drops of tea tree oil onto my chin. My skin cleared up within 3 days.
Most Helpful Critical Review African black soap This product does not works like a black soap should. It didn't get rid of any acne or black spots. This product was a waste of my money.

It smells amazing! And it's a huge slap, I was so excited to get it but it has dried my face so BAD! It has reacted with every product I've used on my face, within a couple of days my face feels dry and carton like, mind you I have oily skin so it takes a lot for my face to feel dry, I changed my products but realized it was the soap. I went back to the one I previously used and my face feels fine. I'm so sad because I can't return it and it's so huge I don't know what to do with it, I don't want to throw it away

I get really bad acne outbreaks and this has been the only thing to keep them to a minimum. I apply it with a face wash brush which i think really helps!! Definitely messy but nothing a wet washcloth can't fix. I also LOVE the smell of it!!
Made me breakout more 3

I don't really believe this is real African black soap. I'm 80% they used black dye as it stained my hand and bath.
Amazing 5

I bought this in store yesterday and it cleared my acne overnight! It also leaves your face feeling clean and soft. This is my new go to! Can't wait to introduce it to friends and family
Amazingggg but be CAREFUL! 5

This soap clears my skin overnight. Literally. I initially got it for after I remove my makeup at night but I've been using it night and day now. The only thing is it HURTS and BURNS my eyes so bad! Like it doesn't even have to be getting in my eye, if it's even near my eye it burns. Idk what that's about but it's great otherwise!
Bye bye acne 5

The only cleanser that has gotten rid of my hormonal acne. I've tried EVERYTHING.
Very drying. Nothing like the liquid 2

I don't understand how this product is so different from the liquid body wash. I bought the soap bar because the liquid was out of stock. Figured it was the same thing, right? WRONG! It made my skin feel terribly dry.
smells sour like funky 3

bought this for my strawberry skin on my legs and it got rid of it but smelled a little fishy once it came into contact with water

I have been using it for a month and it hasn't done anything for my acne. If anything, it has made me break out a little more. I'm glad it wasnt expensive where i would be upset that i have to throw it out. Only up side to the soap is that it smells good.
my favorite soap ever 5

this is my favorite soap I've ever used! I really like the smell. my mom and my sister hate it and say it makes the whole bathroom stink, but oh well. they'll have to get over it. I use it in the earth therapeutics soap sac, and it works wonder on my skin. I focus on my back because I have bacne around my shoulders and a little in the middle, this cleared that up! I've been out for a fee months and just haven't gotten around to getting more, but I was at ulta and they were out :( so I got the body wash instead. I love the smell of that so much, but I think I prefer to use the bar soap instead

Maybe my skin sucks but this soap made me break out and burn.

this isn't real African black soap. the dye stains and leaves a gross feeling on my face.
Hands down the best!!! 5

Been using this soap for years and it never disappoints! Such a beautiful scent - not too overpowering but just enough that it leaves a good aroma in the bathroom when washing your body. Gentle on sensitive skin and leaves it soft and hydrated, if you're on the fence give it a shot!
not for me 3
nopesoap from laaalla
I think I'm allergic to it. it makes my skin like itch and hurt and my skin was fine before I started using this. it cleans dirt alright, smells okay. used this for a few weeks, no change unless you count worse break out on back. i used on my face once just to see what would happen and it made my freshly clean clear skin super clogged and oily in one use. i imagine that's what it did to my back as well. I personally think my white antibacterial dial bar does more for me than this does. For reference I mixed witch hazel, aloe vera juice, and 70% alcohol in a spray bottle. spritzed it all over after my shower (used dial bar). checked this morning, my back is much clearer and less inflamed now. plus that weird itch pain has gone away. I'll just use it as a shaving soap for my legs bc it does get super foamy

Although it's not an authentic version of Africa black soap it works really well, I had a couple of pimples on my face and after washing my face twice a day for about 2 weeks I'm starting to see those blemishes disappearing.
GREAT FOR MASK ACNE 5
Rachel from Michigan
My face has never felt cleaner let me tell you. I have fair, oily, skin and for the past year struggling with insanely bad mask acne because I'm a health care worker. This stuff has helped so much. I use it in the shower just because the black can get a little messy on the sink. Make sure to use with a moisturizer because it provides such a deep clean. This is a 10/10 product for my skin and with that price I'm going to stock up.
Sensitive Skin Beware❗️❗️❗️ 1
Manda from Chicago
I purchased this because of all the great reviews. I had some dark areas, scarring, and break outs that I figured this soap might help. I used it daily for about 3-4 days, and my skin developed red splotches down my arms and legs. Almost like a chemical burn. My skin itself was burning and itchy, and now a week later it's still not back to normal. It is better, but it took a lot of lotion and care. Please please use caution if you have sensitive skin

I'm not expecting this to help but I hope it does. The smell is strong and weird sorta like a covered up sulfery smell. My acne isn't as bad (it's still painful and unattractive and annoying) since it's not so hot but trying to get ahead of the summertime bacne breakout. It's been two days and it's helped on my bottom and smoothed my chest (barely but it's there) so if it does work YAY!!! But three stars bc everytime there is pressure on where I washed with it, it itches and burns a little and then moves to another spot. it's only where there are breakouts not on the clear skin. So I have to be extra sure not to scratch and just wait it out bc we all know scratching is a sin when you have acne.
Best product for treating acne!! 5
Hannah Lynn from Mount Airy, NC
I have struggled off and on over the last few years with hormonal acne. I tried everything from Clinique to Clean&Clear and nothing was working. It wasn't until I tried the African Black soap bar that I started noticing a huge difference in my breakouts. I began to breakout less frequently and eventually stopped breaking out altogether with an exception of one here and there like normal. The smell is absolutely amazing and the soap suds feel so luxurious against my face. I am a BIG FAN and will continue to buy!!!
Best soap 5

I absolutely love this soap. Leaves my skin soft and nourished.
Impressed! 5
Alzgalz from La Puente, CA
This was exactly what I hoped it would be. A lot goes a long way. My daughters don't use it everyday, but they say it strips their skin of impurities with almost immediate positive results. They follow it up a gentle moisturizer to restore the skin's natural suppleness.
I'm still not sure... 3

I am 16 and have been using this product for six weeks or longer. I have acne scars, though, this product has reduced my acne, especially during my cycles. It has tightened my skin nicely, and I use the body cream after I use the soap. The acne scars are the problem, though. The acne has reduced quite nicely, but the scars have not cleared. I am not sure about the clearing up of acne scars, but, altogether a great product ✔
Not Good for sensitive skin 1
Navia C. from Washington
I have dry acne prone skin and whilst I used this product for about 3 weeks there was no improvement in my complexion but only making my skin break out and apear dry. Not to mention, the bar soap had tiny clumps that made me question if it was safe to apply on my skin.
Love this stuff 4

Had to come back and order more! It's helps with little zits I get on my shoulders and leaves my skin feeling smooth!
