I came across Orly's Bonder when I wanted an alternative to gel manicures at the salon. I had gotten 4 gel manicures over a couple of months and my nails were in terrible shape as a result. As a total nail polish lover, I needed to find something to replace the gel manicure that would keep my polish from peeling after one day. So after a bit of research, I found Bonder. It took a bit of trial and error to find the best method to use it but once I did I only had one tiny chip in a week's wear. My method is this : 1 coat Bonder, 1 coat Zoya polish (my new favorite brand, the colors are amazing), 2nd coat Bonder, 2nd coat Zoya polish, then OPI Topcoat.
Also, I bought Bonder on sale, but I will gladly pay the full price in the future when I need to restock.
My nail color doesn't last any longer with this stuff than with a cheaper basecoat. In fact, once it starts chipping, it actually peels off.

I was having trouble with polish peeling right off within 2-3 days of painting my nails. This Orly Bonder has fixed this issue for me so I highly recommend it.

Hands down this will extend the life of your manicure. I have been using it for years and use it with any brand of polish (Opi, Zoya, Essie) and recently tried it with the Orly breathable polish. I get the best results when using this with higher brand polishes and I use two coats of " Out the Door" top coat to seal everything. Make sure your nail bed is clean and free of lotion and oils before you apply.

I remember in college a girlfriend told me I needed a rubberized bonder base coat to make my nail polish last. I'm an engineer and constantly working with my hands so within hours my manicure would chip. Using this stuff gets me at least 3 solid days of pristine manicure before chips or cracks. I know that doesn't sound like much, but for me it a huge improvement. Some other reviews say this makes their polish peel clean off, I have noticed that with some brands but it's dependant on the color not the basecoat. I will never use anything except for this formula.

If you do a regular mani like me, I highly recommend this base coat! My nails don't chip as often if I wear this underneath. I peel my nail polish off sometimes out of habit and I can tell this stuff WANTS to stick to my nails. Please make sure you properly dehydrate your nails with acetone or isopropyl alcohol to dry the nail plate and allow maximum adhesion. I do the dishes with no gloves, daily, and my mani lasts about a week with MINIMAL chipping compared to using no base coat or other base coats. I'm a nail tech, and I'm honestly amazed how well this base coat works and how long my nails last with regular polish as well as proper application. 10/10 recommend.

I'm shocked at the good reviews in this product. My nail polish with this base coat/bonder started chipping within 3 days.

Learned about this from a beauty YT focused on nail art. Used this as a base coat for manis, which substantially extended the life/wearability of lacquer without chipping. Also great for nail art/stamping to ensure that designs transfer well and stay in place when applying a finishing top coat. Will be a staple in my mani/pedi kit.

I noticed a difference in the wear of my polish. I find this not only extends my polish, but also allows for smooth application of my choice nail lacquer.

To be honest I did not try a tons of base coat but I will never need to find a better one, this is just amazing and it's the best base coat I ever had.
But note that this is really a base coat so it's not for using it alone since it does have a rubbery finish on the nail so it doesn't reflect light uniformly ;)

I've been using Orly Bonder for years and have loved it. This recent order, however, seems like a different product. It's much thinner than in the past and my polish starts chipping right away. Either I got a bad batch or the formulation has changed. :(

Ive been using this base coat for at least 10 years, and I've tried so many others over the years (CND, OPI, Essie, Seche) and nothing stands up to this one.
This will make even the poorest quality polish last longer than any other basecoat will. If paired with a good quality polish, I can get almost 10 days of wear with this base coat.
This also works better than ANY of those "like gel but not" base coats (like the OPI infinite shine base coat, for example).
It also helps protect my nails from yellowing better than other base costs. My nails still do get stained with this, but not as quickly or as badly as with other basecoats.

I've purchased several bottles of Bonder over the years. It's a good base coat. The bottle design is comfortable in your hand.

My nail polish normally chips within a day or two. But not when I use this!!! This makes my manicure last for over a week easily!!! I love LOVE this so much.

I have been using this for over a decade now! It make my polish last and last! Forever a fan!

This basecoat helps keep my polish on for a good 5 days. I can still wear my polish after the fifth day and onto a week if I wanted to, but it starts to chip. I like to do nail art, and the bonder helps keep the design from lifting.

This has done the trick! My manicures never stayed on my nails for very long and this really helps them stick!!

Love this as a base coat. Nail polish lasts longer!

I have been using this base coat for years-found no equal. I use it weekly for my manicures, and once every three weeks for pedicures. The secret in this formula is probably the rubberized base. When my polish does chip quickly, it's more of the polish to blame, as some of my colors for some strange reason chip more easily than others .

I remove any polish and file my nails before a shower or bath. If not, then I soak them a few minutes and use Sally Hansen cuticle remover, or just push them back with a cuticle tool or orange stick. Then, I make sure all edges of my nails are smooth with a fine emery board. Your nail surface should be absolutely clean of polish remover. Then, apply the Orly bonder. It's rather thick, so make sure to apply evenly to the edges, and a thin finish sweep to the front edge of your nail to seal it. I find that makes a difference in the front edge not chipping. Let it dry for a few minutes before adding a first coat of color to your nails, and include the finish sweep to the front edge of your nails. I find if the coats are not too thick, they seal better. Let the polish dry in between coats for maybe 5 minutes, so the next coat doesn't pull the first one off. Apply your second coat and, again, seal the front edge of your nails. Wait half an hour and apply a top coat. I've used Seche Vite with good results. I usually refresh the top coat every day or other day to keep the finish fresh. I've also used Dior's gel coat top coat, which gives a brilliant finish and is long lasting.

First, a couple of tips for using this, or any nail product. Make sure you have filed and smoothed the nails, be sure to do this carefully, finishing with a "fine" manicure board. Next, throughly wash and dry your nails. When you apply the bonder give a quick swipe of product across the front tip of the nail, this makes the seal more durable, less chance to chip. I pair this product with Seche top coat and my home manicures grow out before they chip off, lasting about ten days. It never fails.

I have natural long nails and I prefer this base coat to adhere to my nails under polish. I rely on this base coat because my nails don't break with this bonder.

I've used this for years & can't imagine using any other base coat because it's so good at "gripping" nail polish and reduces nail stains from darker colors. If I'm using a ridge filler, I apply it both before and after polish to help it adhere better.

Makes my mani. last almost a full week! Love it!

I have heard and read many reviews about this basecoat and how it is described as duct tape for your nails and polish. I have only used it once and the jury is still out. I will continue to try it with other nail lacquers to see how it holds up. It seems to dry fast and I read that you apply it and wait 5 minutes then apply the nail polish and then I heard to wait for it to dry completely. Not sure which is the right answer yet.

I have used a LOT of different base and top coat products that claim to prevent chipping. This is the first that actually delivered! I used one coat of Bonder, two coats of Butter London polish, and on top coat of Essie Gel Setter and I went four full days without any chips, and only finding minimal chipping at the tips of my nails on the 5th day. Will continue to use!
