Most Helpful Positive Review WOW
All I can truly say to sum this up, is WOW. I honestly thought this was overpriced, but I had a coupon on my birthday and have been interested in starting to learn how to contour, so I said what the heck. I can always return if I don't like it. I have no. regrets. My face looked so CHISELED. I took a before and after picture and the difference is stunning and all I did was follow the little instruction sheet according to my face shape. And it is so quick too. I sent the before and after picture to my sister and she LOVED it as well and said that she's going to have to go get it! I felt so confident and beautiful after I used this. The matte shades are great. And for those people who are very pale: this is great for you as well, do NOT be intimidated. I am very fair skinned and it looked awesome. Thank you Smashbox for the amazing product. Thank you thank you!
Most Helpful Critical Review it's fine, colors lackluster
I bought this at 50% off to try to teach myself how to contour. I have really oily skin so I don't like using too many creme products, including the dark/light concealer approach to contouring I saw all over YouTube. For reference bought the lighter version and I have neutral-medium skin. The kit comes with a nice brush and a great set of diagrams for contouring and highlighting based on face shape. It's also compact so it's great for traveling and the powder is pretty blendable. However, I'm not really impressed with the pigmentation/shade options. The "contour" shade is a cool brown, which comes out very ashy on my neutral-medium skin. I usually use the "bronzing" shade to contour instead, because it is warmer, even though it's supposed to be used to accentuate the "contour" shade. The highlighting shade is not the sort of shimmery champagne shade you associate with highlighters (the whole set is matte), but a sort of light banana shade. I use it mostly to add more coverage to my undereye concealer and sometimes on my nose under an actual highlighter.
Now that I know how to contour I can do it just as well with a decently pigmented bronzer and an angled brush (the brush is actually pretty solid). I would not advise anyone to buy this product at full price if you have a similar skin tone to mine, but I can't really speak to others.

This really does a great job of making basic contouring easy. I use it even on the days when I don't use foundation. It's that great.

This is my first foray into using a specific contouring product, and I was more apt to try this because I've used Smashbox products before. This definitely does the job, especially with the angled brush. The best shade is the darkest one, but the bronzer is a nice shade as well. I decided to use a blush on the apples of my cheeks but this could do dual duty. The highlighter shade didn't make much of a difference on my face. I'd like a bigger brush; it's a little awkward to use but the bristles are just the right shape. All in all, a good buy.
The best! Highly recommend!

I truly can't live without it! Perfect for fair-light skin tones.

So I was really excited to use this since I've seen a lot of famous YouTube girls and MUAs use this, and I was so disappointed. The brush in it did nothing but I could look past that. Then I used 3 of my diff brushes that are really great brushes... and barely any product showed up. Just really bad pay off. Felt like I was digging into the pan to pick up any color and barely anything came off. Was effort to use this. Wondering if I got a bad overly pressed batch or something .

I am new to contouring so I thought this would be a good learners kit. However once applied I noticed how ashy it looked. It was like a grey line through my face. There was no salvaging the color either. I even tried to mix it with the bronzer. Maybe it would look better on other skin tones. But not for me- I returned it immediately.

Use this product for small occasions, very easy to apply & to work with.
I would buy this again

I only use two of the three shades, the darker and the lightest. Bronze is too warm toned for my fair toned skin. The brush that comes with it is perfect. It's easy to use with step by step instructions. This is my first contour product, but I am definitely a fan.
We Need the Darker Palette!!
TieraBrianne from League City, Texas
I love everything about this product, especially the highlighting shade. If i could buy that one individually, I would! I really wish Smashbox hadn't discontinued the darker version on this product so I could buy it in store in stead of online. That's the only complaint. Other than that, I recommend this product to anyone who wants a simple, necessities-only contour palette. It does come with its own angled brush, but it doesn't do much.
Fave contour kit

Been using this kit for years!

Love this product! I've been searching for a contour pallet that isn't too much or over the top. The colors are perfect and it blends and goes on nicely! So glad I found it.
Best fair skin contour
Glenna from Duluth, MN
I love this contour palette! I have very fair skin, usually the second lightest shade of most foundations. The contour is not too dark and the bronzer is not too orange, which are problems I usually run into with other contour/bronzer products. I notice that most of the negative reviews are due to the product being too light for other skin tones, but if you are fair-skinned, this will be perfect. It blends easily and looks very natural.
Go to for years

I bought this for the first time 4 or 5 years ago and it's a WINNER! I have oily, acne prone, rosacea and fair skin and the powders stay on all day, cause zero irritation and can be built up to contour as much or as little as you need. The brush is perfectly sized , gives you plenty of control is good quality too. I'm actually obsessed with the brush and have bought enough of this contour palette to have one for contouring and one for blush. Love! Love! Love!
Great contour for fair/light skin
CS8809 from NY
I love the first shade in the palette. I do think that Smashbox missed the mark with the second shade (more warm toned), its actually extremely orange. I would've preferred a darker cool tone instead of the warm tone shade. But if you are looking for a one stop shop for contour, bronzer and a brightening powder (which is a tad too yellow for my taste) then this is the product for you.
Natural and easy to apply
C Marie from North Carolina
I have medium olive toned skin, and the color worked well for me. The effect was really natural looking and not heavy or streaky like other contour palettes I've tried. The brush is small, but applies the perfect amount of product. The highlight color totally hid my under eye circles.
Maddie from Utah
I very creamy and blend-able, the brush is worthless but over all I like it
Perfect contour set

Gives definition to your face and makeup. Can be used to just bronze up a little or a full make up application
Sunshine from MT
This palette is way too light if you have any shade of medium skin. Unless you are very fair skinned do not get the light/medium palette. Waste of money for me which sucks because I was rwally looking forward to it.
Small but mighty
Cat from PA
All 3 are matte finishes, which is perfect because I don't like glitter in my bronzers or setting powder. I'm fair with cool undertones, and the contour shade is cool, buildable, and doesn't look muddy. Great for sculpting. Packaging is thin and sleek and hardly takes up any space in my makeup bag. I've been using the same palette forever and haven't hit pan yet. Definitely worth the $.
Contour Highlighter Bronzer

I was a little worried about the color at first because I'm fair skined but actually it blended in beautifully
Medium Skin Tone

I love how this has a cool sculpting shade, a warm bronzing shade, and a nice brightening shade for my under eye! I use this over my bb cream after setting it with a light powder, and it defintely gives me nice coverage for the small amount of product I use! i think it's the higher end version of the dulce de leche from wnw, but this one actually has a cooler sculpting shade which I love! :D

The contour shade is lighter than it is online and the bronzer is warmer than it is online but I love everything
Beautiful contour for fair skin
missage from mi
These aren't the most pigmented powders in the game, but I prefer that. The contour shade is perfect for my fair, cool skin tone and the bronzer is too. I don't use the light shade but I think this is well worth the $$. I'm almost ready to repurchase my 2nd one!
