The sonicsmooth expertly trims the hair at the surface and does not affect the root of the hair. In addition the sonicsmooth, is specifically designed for the skin and finer hair on a woman’s face, which is different than that of a man’s. I am wondering if the pre treatment cleanser and post treatment serum are both non comedogenic (does not "clog" pores), and are fragrance free? My face is very sensitive to facial products, and my dermatologist advised me to use only non comedogenic facial products with NO fragrances. Can I use my own special cleanser before using this product and my own hydrating serum after using?

However, you can use your preferred cleanser as long as it is drying as this is KEY to the most effective treatment. You can also use your own hydrating serum afterwards as well. Hope this helps! If you have sensitive skin you may want to spread it out even further. I received this and left in on the charger for more than 12 hour recommended charge time. It does not turn on and there is no green light indicating that it is charging. I have followed the instructions (turned the correct way, etc). Is there anything else I can try? I would like to not have to send it back.

Because the Sonicsmooth also provides exfoliation as the blade removes a layer of dead skin, we recommend that you consult your dermatologist to determine whether the strength that you are using should be used in conjunction with the Sonicsmooth. I was about to purchase until I saw consumers are to treat these as single use blades, and order replacements which include the prep and finish creams. I prefer a company give the consumer the option to purchase- if your products are good, consumers will come back. I don't like being locked in. It makes me wonder if there is a reason. Are customers scarce? We can use our own cleanser and moisturizer to prep our skin for dermaplaning after trying it in the kit initially. I only trust what my derm approves, after my bone marrow transplant I can't have anything with fragrance, and all the additives in 90% of products. Do you plan to offer replacement blades without forcing customers to buy the skin care products too? Disposable blades are $7 for a 4 pack and even those aren't single use. The price for this system is fine if we could get a couple uses from each blade and not be forced into package deals

I know these are single use but will the system actually keep me from using it? I have 4 kids and I might get half of my face done but then will have to come back in a couple of hours and finish the rest. I don't want to purchase something that won't let me turn the power back on because I waited to long to completely do my face.

We only recommend replacing your blade after every use for sanitary reasons and best results, but coming back shortly after the same day should not affect your outcome with the same blade. I received my SonicSmooth dermaplanning system a few days ago. I opened to box today and placed the "razor" on the charger for the first time and it's vibrating. The LED light is not lit up red or green. Is this normal?

I have had my device on the charger all night. I plugged it in when I got it around 1pm and it is 8 am right now. When I push the button it is not coming on. Do I need to get a replacement? The light also didn't come on when I sat it in the charger, and it is in the correct way.

Great for home use!
For medical reasons, I have been unable to go to the Medispa to get my usual dermaplaning facials, so I purchased this item to use at home in the interim. It's very effective for home use. It cleared up my nose and is gentle on sensitive skin. Follow with a good moisturizer/serum combo and it's the perfect at-home facial routine. You do need a USB charger for it.

Makes my face so soft
I got the Michael Todd Sonicsmooth for Christmas and I absolutely love it! I'm a 60+ woman with healthy, mature skin. Menopause blessed me with unexpected facial hair and the Sonicsmooth gets rid of it safely and quickly. It's a very lightweight unit and the shape makes it so ergonomically easy to use! Some reviewers mention that they have been cut using it and honestly, if you've ever used a facial razor before, cutting yourself is not going to happen if you angle it. There are several speeds you can choose from and experiment with, I personally like the slowest speed. It's also an amazing exfoliator. It makes my serums and moisturizers absorb so much more thoroughly. I actually use less product. Definitely very happy with this purchase.
Product fail
I was really optimistic about the Michael Todd dermaplane tool but if was a huge let down. I followed the instructions provided for first time use. After dermaplaning one cheek, the device stopped working. I put it back on the charger and let it do a full charge. The next morning I tried again and after a couple of passes the wand stopped working again. I switched out the blade and still nothing. Unfortunately for me, I was outside the return window. What a waste of money.
