I saw this in Ulta the other day and it brought back so many memories. We found an old container of this in my Great Great Aunt's home after she passed, and I always remember her smelling sweetly of roses. She also was a very beautiful woman. I picked some up for nostalgia reasons, but now I find myself reaching for it all of the time. It is very soothing on my forever dry hands and lips. The rose scent is strong, but it is pleasant because it isn't that artificial smell. The formula feels greasy at first, but if you only use a little and rub it in well it soaks in fairly quickly. It may not be for everyone, but this is a beautiful tried and true product that I will be buying again and again.
In addition to the Rosebud Salve, I also use the Clinique Repairwear Intensive lip treatment, Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm, and the Jack Black Lip Balm. Out of all of these, I'd rank the Rosebud lip salve as my second favorite. I love that they give you a ton in the can (the Nuxe one has .52 ounces and the Rosebud gives you .80 ounces. Both are excellent values but the Rosebud is 13.00 cheaper!). I love how soft it makes my lips feel. I am prone to chapped and sore lips, and while this product does not cure that, it definitely helps soothe my lips a lot. While this doesn't have as tacky or thick a feeling as other petroleum jelly products do (like my Jack Black one), it still has a lot of petroleum jelly in it. Petroleum jelly lip products usually need to be reapplied often and typically aren't as hydrating. You will need to reapply this one often (at least I do), and by often, I mean every three hours provided you don't eat or drink anything in between. It's not a "use twice a day" type of product; you'll need to use it more. That said, the essential oils in it make it more hydrating than typical "vaseline" lip products. I don't like how greasy it feels and looks. You will look like you just ate a tub of fried chicken after you use it, so be careful and use as little as you possibly can. It might be the essential oils that are producing that effect. The essential oils might be problematic to people with sensitive skin and lips as well, so if you know you are prone to breakouts in the lip area, you may want to skip this one. That said, I am sensitive in that area and am prone to clogged pores on and around my mouth. This salve does not break me out or negatively impact my lips or the surrounding skin at all. Also, if you wish to apply lipstick immediately following the salve, make sure to wipe the access off. Otherwise, you lipstick will not apply correctly. Yes, it's extremely hard to open at first, but the more you often, the more the grip of the lid loosens. You'll won't have problems getting into the product for long. Overall, I'd rate this a good lip balm and would recommend it to others.

I Love the product, prefer using the tin too, but can't get it open

I used only on my lips. I had this WOW MOMENT after using the first time. The ONLY CON for me was the strong rose smell. But it did subside about 10-15 mins after first applying.

Would use daily if it was easier to open the lid.

This product is great and leaves my lips nice and smooth. However, if this product in this container is left in a warm area where the temperature is high, make sure to leave it where the lid is facing up. If you don't set it so that the lid is facing up and instead leave it on its side or upside down, then you may not be able to get it open next time you want to use it. Since the product would then all fall to the bottom of the container however you place it. Hopefully that makes sense lol I know this happens, because it happened to me. I couldn't reopen it without trying to use sharp objects as leverage.. honestly it should have just been common sense... sorry for that long explanation haha

This is my favorite lip balm but all of their tins are almost impossible to get into that I rarely get to use it

Love. Always have. Always will. There is nothing better for lips. Or even elbows and heels

I think it's the rose perfume that's in it but it smells and tastes funny to me.

Okay, so I've bought this twice and I've also bought the tube once. The product itself is fantastic and I love it. it's one of the best lips balms I've ever used and it also helps soften my hands when they get really dry. I prefer the tin to the tube for the application method and because I can make sure I use up all of the product but the issue is that the container itself is idiotically made. There is no texture to the metal around the rim, so it is so hard to open it's ridiculous. And it will be hard to open every time you use it. If the container is fixed, the product is perfect

I would give this 0 stars if I could. I had to take a pair of new tin snips to it to snip a piece of the lid off before it would open which essentially renders it useless. Can we get a better tin for the love of all things sane??

Love this. Love how it moisturizes my lips. Love the smell. But left hand weakness causes me to look longingly at the tin. Wish there was some way to open it easier. It's reserved to use it only on the occasions when I have someone around to open it. So unfortunately I'm left to choose something else.

Cannot get it to open!! So frustrating! I've tried everything.

Love this and have used it for ages. My 7yo daughter loves it and when her lips get chapped she goes looking for the "rose stuff".

I use this for my dry and cracked cuticles. Works wonders and smells fantastic!

I am so peeved. I have continual trouble opening the packaging. It's just poorly designed. Super annoying.

This stuff is basically petroleum jelly, cotton seed oil & fragrance. Cotton is not a food crop so it can have a lot of pesticides. Cotton seed oil is not appropriate for lip balm. Fragrance is derived from roses but is chemicals. So all in all it may not be the safest product. It's definitely not for lips. I'm using it on my dog's feet.
j from Select State
only used on lips.

This is a great, affordable balm that works for more than just dry lips. I use it on ragged cuticles, paper cuts, eczema and allergic reactions. The reason I deducted a star is for the inclusion of 2 known skin irritants, limonene and linalool. These are new ingredients, as I've been using this balm for many years. I wish they would remove them and leave the formula the way it was.

I use this on my lips and cuticles. It makes my lips soft and downy have a waxy feel. My nails have never looked so good.

I've been using this product for a couple of years. My hands get extremely dry in the winter, and I like this product because, like Vaseline (which it basically is), it prevents your hands from losing more moisture and a little goes a long way. I like being able to smooth it on just my knuckles without having lotion all over my hands while I'm trying to work. It's a nice lip balm, too. The packaging is incredibly difficult to open because the lid is very tight, shallow, and has no texture to help you grip it. I know there are reviews saying that you can twist the lid off, but that's just not true-- I literally just got up and tried it again. There are no threads to allow the lid to unscrew, and the lid is so tight, it just spins around without coming off. In over a year of owning my current tin, it's still 2/3 full because half the time I want to use it, I can't get it open. It's a nice product but I would strongly recommend getting it in the tube.

Product is moisturizing but it's a little thin in texture. Container is very difficult to open. Would not repurchase
Kelley from Philadelphia, PA
First the container is sort of difficult to open. However, the product itself smells great and is hydrating. I was surprised by how easily it applies, basically just like vaseline but it's scented. It is definitely hydrating, but it doesn't last all that long. I would warn just be careful not to use too much or it will look greasy.
Eileen from Indiana
kept seeing this product, saw it someplace and wanted to try it. After initial battle to open the tin, struggled for a day thinking it would loosen up but have resorted to leaving the lid off and putting it in a zip lock bag. Never have I had a product in such horrid packaging. Find it hard to believe I am alone in dealing with this issue. The product itself works, like all salves, bit on the greasy side and for myself, the rose scent gets over powering as it's right under your nose.

I live in the Sahara desert of California, AKA the Central Valley. It's allergy season year-round and girl, my skin is DRY. This stuff is a miracle product. Use it on your lips, elbows, knees, cracking heels, dry knuckles, around your nail bed, anywhere. In a few days I notice how soft and repaired my dry skin is and honestly cannot recommend this product more. It is a little goopy when applying but once you get it rubbed in it's fine. It literally is a miracle product
