- What you should know about retinol:
- Retinol is an extremely effective and powerful anti-aging ingredient. You may experience mild redness, a warm, tingling sensation, or flaking (skin exfoliation). These conditions are normal, temporary indications that the formula is working.
- If you experience increased discomfort when using this product, revert to once every other night until skin adjusts. This adjustment can take up to 4 weeks.
- First time users and those with drier skin types may want to use this product every other night for more than 2 weeks to give skin additional time to adjust.
- For added comfort, use a mild cleanser and layer an additional moisturizer over this product.
- Limit sun exposure in general. Be sure to apply a sunscreen of SPF15 or higher during the day while using this product, and one week after stopping use of it. Note that extreme weather conditions such as wind or cold may be more irritating, so take the proper precautions to protect your face.

Apply pea size amount (0.25g) of retinol at night. Avoid eye area. Tip: For first two weeks, use every other night, then nightly. Use sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using and the week after. You recommend using clinique smart night moisturizer after using this product, however that is no longer available on your website. Will you be bringing this back? I was told to use this in place of the moisturizer at night. This is frustrating.

Clinique Smart Night Clinical MD Multi-Dimensional Repair Treatment Retinol Serum, as a serum, should be followed by your favorite Clinique moisturizer after. We like Clinique Smart Clinical Repair Wrinkle Correcting Cream (or Rich Cream for those that need deep hydration). This moisturizer may be used in place of the retired Clinique Smart Night Custom-Repair Moisturizer. When using the serum, for the first two weeks, only use it every other night, then nightly. I used this product as directed and had to discontinue it before I even made it out of the two week period where you only use it every other day. As a disclaimer I wasn't even going outside (thanks COVID) so it wasn't like I got a bunch of sun and messed myself up. I really did use it as directed. ...

Love this product. My skin adapted to this retinol quickly as it has a lot of moisturizing benefits to it as well. Definitely has made my skin look smoother and has pulled out some trouble spots and got rid of them quickly too.

I use this sparingly a few times a night to alternate with the wrinkle correcting serum. I fear if I apply too much my skin will feel warm or cause a burning sensation as normally retinol do. So far it worked for me. A fine line in my T-zone is slowly disappearing.

This product has helped my skin so much! I do agree there was a learning curve- I tried to use too much product at first and my skin wasn't used to it- I did read the pamphlet & was told to build up the amount & start slow so my fault for using too much. Once I started using a small amount - waiting until absorbed then later applying moisture after- wow! I started getting so many raised spots from sun damage & texture. This has revived my 56 yr old skin- love it!
