Bondi Sands Technocolor Self Tanning Face Serum

I really liked this product, but how it performed is not how I thought it would and not what I think most people would expect from a self-tanner. I find it more like the tanning version of a brightening serum or a hyperpigmentation neutralizer than a self-tanner. It made me a shade or two darker and evened out my skin. I feel like when I think of self-tanner I think of product that can be natural to very intense. This product did not irritate my skin which was my main concern. I have acne prone combination skin and was looking for something that would not irritate my skin while also making me tanner. The foam of the technicolor didn't develop at all on my face or neck, so I tried this. I have not noticed any transferring, but it does have that self-tanner smell. I also do not like the bottle design. It is a very light tan. I am definitely tanner, but I don't think it is very buildable. With the foam being buildable I can use this to get more tan on my face but still be much lighter than my body if I did an intense tan on my body. If I do a natural tan (what I normally do, it matches). I was expecting a product that would be able to make my face and neck the same color as my body regardless of how much foam I used on my body. I think it looks best when it's left for 6+ hours, so not an express tan I think it looks best when I use this every other day or every third day. It does not last much long than that, though I would not expect or want a face tanner to be so strong it can last through several face washes and taking off makeup. It's just enough to add some color during the winter when I'm super pale or even out my skin in the summer. I like natural and most of the time I am not going for an intense tan with the foam or the serum. I just want to be the same color year-round, so it works for me but isn't really what I expected it to be. I thought it would be more like drops or sprays I've used that are very buildable and would be a less frequent application. This is better used as a routine maintenance product to keep your skin a consistent color than something that will make you look like you spent a week in the Bahamas.

My idea of a perfect tan is one that looks like how I would look had I gone out and tanned, so I really like how natural this one is. My friend who likes a more intense, but not orange, tan didn't really like this product line. She goes for a more "lives at the beach tan", whereas I just want some life in my skin/even out my natural skin. I love the color the magenta gives me. I have tried other self-tanners and they never look right on me. I think the magenta gets closest to the color my skin would actually tan to if I had the time to sit out in the sun and tan for real. I don't look orange at all on me, but I have tried some of the other technicolors and they looked more artificial on me, so finding the right one is really important. It says 1 hours express, and then in the instructions it recommends a much longer time. For the price of the bottle and the color payoff I would recommend leaving it on the longer time. You can get a pretty good color in a few hours and don't need to leave it on as long as overnight (though you can), but for the price of the bottle I definitely wouldn't waste product on a 1 hour developing time. I have tried other express tans that do give an intense tan in as little as an hour even though I did not like the colors of those as much, I feel like their marketing of being a 1 hour express tanner was truer to how the product performed. It lasts about as long as most self-tanners I've tried last on me, and I think it was easier to remove than the normal Bondi Sands foam. I do not mind the express tan being a few hours instead of 1 hour or overnight. I did originally think I had wasted my money because after an hour I didn't see as much of a difference as I was expected but between the 4-6 hour marks it looks very nice. It did not stick to my face very well, the face serum of this worked well. The normal Bondi Sands foam worked on my face and neck, but this product line does not stick very well to my face or neck.

This is the first self tanner I have tried; I wanted a little bit of color that highlights my natural gold undertone. For reference I am a medium color and this self tanner definitely gave a golden tan but with little color (which is what I wanted). The produt leave your skin feeling soft and hyrdated but with a subtle color.

This product is a joke. Like many other reviews, I left it on for longer than suggested and when I rinsed it off it left zero color.

I'm convinced the negative reviews are from people that didn't get their correct shade. Im an avid self tan girly and I LOVE this stuff. I took the quiz on bondis website, and purchased their recommendation (magenta). I only left mine on for a few hours and ended up with a beautiful, "just got back from vacation" tan color. absolutely no orange at all. and the formula? dries down within minutes and you aren't tacky at all. I even shaved during my rinse off (a big no no) and still, not a single steak or patch on my body. I also use and adore the magenta face taking serum. this is definitely my new go-to!
