My Experience with the Conair Curl Defining Brush

Overall Impression & Performance: I recently tried the Conair Curl Defining Brush, and it generally does what it sets out to do: help define curls and reduce frizz. On my 4A hair, when used on damp, product-prepped hair, it helped create more distinct curl clumps and gave a smoother appearance to m...

Very expensive for being mid

this hairbrush is pricy for being mid. that is, if you have long, thick hair then this hairbrush don't be helpful and be difficult to use as you'll have to section your hair off to use this. The bristles are not firm and don't really pull back your hair if you're using this to smooth hair into a ponytail or to distribute product. This may work better is your hair if thin and fine. Unfortunately, my hair is long, thick and somewhat coarse so this brush doesn't do much for me. I end up needing to use another brush for the same purpose I bought this for.

I'm a terrible consumer that rarely writes reviews unless they're warnings to stay away but after trying this brush for the first time i ran to give it 5 stars. I have avoided brushes my whole life because I always just ended up with poufy, frizzy, and damaged curls. I decided to give this brush a shot since it's literally titled "Curl Define Pro" and boy am I so glad I did. I literally removed this brush from the packaging, followed the instructions on the back, and had beautifully defined frizz free curls less than five minutes after washing my hair and applying my hair product! And when my hair dried, they were still defined and freeze free! I can't wait to continue to use the brush to really determine the best routine for perfect curls. Highly recommend even if you've avoided brushing your curly hair for years!

I' really don't feel like this brush did anything for me. I tried it several times, both with wet and dry hair and it didn't really do anything special.

For reference: I have afro texture (not the silky kind) curls that run 3B-3C. I had high hopes. I was so excited when it arrived that I sprayed a section of dirty hair just to see it in action. Even without fresh product it defined my curls well in that small section I tried. What I didn't realize is that I'd only tested it on the ends of my hair. Unfortunately, when I used it on freshly washed hair after applying my products, it just left a frizzy undefined mess. The bristles basically removed too much product, removing any definition at the root/top half of the hair strands. It was still somewhat promising, as it created what appeared to be strong clumps at the bottom half of the hair section, but those soon lost definition and started separating into a frizzy mess as well. I tried using even smaller sections, applying more product, and even adjusting the way I held the brush. Still ended up being frizz city. I like that it's pretty easy to clean with the vented back, and that there are bristles to smooth the hair strands (which I sometimes do as a separate step when defining my curls). But it fails at the most important part: defining my curls.
