Clean Protection for the Concrete Jungle I really enjoyed testing Urban Skin Rx Complexion Protection SPF Moisturizer SPF 30. I usually just use a moisturizer with SPF in it instead of just sunscreen, but Urban Skin Rx Complexion Protection SPF Moisturizer SPF 30 is unlike any other sunscreen I have ever tried! It came in a very sleek and functional designed tube that used a pump to disperse the product. I thought that was very smart because a lot of times, when I use sunscreens in tubes, I squeeze out too much product and waste it. This was not the case with Urban Skin Rx Complexion Protection SPF Moisturizer SPF 30. I really loved the smooth, creamy texture of the product, and it also did not take much to coat my entire face. I used it on other parts of my body, too, but I liked using it best on my face. I did find that I did have to reapply quite often because it is not sweat or water resistant. I would also have liked it to be a little stronger than 30, especially if I am using it for my face. However, I really loved that I could use it under makeup! That was a HUGE bonus! It also smelled great, not too strong but just enough to make me think I was on vacation. It did not leave that white nose sunscreen look from years past. It absorbed quickly into my skin, and it also did not irritate or cause my ultra sensitive skin to break out. That was a MAJOR bonus! I have tried so many other sunscreens, and almost always when I use them on my face, they cause my acne prone skin to flare up. This was so not the case with Urban Skin Rx Complexion Protection SPF Moisturizer SPF 30. Overall, I really enjoyed this product, and even my friends and family could tell a difference in my face after using it. They all wanted to try it! I will definitely be buying more of this when this one runs out. But I do not expect that to be any time soon because a little goes a long way! That's why I did not mind reapplying it because this time of year, it is so hot, and I get so sweaty that I have to reapply most sunscreens. I also really loved the applicator Urban Skin Rx Complexion Protection SPF Moisturizer SPF 30 came in! The mint green color was so chic and modern, I just loved it! It also caught the eye of several people when they saw me using it which was a great way to start a conversation about all the benefits of Urban Skin Rx Complexion Protection SPF Moisturizer SPF 30. The size was perfect, too! It fit easily in my purse, my beach bag, or just on my shelf. Urban Skin Rx Complexion Protection SPF Moisturizer SPF 30 is one of the best sunscreens I have ever had the pleasure to use! Makeup and other skincare products can make your skin look pretty, but products like Urban Skin Rx Complexion Protection SPF Moisturizer SPF 30 that protect your skin give your skin a radiant glow all year long! What can be better than a moisturizer with SPF that smells like sunshine and sand in the middle of winter! That beats any bronzer anytime!
Never All five sunscreens are organic/chemical, which in the case of sunscreens means not desirable and not ocean friendly. Mineral sunscreens are titanium oxide, zinc oxide, or combo. They work to bounce the light off with a physical barrier. Chemical sunscreens absorb into your skin and the environment. I usually do not comment on products that give me a personal, idiosyncratic reaction (in this case, dropping my temp to 93 and really sickening me) BUT....I do comment about misleading and incorrect labeling. I see zero minerals for sunscreen here. This does not reflect on Ulta. Urban Skin Rx is catching the reader's eye with trendy buzzwords. The chem sunscreens might not bother some individuals IN THE SHORT RUN. If readers think this is an exaggeration, check Cosdna and EWG. Science, not marketing! Believe I saw Blue Lizard here on Ulta for an alternative that is safer for self and the environment. Ulta has many good alternatives in the TRULY mineral choices. Many brands have at least one all physical/full mineral choice for sunscreens. Yes, they tend to be more expensive. Do not be misled by brands that combine the true minerals with the avobenzones, benzophenones, homosalates, etc., and market themselves as 'mineral.'
Unfortunately they changed the formula 4

So back when I first stsrtef using this sunscreen back in 2020, it was great! No white cast and no wierd sunscreen smell. But now since 2022, i dont know why but they chsngef the formula. I think its becsuse its considered a "mineral" sunscreen now and usually mineral suncreens leaves a white cast on POC. Not sure why they would do that if their whole demographic is POC. Its still a great sunscreen and I've found if you swatch it on and leave it on your face for a couple minutes, it'll go on smoother and wont leave a white cast. Rather than you putting it on right when you squirt it in your hands. Still worth it since its still target towards poc!!
Why did they change the formula? 2

I am a strong advocate, for "if it's not broken, don't fix it". I don't know why they change the formula but I hate this product now. I used to love the old moisturizer. It was my go to I used it every day. Now, this new one has a weird smell, and it leaves a white cast on my face. Also, the texture is more like a generic sunscreen if you get what I'm saying. Currently about to return this product.

I bought this while looking for a facial sunscreen with moisturizer. This was recommended by a ULTA employee (no fault to her at all) and I wanted to love it but I can't. It's my first time using any Urban Skin RX product. 1, it is NOT Black-owned; just marketed that way (I did my research) 2, It has a VERY STRONG chemical smell. It's not a sunscreen smell because I like the way Sunscreen smells. No, this smells fresh out of a lab and last all day. 3, it says it has Sheer-genius Technology but it has a white/gray cast 4, it take forever to absorb into skin. I had to rub hard, pretty much scrub it into my face. 5, I had to add another moisturizer with it so what's the point? Because it wasn't very moisturizing. It was a little matte which I like because I have oily skin and 6. IT BURNS!!! I saw reviews saying it burned but experienced it myself when using. I'll stick with Black Girl Sunscreen. Sadly, returning. Packaging is nice 😊
