Most Helpful Positive Review The hair product I didn't even know I needed! Background: I used this on both myself and my 10 yo daughter, both of us having oily hair and build up/flaking (mine more natural, hers from products).
Initial impression/Application: Both of us used it (I had to apply it for her) and I noticed right away that the scent wasn't the most pleasing. It's not unbearable, but it isn't going to be something you are going to necessarily love. There was no irritation or stinging of any kind, there was a slight tingle but it was more refreshing than anything.....we left it on for the max amount of time suggested (30 mins). The nozzle made it easier to apply, and it was easy to wash out.
Results: I wasn't expecting it to do a lot for me since I already use a detox shampoo, but I couldn't believe what I saw (or rather didn't see) after we were done. Both of us have flakes (or dead skin) even after washing our hair, but after using this treatment I couldn't find ANYTHING visible for my daughter or myself. It blew my mind, it got rid of EVERYTHING. Not only that, our hair was far less oily in between washes for the next week or two (which is a big deal for us). I didn't even need to use my detox shampoo as much. Even our hair seemed to feel healthier, not as weighed down. I've never had any product do what this one did for EITHER of us.
Cons? The biggest one is the price. I guess if you are only using it for yourself, it could be less costly because you wouldn't need to buy it as often. We use it bi-weekly, and treating both of us once took about 1/3 of the bottle. I did see it recommended to use a scalp scrubber/brush to apply it, I do think that could help cut down on product waste. The only other con is the scent.......I can't explain it.
Overall, this is one of those products that despite the price I cannot live without it now that I've seen what it can do. The confidence it gave my daughter who was self-conscious about her flaking before this, is worth every dollar on its own.
Most Helpful Critical Review It's okay Disclaimer: I received this complimentary for my honest review
For the price, this is an okay product. If I understand the description clearly, this is like a pre-poo/shampoo/conditioning treatment. So I shall review it as such.
As a pre-poo:
This isn't it. When I think of pre-poo, I think of detangling and aids in the process of removing buildup. Though it doesn't claim to, I still thought as a serum that it MIGHT help with detangling but it absolutely did not lol. However it does help break up the oils on the scalp. Now if I'm in the market for a pre-poo, would I pick this up? Absolutely not. Shampoo already tangles my hair so I'd be looking for something that would help detangle it beforehand.
As a shampoo:
I think this is great for a shampoo replacement. It smells great, really cleanses scalp, and not too harsh. Now this does dry out your hair a bit, but it's nothing crazy like an actual clarifying shampoo. Nothing a little conditioner can't fix. For the price would I pick it up? Depends. To keep as a staple, no, for I have wayyy too much hair and too heavy handed. But if I wanna be luxurious, why yes π yes I would. I definitely like the smell (not love but like) it's nice. And I like the gold color. You're really paying more for the aesthetics I believe.
As a conditioning treatment:
No. Put it down save your coin. It states it hydrates without leaving hair oily, which I suppose is true but it's not like hydrate "your hair is soft" it's more like "your hair will retain water for a wee bit longer" type of hydrate. Does give your hair sheen without the oily feeling. I can't speak about when your hair is dry because I put products in my hair (I do not just wash my hair & go) & I didn't notice a difference in shine, just only in the shower. I would definitely use a conditioner after using this, I believe it is a must.
Overall would I recommend this product? It truly depends on what you're looking for. I think it's best as a "treat myself to something nice" shampoo.

I never feel like I get my scalp clean, no matter what I do. This product caught my eye when an ad for it mentioned thinning hair, which I have been struggling with for several weeks. I don't know what the root cause(s) are for that yet but I do know my scalp is a problem. I bought this and I've used it once and I can truly say this is the cleanest my scalp has been in so long. Application was easy, smell wasn't amazing but wasn't terrible, rinsed out easily. I did follow it immediately with a clarifying shampoo. I've been recommending it all day to friends, I see me using this long-term for sure.
Miracle in a bottle 5
Scarlett from Dothan, AL
I bought this serum for my scalp that would be super flaky and oily a couple days after washing. don't have dandruff and I never have had issues with my scalp. I have been using the Olaplex system now for about 4-6 months and that has changed my hair game up but I wanted to add something for my scalp that really focused on the health of it. I will forewarn you this serum does not smell good BUT it does not have perfumes in it so what you are smelling is the ingredients used in it including salicylic acid and Niacinamide. Those two ingredients alone are why I bought this serum. My scalp has never felt cleaner and healthier and this serum will help keep my hair follicles clean and my oil production down which will keep my hair looking good even days after washing :)

This scalp cleanser is a dream. It leave my scalp squeaky clean. I pick at scabs on my head due to nervous issues and when I use this it seems to heal them! I will be buying once I am done with this bottle. Little drops of heaven!
Didn't work for me 1
K from Chicago
I was using for very long time Head&Shoulders, one day I decided to quit using it, due to long list of ingredients. I wanted my hair and scalp to be healthy instead of being clocked. After one bottle, I think I'm disappointed to say that it didn't work for me at all. Maybe I should give it another try with a new bottleβ¦
My hair and scalp feel amazing! 5
Ariel from TN
I tried this for the first time today. My hair has been feeling a little greasy at the roots due to growing my color out and I have naturally fine hair. It's so clean and soft and voluminous now!
Smells awful 2

I got a sample of this and was super excited to try it but it smelled sooo bad, I was uncomfortable putting it on my hair.

I really wanted to like this product because I love the skin care line. I have very oily hair and was hoping this would help. Not only did it not keep but made my hair worse!!
Works well but... 3
Jen from Wisconsin
I really liked using this product - after the first use my scalp felt really clean and tingly fresh.
Unfortunately the 2nd time I used it I had an allergic reaction to one of the ingredients.
Gave my hair some bounce 4
Gina A from Fletcher, NC
I used this weekly before taking a shower. I'm not a fan of the scent and did find it a little tedious to apply in small sections. I chose to massage into my scalp and allow to set for 15 minutes before shampooing out for maximum benefit. After 4 weeks, my scalp does feel healthier with less itchiness and my hair feels very clean with more body.
Love how my hair feels 5
Dani from Peoria, AZ
Absolutely love this product this rinse makes my hair feel absolutely amazing! I have heavily processed hair and normally have to use a leave in conditioner after showering just to brush my hair but with this product I no longer have to!!
Clean Scalp! 4
Kimberly from Asheville, NC
This is a treatment to be used before shampooing. I did feel my scalp was very clean and I have noticed less flakiness. The scent is not the best But that's Ok
Love everything about this but the smell 4
Sara The Stylist from Tucson, AZ
I use the applicator to squeeze lines of the product onto my scalp, all over. I massage the product in for 4-5 minutes and then rinse with warm water. I usually lightly shampoo and then condition after to remove the squeaky clean feeling this product leaves
Great scalp product! 4
Nina from Buffalo, NY
I really enjoy this clarifying serum. It worked really well on my hair and have me that super clean feeling. The only thing I wish was better was the size of the packaging. The bottle is small and even after the first use, I could tell I was going to go through this product really quickly!
So Refreshing 4
Mich from Chicago, IL
I love using this serum. It's easy to apply with the nozzle tip and leaves my scalp soft and clean. I leave it on my scalp for about 20-30 minutes and it feels so cool and refreshing. The only thing I didn't like was the scent. It's not the most pleasant but it works great.
It doesn't work that well... 2
Anki from New York
I found that it is a very ok product. To say that it works well would be an overstatement. I have applied it few times and am still conflicted on it. It feels like some sort of oil without being oily on the scalp. I apply it after parting my hair and leave it for 15 min. Post that I wash it but I find very little difference in the cleanliness aspect. I have to use shampoo on top of it, with that my hair feels fresh n clean. I am hence not sure if I must add this extra step.

Been trying of this product for a while but my first time using it was definitely an #AHAMoment !β¨π€π
The Cleanse Rinse Clarifying Scalp Serum is a deep cleansing rinse-off formula for all hair types that clarifies and detoxifies your scalp while absorbing product buildup, excess oil, dead skin and pollution. Key ingredients like vitamins and essential oils are also part of this formula that, altogether, helps your hair look healthier and feel refreshed. ππΌβ¨π
My take on both this product after using it for a whole month is that I definitely feel very grateful to have had the opportunity to try it because I fell in love with it the first time I tried it! The only downside is the price, which could be considered expensive in comparison to other hair brands out there; however, you really are getting what you paid for with this. βοΈβ¨
Product did what it said it would do 3
Tab from Tennessee
I am giving this product three stars because I didn't use it enough to rate it higher than that. The few times I did use the scalp serum it definitely cleansed my scalp, but I didn't like the way it smelled or the way my hair felt after I used it. This product might be better for somebody without bleached hair like me because my hair was dry and somewhat wanted to reject the product due to how porous my head was. Good product just not the right one for me! I did receive this as a complimentary gift to try in exchange for my honest opinion.
This surprised me! 5
Kimmie from Atlanta, GA
I was skeptical using this product. I didn't think it would work for my hair type. I have eczema in my scalp. This didn't irritate it but it did remove the flakiness from my scalp. It didn't smell the best but it worked great. It clarified my scalp and made it feel great after washing. Definitely will purchase.
It was good. 4
aka1601 from St. Louis
I don't know how much of a dramatic difference there was, but my hair did always feel cleaner after using this and following up with a wash. It smells pretty bad though. Also, I only got about 3-4 uses from 1 bottle so not sure how worth it is. *I received this product for free for testing purposes.
New favorite! 5
Heathery3h from Laguna beach
My hair is SO SOFT after using this. My scalp is so clean and refreshed and all the scalp buildup disappears. This is now a product that I don't know if I could live without because of how much buildup I get since I don't prefer to wash my hair everyday. It really gives it a fresh, beautiful start. I also absolutely love the packaging. It looks super pretty displayed in my shower. This is my new holy grail go to serum to get rid of scalp buildup.
Super clarifying! 4
Windowsyl from New York
This product is so good at cleaning the scalp and removing it of excess oil. My hair feels sooo refreshed after this! The reason I give this a 4 star review is that the price is a bit steep for a 4 oz bottle but something I use sparingly as a treat for myself :)
The ingredients include glycolic acid, salicyclic acid, rose clay, vitamin F, zinc PCA, vitamin B complex, witch hazel, and jasmine essential oil. These ingredients work to soothe and rehydrate the scalp, dissolve buildup, and gives us fresh-looking hair.
Great for all hair types. You can use this product alone as a shampoo clean or follow up with shampoo + conditioner.
Perfect for a deep clean! 5

With the change of season I really needed a product that would help with dry scalp and product buildup, and Sunday Riley's Scalp Treatment did just that! It left my hair feeling soft and having a lot more volume. I would definitely recommend if needing a deep clean on the scalp! β¨
Feels clean but no difference 3
Gisell from Milton,Ga
Nothing major changed with my hair when I used it. My hair looked cleaned as usual just like when I use my regular shampoo. My major concern is the propylene glycol in it which has been associated with irritant and allergic contact dermatitis as well as contact urticaria in humans. It also has Propanediol listed on the top which is similar to propylene glycol but it's thought to be a safer option and better alternative but yet propylene glycol still made it to the ingredient list. The majority of the key ingredients that are listed on the box like Jasmine, Vit E, Rose Clay, and Vit C are at the bottom which means it has very little of it. I'm not sure I would buy this product. I rather invest in products that truly focuses on cleaner ingredients with zero harmful chemicals.
