Those of you who are old enough to remember the late 80s know the fever dream of Debbie Gibson/Tiffany/New Kids on the Block. During that time, which was before the insane marketing of today, Debbie Gibson released a perfume called Electric Youth. It was pink, in a clear bottle with a black top, and for some unknown reason a pink spring inside. I begged my mother for it and finally received it for a birthday present. I absolutely loved it. It was everything I wanted it to be; light, slightly fruity, slightly floral, sophisticated. I wore that perfume every single day for probably a month before I completely forgot about it and moved on to other things. I havent thought about that perfume in over 30 years until I opened this package and sprayed my wrists. Was I dreaming? Could it be? Light, slightly fruity, slightly floral, sophisticated. Immediately I was transported back to that bright pink bottle and days of lip syncing into my hairbrush. I had to take this further. Down the internet rabbit hole I went: Amazing Grace Magnolia - top notes bergamot and nectarine, middle magnolia and violet, base musk, amber, and driftwood. Electric Youth - top notes grapefruit and citrus, middle ylang-ylang, watermelon, and red berries, base musk, woods, and amber. Not an exact match by any means, but stunningly similar. Its as if Philosophy knew I was missing those halcyon days where my biggest worry was whether Id be invited to the sleepover. Long story short - I love this and have been wearing it every day since. Disclaimer: as a southerner I have to tell you this smells exactly 0% like a magnolia tree. I received this product complimentary from Influenster for testing.
I was super excited to receive notice that I'd be getting a VoxBox - my 1st ever! I'd seen that Philosophy has a fragrance range and have been interested in checking it out. Fragrances of all kinds are things I've learned over my life that I have to start out cautiously with. Even scents I like can wind up causing or worsening a migraine in moments. I've had to forgo many incense sticks, lots of perfumes, some fragranced skin care, some laundry detergents, some household cleaners, some food even! So I was hopeful yet cautious upon opening the box of perfume. It's a 2 FL.oz. bottle - super generous! - of heavy glass, the heft and shape of which reminds me of the Vera Wang Embrace perfume line bottles. The fluid inside is a light pink that leans more to "rose" than "baby." I decided to test spray into the air, and it lingered for a pleasantly long time (hours!) without being too strong. Two days later I did it again, and still found the scent not overwhelmingly strong and pleasant in the main, so I thought I'd give it a whirl on my skin. Unfortunately the fragrance on my skin was less pleasant. Apparently, my pH doesn't play nicely with this fragrance. On me, the scent became much too strong for my nose and started my head aching. I wound up changing my shirt and wiping down my neck to get the scent off me as much as I could. One positive for those who can wear this perfume: is lasts! On the skin and clothes, this perfume has great staying power! Had it been one that worked for me, I would wear it until all my clothes were imbued with it! As another reviewer stated, fragrance is so very personal, not just because scents affect each of our noses differently, but the way each person's skin interacts with the scent, sometimes whether the person's personality conflicts with the smell, and even the memories we might have attached to the scent or even notes within the scent. I'm still interested in trying out other Philosophy fragrances, fingers crossed!

I actually received this one as a sample. It is a beautiful amazing floral scent that reminds me of the visit my husband and I made the day we went to scatter his parents ashes We visited his families plantation site or where that old home used to be and there was a huge magnolia tree there right on the side of a very large hill overlooking where they used to have their crops. Magnolias are all over East Texas so you get used to the scent and it's familiar and happy and clean at least that's what it makes me feel when a breeze is going on and there are any trees nearby. It is a strong enough one that it doesn't take much and it lasts a good long while so I haven't had to purchase one yet but when I run out of the sample I absolutely will because I love this one

One Spring, when the magnolias were all blooming, the air was so sweetly scented and I wanted something that smelled like that!

Was searching for a new signature scent since my go to has been discontinued. Tried magnolia from a monthly club and wasn't sure how I felt about how light it was (my last scent was bold and spicy) and then someone told me I smelled like angels and I was sold! Really I have never had more compliments on any other fragrance!!
