They legit just used the same box with the same color names printed on the box from volume 1 for volume 2. The top row looks similar to volume 1. I bought this, thinking I could make a custom palette by combining them. The formula is nice and lasted all day but I wish Tarte would've put more effort into the palette itself. It's nothing diff than all the other palettes they release.
I'm a BIG fan of the first Clay Play Palette. This is SUCH a huge disappointment. If you have the original, don't bother with this one. The highlighter is useless. I've now seen COUNTLESS tales of the highlighter arriving shattered (it happened twice to me). It's extremely fragile, so travel (which is supposed to be a plus of a multitasking palette) is impossible. Even intact, the highlighter is a powdery, glittery mess. Though the blush is nice and two of the shimmers are good (the middle one is chunky), you're far better off sticking with the first one (since all the mattes are the same for the most part) and grabbing a blush and a single shimmer shadow and highlighter if you want them.
I was SO EXCITED about this launch. There's a reason it's not on Tarte's website yet and that Tarte is barely promoting it. I can only assume it's because they're trying to figure out a way to explain the lazy packaging. I've NEVER EVER seen a brand RE-USE the same packaging (names and all) for a new product. Onyx is associated with black (as in CP 1), NOT a mid-toned shimmer. Timber is brown, NOT a highlight shade. And Sm0ke is a gray or deep gray, NOT a light shimmer. It's a joke. They can play it off all they want but it was flat out lazy. The names don't even make sense in the new palette. I've always been a Tarte fan and this made me lose so much respect for them as a brand.
I love vacations from Midwest
The color payoff on this palette is nice. The consistency is smooth and the pigmentation is perfect. It is a great overall palette for everyday and travel.
Jlrostek from Pennsylvania
Loved it so much went to buy another one to have a back up but it's out of stock already. Great shades for all seasons
Lyount from Ohio
Great colors, go with anything so many combinations!! Love this palette. Worth the money!!
Makeupmonster from Florida
This is a complete face on the go. I love that they updated the putter packaging. I wanted this in the past but the old packaging was ugly.
Add the 3 face shades into your eye look and you can make several very different looks. I like that I can creat- day looks,Matt, bronze, Smokey, and Date night looks!
If you ever wanted the charlot tilbury pillow talk soft link look. You can get it with the far left eye shadows and add a touch of the blush in the crease. Perfection.
This is an underrated palette. Fantastic gift idea too!

I really like this palette. I initially just needed some more blush, but when I saw this I had to have it because the colors are all something I really like to wear (neutral and shimmery). And I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the palette smells delicious lol. I don't use the bronzer cause I feel like that doesn't blend well, but love everything else.

Goes on strong. Smells like food.
Chappe from Dallas Tx
I use it for a minimalist but professional look.

Great value for everything you get. Tarte did not disappoint with this pallette. Colors are great for fall and they stay on. Love it!
LushaLove from Florida
These are not the usual highly pigmented eyeshadows you get from Tarte! They are dry, crumble easily and have hardly any pigment! I usually love Tarte for my eyes but this palette was a huge disappointment! Even the blush barely stays on.
MUA and Momma from Tennessee
As an MUA and Beauty Advisor, I have products that are used on the daily. This is both ones for personal use, and those for client use.
The original of this was perfect! The only downfall was the need for a darker in the SAME formula!
While you don't have the blush, nor a bunch of sparkle... You DO have the amazing matte formulations! Pretty much your face in a palette. While maybe it could have included a few things, this misses the mark by a long shot.
Tarte makes some of the BEST pressed formulas. Here, that's been lost.
Even if they wanted to keep this one, bring back the OG in it's original formula, and maybe make a Vol 3 and 3 (one for darker skin and one for everyone with a blush) that would be the best of all worlds.
Sad to see they are saying Vol. 1 is GONE forever.

I have used this palette for years for vacations and on-the-go makeup. All of the shades work great for eyeshadow and the cool brown works great as an eyebrow powder. I do wish there was one deeper brown shade.
The major cons for this palette are the bronzer and highlighter. The bronzer is VERY pigmented. I've gotten good use out of it as an eyeshadow shade but I am not a fan of the way it looks on the face. The highlighter is straight up glitter. It emphasizes and creates texture anywhere that you put it. It's patchy and chunky and creates a weird cast.. it works as inner corner highlight or topper but never on the face. When I travel with this palette, I have to throw in a separate highlighter and bronzer.
I do love the blush and find myself reaching into this palette just for that perfect rosy matte blush shade.
Elsa from Portland
I've used both Tarte highlighter and blush before, and really liked them. I expected the Highlighter and blush in this palette to be of the same quality, they were not. The highlighter looked super uneven and cakey, sane with the blush.
Kussy from Nc
This is an example of a "volume 2" palette that was done extremely well. I had the original and used it to its very death, this was on sale and I always wanted it, I have not stopped using it since. And who doesn't love the scent
Nessy from CA
My daily go-to for eyeshadow, highlights, and contour.
candicerm from GA
The eyeshadows in this are very powdery and chalky. They don't last nearly as long as some of my lower priced shadows. I expected more from Tarte and am mad I wasted my money on this.
Nik from Guam
I could live with just this. The perfect everyday palette, good color payoff, easy to blend as well. I even use the darkest brown shadow for my brows. I'm in love with this.
Mary from Albany Ga
I love these colors . However I have bought this two times and both times I only had a couple days when the highlighter broke and fell out . No it was not dropped.
Momma from Northern Idaho
This is a convenient travel palette when space is limited.
Moon from NY
I LOVE THIS PALETTE!!! All the colors are wonderful. The eyeshadows go on great AND stay on. And if they fall into my creases as the day progresses, YOU CANT TELL. I also do not like heavy contouring or cheeks, these give just the right amount of color.
Over50 from Texas
This pallet is simply gorgeous. Nice pigment. No broken color pans.
Aimee from North Port, FL.
Pigment is nice, blends well, and has a slight vanilla smell that is appealing.
Just me from Mo
Love the way it applies to my face.

This pallets is all you need in one for a natural pallet. I love that I'm not packing a million products. I can contour, do my cheeks, and eyed all in one! This product had a lot of pick up so you don't need a lot. It blends so well and last me all day without a setting spray! It smells amazing and i also love that it had a magnetic close so I don't worry about throwing it in my bag and getting ruined. I just cannot say enough good things about it!
Leslie from Indiana
I love the eyeshadows in this palette. Very good for a natural look. Tarte eyeshadows never disappoint
The cheek colors are not exactly the right color for my skin tone and they go on very splotchy
Probably won't use them alot.
Peanut from North Carolina
Love the colors 😍
