Most Helpful Positive Review Better Than Shu Uermura
I came on to Ulta's site today for only one reason: to review this product. For many years the only lash curler I used was Shu Uermura. I've tried many over my 30+ years of wearing makeup, and the Shu Uermura was (like for most of us) my HG. I could never find another that did not pinch my eyelids. As I've "matured" my eyes have become very deep set, making it very difficult to curl my lashes without any skin getting caught in the curler. Recently, my Shu Uermura has begun to pinch my lids due to this problem.
On a whim I purchased this Ulta Lash Curler to bring my order up to free shipping, figuring I would just return it at some point. Well it sat in my vanity drawer for about a month. One morning I thought I'd reached for my Shu Uermura and began to curl my lashes, bracing myself b/c for the dreaded eye-watering pinch. It didn't happen. My lashes curled beautifully, sans pinching. When I went to wipe it off with a tissue after using it, I was shocked to see it was NOT my Shu Uermura. I couldn't believe it. So I curled my lashes again, thinking it was a fluke. Again, no pinching. I continued to use the Ulta curler until one morning I decided to try my old standby again. It pinched. Tried the Ulta one. NO pinching. As long as Ulta continues to make this lash curler (without changing anything about it) I will continue to purchase it, and will never purchase another brand's lash curler.
Most Helpful Critical Review DO NOT BUY
After using a shisedo curler for years I was ready to try something new. I bought this curler because of the great reviews, but I wish someone would have warned me that it is defective! Yesterday morning I was getting ready for work and curled my lashes as usual, but when I went to release the curler it was stuck shut! The hinge would not open and the curler was hanging on my eyelashes. Since I couldn't get the thing to budge I had to try and slide my eyelashes out. To my horror two huge chunks of lashes were missing by the time I got the thing off. Aside from looking ridiculous, the worst part is that I've been using a $150 lash serum for the last 4 months and even though the results were great, that's now a complete waste of money as well. I was showing a coworker my eyelashes and she said "did you get that at ulta? I had the same thing happen to me last year using the Japanese style curler". Clearly, mine is not an isolated incident. I have always loved Ulta and their brand of products, but please Ulta stop selling this defective item!

The best I've used and I have used so many.

I guess I have small eyes or something so every eyelash curler I've used before this one used to pinch my eyelids. This fits my eye perfectly and doesn't pinch at all. I love the way it curls my lashes
I would buy again

Use it to conceal works great !

Never thought I'd be writing a review for an eyelash curler but this one is really good! You can get a curl really close to the base of your lashes, it doesn't pull or pinch them. Really glad I picked this up
There is a very good reason for the name...
Micki from Wisconsin
This curler is exactly the shape of the original and iconic JAPANESE Shu Uemura curler. They changed the shape of that one about 10 years ago and I have tried probably 30 curlers since then trying to find one that fit my almond shaped eyes and didn't pull or pinch and actually curled my lashes. 100% buy this is you have almond shaped or Asian eyes!!!
Repurchase over and over

I have tried every curler on the market, but always come back to this one. I have almond shaped eyes, and the Ulta Japanese curler works best for my shape. I find other curlers to be more flat, where as the Ulta curler is noticeably more curved. I never had this curler malfunction or experience lash loss. And I curl at the base with heavy force... I love an extreme curl! And this gives me one- every single time.
Not really the best..
Busy Bee from Saratoga
It doesn't really preform all that well, in all honesty. But my main concern isn't the quality of it, but rather the name of it. Why is it a "Japanese Eyelash" curler? Am I missing something or is this just a really bad name for it? Idk but I feel like they should rename this one.

WHERE HAS THIS BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!?! Nothing curls my lashes but this guy sure did. i highly recommend it
Not a good eyelash curler!!!
Very Heartbroken :( from Indiana
I gave it 1 star because it won't let me leave a comment with No stars. First time I used it, it put a weird "crimp" in my lashes. Then second time I used it (thinking I did something wrong the first time) it CUT ALL OF MY TOP LASHES - to where my Naturally Very LONG LASHES use to be are now just short stubs. Going to be returning!!
Rounded rubber piece

This works well, although I wasn't used to a rounded rubber piece so the first time I used it I pulled out 4-5 lashes immediately. I recommend not starting at the base of your lashes.

Did not care for this one, feels cheap, it's sharp and pinches. Does not curl very well
Awesome eyelash curler

Really curls lashes! Love this product!
Not the worst eyelash curler but that's about it
Kyahlinn from Phoenix
It just like doesn't curl them?? I've never had an issue with an eyelash curler before it's just like there's too much resistance for it to actually get any kind of good grip and curl on my lashes
Best curler I've ever gotten!
kayla from Montebello
This curler never fails, it is long lasting and I've bought at least 5 because I always lose it and I can't go w out it because it is just so good! It curls perfectly and makes ur eyelashes look great! Definitely recommend

Good product, does what it's supposed to- curls lashes
Lisa from Seattle, WA
I found this curler a bit too wide so it's hard for me to grab onto all my lashes without pinching my eye. I'm using it and it seems to work fine otherwise. I don't know if there are smaller versions or if one size fits all.
Another name for this could be butcher shop

At first this eyelash curler was to die for. I have hooded eyes and this curler kept my lashes curled and up. The problem is by the 3rd time using this, it started chopping off my eyelashes. Long story short, we're bitter enemies now.

Sadly I broke the box , I can't return it. Trust me, buy Japanese brand 's eyelash curler if you need it.
Works extremely well for the price

I absolutely love this eyelash curler. I have gone years without using one because of traumatic experiences with cheap drugstore brands (breaking lashes, uneven curl, pinching skin, etc) and this one has convinced me otherwise. I bought it on a whim and it works wonderfully. I have very straight, thin, and long lashes. If I use a good brand of mascara, a lash separator, and this curler, my lashes look amazing. It holds a curl extremely well (over 12+ hours without a touch up) and doesn't cause any damage. Highly recommend.

GIVE IT A TRY!!!!! okay i have tried multiple drugstore eyelash curlers which have all left me disappointing and needing to recurl them but not this one!!!! this eyelash curler giver a good curl very quickly and it hasnt ever pinched me. im on my second curler because my last one got the rubbers too worn out for use and i know ill keep buying this curler.
Don't Waste Your Money from Indiana
I only gave it 1 star because you have to, to leave a review. First time using and it pinched the heck out of my eyelid. Then when I thought I did it wrong I tried it one more time and It cut 3/4 of my lashes so short. Threw it in the dumpster so quick!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!
Do Not Like At ALL!!!!
Unhappy Customer from Indiana
I have never used an eyelash curler on myself. I Tried it on my first eye and everything was ok. Not quite the curl that most people say they got from it, but it did curl a little. Then when I went for my other eye, doing the exact same steps that I used in my first eye it cut some of my lashes off. Will definitely be returning!!!
