How To Use

For Curls & Waves:
Step 1 - Start with dry, detangled hair. Work in clean 1 - 2" (2.5 - 5 cm) manageable sections. Apply Hot Tools Pro Artist Heat Complete Proactive Flexible Hairspray to protect hair before applying heat with styling tool.

Step 2 - Starting from the bottom of your hair, position the iron vertically with the barrel pointing downward. Next, wrap hair around the barrel, starting at the midshaft. Leave ends out 1". Wrap section tightly for more defined curls and wrap loosely for waves.

Step 3 - Hold this position for a few seconds before releasing the hair and letting it fall off the Barrel. Proceed with other sections until the desired look is achieved.

Styling Alternate: Not a fan of styling with a wand? No problem. You can also curl/wave with the CurlStraight Styler as a regular iron. Press the clamp to open the barrel, place hair section in from the bottom, close the clamp and rotate the barrel up.

For Sleek Straight:
Step 1 - Start with dry, detangled hair. Work in clean 1 - 2" (2.5 - 5 cm) manageable sections.

Step 2 - Grab a 1-inch section and gently place section between the straightening plates.

Step 3 - Firmly clamp the barrel down. Glide the iron through each section, working it slowly from roots to ends until hair is sleek and smooth.

Step 4 - To bevel the ends, roll the barrel a ¾ turn, hold for several seconds and unroll to release the section.

Step 5 - Repeat for all sections until the desired look is achieved.

Good concept, needs a bit of improvement

Good concept, needs a bit of improvement . I'll get right to the opportunity statement- the device needs some way of protecting the hands from touching the hot surface when attempting to curl the hair. The gloves provided does not offer protection so in sense, was not useful. The concept though is...

Needs improvement

I like the concept of 2 in 1 product (straightener/curler). Something that could be great to have while traveling were you only need to carry one product instead of two. It also saves space. It is lightweight and also comes with gloves. It needs improvement. It gets hot, so I can't go near my scalp ...

Good for travel

I travel a lot and wanted one tool that would work for both curling and straightening. I'm not sure if this is the best everyday tool but it does work great for when I need to pack light and only take one hair tool. The straightener is hard to get to the root, but I usually blow dry first and then use it to straighten and it works great. It does take some practice since its a long barrel. For the curling iron, this should be used as a wand, not a curling iron. I've tried both and using the middle to do a full curl doesn't work well. But that's why they give you a heat golve so you can use it as a wand and that works well for me. I also like how long the wand is. So if you aren't comfortable using a wand curling iron, then this isn't the right tool for you. Since it's not amazing at both curling and straightening I'm giving it 4 stars but overall it does work well for my needs.

My hair is very wavy & thick so I didn't know what to expect. My wavy hair starts from the root. I worked with small sections of my hair. I straightened the roots & curled the rest. I ended up with bouncy curls. Very happy with purchase.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Hot tools has done it again! This is a remarkable hair tool. I totally love the extra long barrel the temperature setting and the ease of use.. I love the way the tips of the flat iron are covered so you don't burn yourself and you can hold it tight if you need to get a closer flat iron or looser silver versatile. I love the way the temperature locks into place and it does not change until you're done and have turned off the unit. It straightens and it curls as described, go on and purchase it… you will love it!

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend to a friend

Probably the worst curling iron I've ever used. The clamp does not hold the hair unless you put the heat glove on and physically squeeze the iron shut. That being said, you can't straighten your hair with this thing nor curl it. Waste. Of. Money.

Doesn't clamp tight

It doesn't clamp tight, so hair slides right out.
