CoverGirl Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer gives you all-day, crease-proof shadow security.
Rated 4.28 out of 5 stars
As a rule, I am not a fan of Cover Girl products. They just don't work well for my skin issues and their eye products have been 'meh' for me. However, I saw some really good reviews for this on YouTube and since I was almost out of my UD one, so I decided to give it a try. I was shocked that this primer is SO good. Don't let the formula fool you at first. It seems very thin compared to most primers and I was sure this wouldn't work. But I smoothed it on and waited a minute or two for it to set before applying my shadow. At the end of a 12 hour work day, my eye makeup still looked fresh and crisp. I've tired it with both high end shadows and drug store shadows and it works great! It doesn't make my lids feel fry as some other budget friendly primers have. This will be replacing my UD as my go to shadow primer!
I write this as a person that has yet to find a holy grail primer. Urban Decay, Bobbi Brown, Chanel and some drugstore and Asian brands and none have worked that well. My favorite was one by Wet N'Wild - Fergie something but I think that was discontinued.
-the tackiest texture by far - which you would think is a good thing - but it actually contributes to my eyeshadow going on very patchy. I blend, blend, blend with my brushes and I never get a completely even look. Even when I go over with a clean blending brush after the initial lay down of the eyeshadow. This is not an issue w/other primers or without so this is definitely attributable to this product
-The product definitely helps by about 50% - eyeshadow and liner does stay on longer but it does crease by the middle of the day and eyeliner has almost completed faded. It's also not a smooth fade - the eyeshadow ends up in your creases and because you've got this primer on, it's not so easy to blend away with your fingertips in the middle of the day (I don't know about you but I don't have an eyeshadow brush with me in the middle of the day and I'm a put on your make up in the morning and I'm done kind of person). So the primer causes smudging but the adhesive qualities makes it difficult to remove the smudges. Sigh
-EXTREMELY difficult to remove. This is almost impossible to remove with my current double cleanse method. I have to apply eyemakeup remover OVER my double cleasing balm which I have never had to do with any other makeup product. Again, odd - the product is so tenacious it's challenging to take off with makeup remover BUT your eyeshadow still smudges
I've tried adjusting the length of time it dries, applied different kinds of powders over/under the product but nothing has helped.

I was lookin g for an inexpensive eye primer and when I saw this I was so excited because the cover-girl lip products are ancient to me it was impossible to blend any of the shadow I attempted to apply so sad

I really hoped this would work but unfortunately it creased mid-day. I have oily eyelids, I guess I have to keep looking for one that works for me.

It's sticky and heavy. It is also extremely hard to blend; I always end up with a line surrounding my eyes.
I ended up going back to Milani's eyeshadow primer

I am trying to ball on a budget and this guy was meh; it feels like glue on my lids and doesn't do much for me, my shimmers don't stay in place and it's super tacky.

A little goes a long way. I apply it to my eyelids, wait for it to dry, then apply my eyeshadow. My eyeshadow stays in place until I remove it! It also gives my eyelids a nice color on its own on days when I don't want to use eyeshadow.

The key to wearing this is to put a little on with the applicator, then smooth lightly with your ring finger. I have no trouble with it creasing or lying in my wrinkles.
You must use eye make-up /mascara remover before washing your face. It does not clean off with just soap and water

I have to give this 4 stars because it works incredibly well! It does make shadow a little hard to blend sometimes. My only issue is it gave me a horrible allergic reaction all over my eyelids. I thought it was my lash glue but it kept happening so I did an elimination test and this was the culprit, sadly!

This is my ALL TIME FAVORITE eye primer. I was in the market for a cruelty free drugstore (because it's easily accessible) eye primer when I heard the hype about this one. I normally don't buy from Covergirl, but since they went cruelty free I was excited to try this! It absolutely lives up to the hype. It will make the most out of your shadows in terms of pigmentation & your eye look won't budge until you wash it off. My biggest tip is DO NOT GO IN WITH TOO MUCH PRODUCT! With the majority of the negative reviews, I suspect they went in with too much. This causes excessive tackiness & your shadows will get patchy & won't budge when you try to blend. Go in with the TINIEST amount possible, more is less with Lid Lock. I have hooded eyes & this holds my shadows in place like no other. I go in to work around 8 AM & sometimes don't get home til 8 PM & my eye look is EXACTLY the same as when I applied 12 hours prior.

Cheap, but people notice my eyes, the color and it last through tears, through drinking, stress at work sweat in humid weather or when you are working out! Must by Covergirl Lid Lock Up Eyeshadow Primer 61

This is the best eyelid primer that I have ever used. I have very oily eyelids so I have tried a lot of primers.
Some of the more expensive brands work but are so hard to remove. Covergirl is easy to remove and the eye shadows stay true to color and last all day (10+ hours).

Best eyeshadow primer! I've seen so many positive reviews of this primer but didn't expect these amazing results. My eyeshadow stayed in tact for over 12 hours with this primer. Forget those high end primers, your wallet will love you for this one.

I absolutely love this product. it lasts so long and makes my makeup look good for hours. My eyeshadow looks vibrant and bright for hours without creasing. I love this product so much and would definitely recommend to everyone.

I don't use it often but when I do it works well and does the job. When I use it it stays on all day and comes off when I need to at the end of the night when washing it off. I like it and would buy it again in the future. I would recommend it to other people also

I've been using this for over 2 years now. It works with all eyeshadows except Natasha Denona. It's translucent. It does grip the shadow and it stays in place. Lasts all day even in my humid environment.

I was looking for another primer as I have very oily eyelids and without a good primer, the eyeshadow creases and/or eyeliner travels up into the crease. I do not have this problem with this primer. It's about the same shade as the Too Faced Shadow Insurance or a little lighter but dries down clear and has a tacky base. I like that because I know my eye makeup won't move around. I have worn it with eye makeup for at least six hours and there is no fading of eyeshadow or eyeliner. I really hope CoverGirl doesn't change the formula or discontinue this primer because this is THE ONE! It's holy grail status for me!

THIS IS SOOOOO GOOD!!! I was so surprised. I thought it wasn't going to work, but omg please try it! I have oily lids, it doesn't crease.

This eyeshadow primer is decent. I don't get quite as smooth of an application as with the TooFaced, but it still does the job and I like that it has the little sponge tip applicator, which does make it easier to get it on my lid that using a finger or having to use some other tool.

This my new favorite primer! If you have hooded eyelids that gets very oily, you need this! The only two eye primers I have tried is Too Faced Shadow Insurance and the elf Putty Eye Primer. This CoverGirl primer is light beige in color and dries almost clear leaving a tacky base which I don't mind because I know my eye makeup is less likely to move or fade. However, it is not tacky to the point where you can't blend out eyeshadow. My eye makeup held up so well for at least six hours and did not get oily or crease whatsoever. This may be my new holy grail eye primer!

I bought this on a whim to see what eye primers are all about. Price point is cheap and it's surprisingly powerful! Held my shadow on all day, I just deducted a star because my lids felt a little tacky.

A great affordable option to any high end eyeshadow primer. My eyeshadow sticks nicely and stays put all day without fading.

They definitely meant LOCK. This was blowing up on socials so I wanted to test it out for myself. I've tried paint pot, concealer and other lid primers but this one was by far the trickiest one to work with. I've had makeup artists say not to 'set' your lid primer bc it defeats the purpose but my goodness...even with setting this primer it was tricky to blend. My typical go-to bronze eye look was looking rough, patchy & muddy after using this. I removed my eye look 3x's in one sitting bc it wasn't turning out nice. I know this is user error but quite honestly, I wasn't expecting an affordable lid primer to give me this much self doubt in my eyeshadow applying skills. I'm going to continue using it bc it seems like the grip power is there & for someone with oily eyelids that's definitely what I look for in a primer.
