I cleanse before and after PMD use. The PMD causes some redness to skin as expected. It causes inflammation to heal and generate healthy new skin. Do not use under eyes. I have been using for 4 weeks and have noticed a huge decrease in my acne scars! Do not use on active acne pustules. Avoid those areas. I have noticed a decrease in my acne pustules and black heads too. I love this product. You can run the PMD two times over one area on your face but I don't recommend it, one time has been enough for me. You must use a moisturizer afterwards. I also use jojoba face serum afterwards with a moisturizer. I have not had any negative side effects besides the expected redness (which subsides within an hour) and facial dryness. I have used the PMD on arms and hands and after two weeks, my body feels like butter! I really love this product. Take your time with it. Do not push down on your face and lightly hover over it. I use the blue disk. I have sensitive skin.Most Helpful Critical ReviewDidn't see much of an improvementI bought the PMD to use on my face (I'm 33 and I don't have many wrinkles, but I do get melasma in the summer on my upper lip and have clogged pores in a few spots) and so far I am not pleased with it. I have used the least abrasive of the heads and it still leaves tiger striped scratches on my cheeks that take days to go away. It doesn't work at all on my nose because it can't get suction, and i have tried it on my chin where i always seem to have an outcropping of clogged pores but have noticed no difference there. My melasma fades a lot in the winter so I haven't had a chance to see if it does anything for that- I will have to wait for summer. I started using it mainly on my body since it wrecks my face, and it seems to not do enough there. I have keratosis pilaris (chicken skin) on my inner knees (year round) and upper arms (mainly just in the winter), and although it does seem to help my upper arms if I do it regularly, it doesn't do anything for the skin on my knees. I also have a little KP on my upper outer thighs and that hasn't been affected by the PMD either. All in all it hasn't shown any benefit for any of my ailments and is too harsh for my face. My skin tone is now amazing, all marks have disappeared and fine lines slightly diminished too. I am asked frequently what products I am using. People do not believe I am not wearing make up. I love this product. In terms of ease of use - the practise setting is great. Try it a couple of times and then move through the different settings. I haven't even reached coarse yet and have seen the results. I use 1/2 times a week. I use it with a very basic moisturiser. Salon level results at a fraction of the price. I hadn't used tretenoin in 5 days but wanted to use it Friday to give my face time to heal before heading back to work on Monday. Directly after the treatment I had stripes of severe chafing and a few red spots. My face was very dry and tight and felt burnt. I debated returning it believing my skin is either too sensitive for this device or tretenoin use should have been stopped for the entire 7 days before. However, it is now Tuesday and my skin has healed, texture is smoother and pores are smaller. So I'm very pleased and happy with this purchase.
