I did a lot of research before purchasing a face sunscreen for everyday use and chose this one even after reading some negative reviews. I have experienced a perfect consistency with this sunscreen and wonder if some people who find it gritty just aren't shaking it before using. Also, this product gives me no white cast, but I will add that I have pale skin. As someone who uses a retinoid gel, this mineral sunscreen gives me the protection I need. I will add that when I bought this sunscreen at Target, my first box had the other, non-mineral version in it with a tester sticker but I had no issues exchanging it.
I've used this for years, and yes they changed the formula and yes it is grainy now. I thought at first it was due to the heat of summer and maybe the formula was separating in storage everywhere due to that, but it has persisted through the winter with bottles made more recently. I've bought bottles from physical stores and online in the past few months and they are all grainy. It is harder grains, not grains that dissolve or dissapate when you rub it on your skin. My skin goes red when I rub it on, which is terrible because I can't use anywhere near as much as I should be using on my skin. I was able to get a refund by writing to LRP but now I have to hunt for a new sunscreen that won't irritate my skin. Bummer. If you can get past the grainyness, this is the best. It never irritated my very sensitive skin before, but now I wind up red after applying a small amount.

Very easy to apply compared to comparable products.

Product goes on smoothly and blends in flawlessly. It will be the only sunscreen I buy from now on. A little goes a long way, and what's also great, is that it is fragrance free. I'm sold on the product and I have already recommended it to others. Thank you.

Best sunscreen for sensitive rosacea skin. Been using for years!

I love how light and natural the product is, goes on smooth and not greasy.

Its a nice dry feeling, smooth application, and most importantly does not irritate the eyes. The only draw backs that has is that it does leave a mild white cast. Not for down skin but will try the tinted version of this.

I don't like the milky residue, I would prefer a clear finish.
KRashid from New york
It leaves a white cast on face and looks streaky and ghostly. Its difficult to blend and makes your skin super dry. I wouldn't purchase again. Its one of the least favourite sunblocks i have ever used.

Unfortunately, this mineral sunscreen left a terrible white cast on my medium-tan skin (fitz 4). With majority of mineral sunscreens, not sheer on brown skin. Which was a bummer because it went on smooth and lightweight.

Not black skin friendly . Left a terrible white cast. It is non-irritating but that was over shadowed by the ghost effect.

This is the one. I'm usually very oily and my makeup is a hot mess due to it. When I put this on it dries down matte and allows me to have protection as well as creates a base for my makeup that allows me to not be an oily mess all day. It has honestly even cleared up my skin in the short time of using it. The slight tint to it provides a great amount of coverage and I honestly really enjoy the consistency. It's light weight yet gives you a slight glow. Make sure to shake the bottle before use.

Leaves a white cast on my Nutella skin. I'm sure there's one that works well from La Roche-Posay but this was not it

I recent change my Sun protractor from a Chemical to a Mineral sunscreen. I decided to try this one because I have read good reviews about it. I personally don't like it. It leaves a white residue on my face, absorbs to quick it doesn't blends equally leaving me with chalky marks all over my face. Makes my face really dry and clogged my pores making my skin looking old and with texture (wrinkles lines) I have only used it for 5 days and Is making my skin look bad causing breakouts. All my nose looks like a strawberry with hard white dots. Plus I think is a little pricey for the amount you getting. I was expecting a better formula for the price a payed.

My facialist recommended this brand to me! I know I have to use sunscreen on my face daily, but always struggled applying gross, oily stuff that are packed with toxic chemicals on my face. So never built the habit of applying sunscreen because I don't like the feeling of having it on. This one is helping me BUILD that habit! It's liquid and velvety, doesn't give me a white face, easy to apply and absorb, doesn't make me oilier than I already am (I have oily skin), and has OK ingredients.

Was super excited to try this out, but I noticed it left a horrible white cast on my face, and me already being pale. I looked like a vampire. Loved the consistency, other than that extremely disappointed.

Living in Florida, you constantly NEEEEEED a good spf. But, alas you also need something that's water-resistant AND is moisturizing because you sweat a lot…La Roche-Posay IS THE ONE!!! Not only is it spf 50, it's resists water, is paraben-free, and it's great for sensitive skin. It has no scent, goes on so silky and stays on!!!! I absolutely love this!!

I wanted to like this, but i absolutely cannot stand the smell which lingers all day. Its also very oily and i feel that it doesnt absorb in my skin the way id like. I will be returning it :/

Excellent for face for people sensitive to chemical sunscreens! (I'm a dermatologist in New Mexico). I like it better than Rodan and Fields similar product. Goes on smooth and thin. Not too white.

Best sunscreen I've used. It's certainly on the expensive side as far as my budget is concerned, but I keep it on hand for certain cases.

This is the silkiest, lightest, most protective sunscreen I have ever worn. I adored it when my skin was a lot oilier than it is now, but it still works. I am always amazed that a zinc ingredient can be so light, especially when I recall those days at the beach, long ago, when I sported what we all called "lifeguard nose." I love the audible mixing beads inside the container, I love the cosmetically elegant finish, and I love that this sunscreen protects my face from photoaging. I can actually turn my face up to the sun without worries.

Light weight. Feels so soft on face.

I'm light skinned, but not the fairest (level 2 neutral). This sunscreen seems like it rubs in clear, but it looks terrible over any dry spots. I can rub it in until it's invisible, but you don't want to do that too much to sunscreen or it won't be effective enough. I also have the tinted version of this sunscreen which is much better, but a bit too dark for me. So I mix a few drops of this white into the tinted for the perfect hue. However, this is an annoying process, so I hope La Roche eventually makes more shades of this product.
**THE GOOD:*** the texture is amazing, by far better than many of the older versions of mineral sunscreens. It dries down to a silky finish and doesn't feel sticky, thick, or greasy. I only need to apply a very light amount of finishing powder after. It's not moisturizing, so I do make sure to apply a tiny bit of moisturizer and let it soak in beforehand. If you're super pale or don't have flaky skin, you might love this sunscreen. If you're closer to light-med tone, try the tinted version first.

I love this sunscreen! I started using this years ago as my daily morning moisterizer and sun protectant. I am very pale and have dry skin, so this formula is lovely for me. I detect a faint white cast until it absorbs into my skin, so those with any type of pigment in their skin might not like this product. Those with oily skin - I'm not sure how this would react with your oils, either.
My dermatologist recommended this to me once I developed mild Melasma in June 2020. I now use even more of this product to protect my skin!
Cait from New York, NY
This sunscreen is highly recommended and I don't understand why. If you have dry skin its not for you it will settle into every dry patch. Also leaves you looking super pale even hours later. The "matte" finish feels chalky or powdery on the skin. For the price of this sunscreen i don't understand how it has this many problems
Lorena13 from Miami
It is very liquid without texture. I definitely stick with it mineral sun block with tint
