I've used many different semi permanent colorful dyes over the years and this is definitely the deepest and most intense color deposit I've come across. I have naturally blonde hair at about a level 7 that's been lifted to a level 8. I was actually trying for a less intense color so I only left the dye on for 20 minutes, but this color is STRONG and left my hair a darkkkk purple that made my hair look like I had put purple over a dark brown. I ended up bleaching my roots/about 3 inches down so the blonde was visible again because I'm a committed blonde, which wasn't apparent at all with how dark this dye turned out. It's been 6 weeks and I've washed my hair (with a cleansing conditioner exclusively) probably 20 times and the color has definitely faded but it is still VERY much purple and with the fading I've actually reached the color and intensity I initially wanted. Pros: -smells great, fruity and reminiscent of artificial grape, doesn't smell like typical hair dye at all, grape smell lasted for a few days -INTENSE color -long lasting -quick results (can be washed out within 20 minutes) -doesn't bleed out in the shower (after the initial two or three washes) -doesn't stain clothing or towels when wet -leaves hair feeling soft and conditioned Cons: -very messy application, the slightest touch will stain skin/counters/anything encountered -stained shower floor and walls on initial rinse -might be darker than anticipated This is a great product if you're looking for an intense color deposit that will last longer than some other brands. If you're looking for a lighter color, I recommend mixing dye with a white conditioner before applying to hair. I've attached three images- my initial level of blonde, directly after dye deposit, and now-6 weeks later- with blonde roots and color fade after ~20 times cowashing.
I used this product in turquoise 2 weeks ago for homecoming.. cause yknow.. school spirit. Anyway.. I've used this product before in the pink and purple but just on my ends. I decided to be adventurous and use the turquoise all over my hair. The color was great! The only problem I have is.. it won't come out. It has faded to this light green and I've tried all sorts of things to get it out from anti-dandruff shampoo to vitamin c tablets. If you are looking for something that will last a while and you don't mind the fading.. get this. But if you are looking for something to last maybe a week.. just don't do it with the turquoise. ALSO! If you have thicker/longer hair you may want to get a couple jars because I only purchased one and barely had enough. Good luck on your hair adventure.

I always always use unicorn hair or arctic fox and never have issues with it staining on everything. Too hard to get off hands to rinse off my skin. It's a nightmare. All because they sold out of my usual brand I gave this a chance. Never again !!

I was really excited about these hair colors. I got turquoise and midnight blue and planned an ombre for my fine, straight, light brown, waist length hair. I have successfully used semi-permanent colors without bleaching in the past and ended up with beautiful tints that glow in the sun. This hair color did not successfully dye my hair, however it did successfully dye my shower, my clothes, my skin, my scalp, and my towels. I looked like a smurf. My entire body was bright blue, and even after 7 washes, it's still dyeing my shower and my towels, even though my hair isn't blue at all. Absolutely WOULD NOT recommend.

I got the Forrest Green and it is BEAUTIFUL, but I'm not sure at what cost. This color will get on EVERYTHING; the tub, the sink, your skin, towels, your pets, this color holds nothing back. I even used shampoo just to try to get it to stop bleeding after 12 hours. so on the one plus, this color isn't going anywhere, but that also means this color isn't going anywhere.

LOVE the color, but the transfer is a nightmare until a few washes. Even rinsing stains EVERYTHING (including you) Fades out nicely as well.

I originally started out using artic fox green phantom and ran across this brand "alpine green" it does stain your scalp and shower. however, it comes off quick. its longer lasting than any other semi permanent hair color that i have used. I have also used the color depositing shampoo and you can actually treat it like hair dye as well. I will say i bleach my hair prior to depositing this hair color.I reapply it and refresh it maybe once a month, and i was my hair on daily basis. I'm sure it would last longer for someone who doesnt wash it so often. its amazing i would highly recommend.

It didn't show up on brown hair at all. It's like it rinsed out completely after leaving on the hair for 30 minutes. It's easy to use, though. And stains on my bathroom counter did wash off without too much effort.

I love this dye and had a great experience with it overall. It does have a bit of a learning curve so I wouldn't recommend for a novice but once you get the hang of home dyeing, it's an incredible product. I bought Cotton Candy which looks more like a Raspberry shade in the jar. My hair was bleached to a light blond with some stubborn pink on the ends so I was thinking it would probably end up a nice ombré. I shave the back and sides of my hair to 1 mm leaving a long fringe on top. I slathered a thick line of Vaseline along my hairline and all around the fringe so the dye would not stain my scalp. I applied with gloves and a comb, making sure not to rub dye into my scalp. After I applied the dye, I used some toilet paper to wipe away excess dye on parts I didn't want colored and it wiped right off thanks to the Vaseline. I covered my hair with a shower cap and let the color sit for 30 minutes. Before getting in the shower I put on a new pair of gloves and set the shower for a cool rinse. I bend over and flip my hair forward to rinse dye out instead of letting it run down my back. This way I have far more control over the rinse. Holding the fringe away from my face with one hand I used the other to carefully rinse out the excess dye. I had no staining whatsoever. The dye rinsed off cleanly not just from my hair but my gloves, too, leaving not even a spot of dye in the tub or on me. Once it rinsed clear, I used a gentle shampoo to clean the Vaseline off. I didn't experience any bleeding of color on my hair towel. The color turned out fantastic - a baby pink on the lightened portion slipping into a brighter pink at the ends. My hair is also unbelievably soft without me having to apply an additional conditioner or mask. When I buy this color again I will dilute it with some conditioner to get a softer pastel shade. Overall I am thrilled with Punky Color and can't wait to try the other colors!

My hair is a natural very light ash brown with reddish undertones. I had a caramel colored balayage beforehand, but the color came out SOOOO bright and pigmented. It lasts a long time for semi-permanent. The only downside is that it stains literally everything it touches. I have to use bleach cleaning spray on the bathtub and the sink everytime I reapply the color every couple of months.

I never write reviews but was compelled to because I have never had so much success with a wash-in color! I loved that one jar was enough to do my thick AND long hair when I usually have to buy 4 boxes of hair dye. I left the color on for about 20 minutes and rinsed, rinsed, rinsed! The result is fabulous and the color looks very even (no messy transitions here!). Favorite thing about punky color: economical and even Least favorite thing: the scent could be a little better ;)

This product is amazing. I have had so many different hair colors and this dye is just the best. I have tried the Atlantic blue, flamingo pink, and alpine green. They do stain but the color is amazing. It's even better to do a Olaplex treatment to lock in the color. Just note you will sweat color the first 2 weeks. I also love using the color depositing shampoo to keep my hair extra vibrant. Only down side is IT STAINS SO BAD. No joke. My hands, jacket hoods, pillows, towels, light colored shirt collar are stained. Also they changed the sent where it no longer smells like grape koolaid. If you looking for a great hair color I recommend this 100% never used a better dye.

I've used the violet color 3 times now. I have extremely dark hair and this color shows up wonderfully and lasts for FOREVER. It can stain but I usually dilute it with a little water before applying it to my hair and use rubbing alcohol on the spots that get on my skin and it comes off pretty easily. I'll continue to use Punky and I look forward to trying new colors!

I have been dying my hair a variety of colors for years, and throughout these years, I have used a ton of different brands. Let me just say, this is THE ABSOLUTE WORST brand of hair dye I have ever used...EVER. Literally if you are thinking about buying it, definitely do not buy it. It's such a waste of time and money. My hands are blue, my face is blue, my tub is blue, my clothes are blue, my pillow cases are blue...everything is dyed blue except the one thing that I wanted to be blue which is my hair because this dye is just awful!!!! Everything I touch turns blue because it is impossible to wash off. The horrible part is, even when my hair is dry it continues to turn my clothes and face and hands blue. I am beyond annoyed. This product should just be taken off of the market because it is literal trash and I am so upset because everything in my house is a mess because of this stupid dye.

This is legit the worst tho f I have ever and I mean EVER put in my hair. Wow just wow. The black one stained my shower, my hands, my face, pillow, clothes. And this was after my hair was dry, I have never had this happen at all. Don't buy this, I am still blue everywhere in my body and I can't touch my hair because even tho it's dry it stains everything. The water never runs clear it just keeps coming off and I don't know what to do :(

I needed a change & got great results

It's a little different than the Jerome Russel days, but the colors are true and show up way better on dark hair than they used to. I miss the grape kool-aid scent.

and I've used a LOT (I was a Sally's advisor so I've tried tons and tons of brands!) This was pigmented, sure. But there's obviously a reason the black shade isn't even listed on Ulta anymore! It's stained everything... my nails, my entire body, my sink, the tub and shower. My scalp is purple. The tub is blue. My skin is grey. The dye itself was rinsing out maroon??? The water never ran clear, more and more dye rinsed out, I shampooed 4 times trying to get the water to run clear but this stuff just keeps getting everywhere. The best (worst) part? My hair is completely dry, I put it up in a ponytail earlier and MY HANDS WERE BLUE AFTERWARDS. My DRY hair is staining things! This stuff is a nightmare in a bottle. Avoid this at all costs, PLEASE.

Lesson learned. Don't buy hair dye that's on sale; there's a reason. Bought the blue cause it was cheaper than Overtone (which is what I use regularly) but it STAINS EVERYTHING even after my hair is dry?? I washed my hair about 10 times in one day, and I never wash my hair that much. Still staining my back, my clothes, my bed?!? Don't waste your money and time on this. I'm at a loss on what to do to fix this because I can't wear any of my clothes that I like because they will be stained blue!!
skullkisses from California
I ordered the blue one and the purple one, the colors were pretty but they stained so bad. I tried to rinse all the dye out but I would still get stains on my neck, shoulders and hands everyday even using soap to wash off some of the color from my hair (wet or dry hair)this is my first time trying this product I recommend their shampoo and conditioner product instead of this one;/
Susumagoo from Florida
I bought the cherry on top and oh my goodness I'm at my 5th wash and it's still bleeds in the shower, stains my hair is down to my waist and the back of my neck stains red after a shower/ sweating , wash my hair maybe once a week twice at most and it still stains my shower and my nail beds, I bought the red cause it was on sale for 75% off , not worth it it's gonna stain your towels your pillow case and if you sweat it's gonna run down your face

This product is great! The color came out more magenta than violet. STAINS everything! I have gel extensions and it stained my clear nails. The color is super bright and vibrant.
Laiken from Smyrna tn
Color not great and washes out during first shower.
Allison from San Jose
I get great color from these dyes but they bleed out on everything, even days later. Especially the cherry red. I used a little on my ends before going on vacation and I stained the shower in my hotel! I guess I should have thought about that first.

I used their blue before and LOVED it. I bought every color they had on sale to have on hand and I will be returning them so no one else deals with this. I got black since we're inching towards fall. HUGE mistake. firstly, you don't know what undertone it has because it stained the gloves blue and green and now everything I own is PURPLE from using the black. I've shampooed it so many times so nowmy hair feels like straw and it still continues to leave EVERYTHING purple. No idea what to do and everytime I shower its like an anxiety attack. You get one thing purple free, now everything else is purple. I have no clue what to do bc bleach will just damage it further but it feels like the best option.
