I got really curious and nearly bought it several times, but always ducked out because of the price. I haven't been shopping in person this entire pandemic (added to this is lack of childcare and my disinterest in shopping for myself with my young kids who do not have the patience to wait for me to smell things or try them on). I was relying pretty heavily on customer reviews and peer feedback. I had seen a few people say it smells of sunscreen, but thought they were outweighed by the positive reviews, so I dismissed them. But it does. It smells of sunscreen. Cheap, drug store sun screen. I washed my hair and body with the body wash and followed up with the lotion. I kept pulling my shirt over my nose to smell throughout the day, hoping I would pick up something pleasant once it had been on my body a while. Something clean. Powdery, even. But it smells like sunscreen in the bottle and on the body. I'll give the lotion the recognition of being very thick and creamy. So it feels good on the skin. But I splurged for a perfumed body wash and lotion set largely because I hoped it would have this lovely scent people rave about. I've used and enjoyed many of Philosophy's other products. But one brand can't do everything and expect to do it all well. I'll reserve my future fragrance purchases for dedicated perfumers from now on. This is what I feel about this product and its popularity: according to a Google search it launched in 2003. A lot of young women bought it and associated it with their teen/college memories. Maybe anything smells clean when you're in a high school locker room or college dorm. I don't know. But happy memories and spring break trips became mentally tied to this scent; and now these women - in their late 30s and early 40s have come back to it over and over again because of memory association. I don't know what else, other than the pleasant memories of an era, could get people to overlook the obvious disappointing chemical odor of discount sunscreen at a premium price. It is the "emperor's clothes" of fragrance. I don't get it. I wanted so, so badly to love this. It is rare some of us treat ourselves to something new, particularly something popular and name brand. My hopes were especially high after using and liking so many other Philosophy skin products.
