I put it on for the first time and went "Ooh."
The applicator was an interesting choice, but I couldn't have asked for a better formula. Use another brush with it, and the result is beautiful. 1-2 coats is enough, it shows up strong, sparkly, impressive-- dries immediately and stays put (no creasing, smearing, fallout, etc) until you want to take it off. I use a makeup remover cloth with a little coconut oil, and it's gone.
These are a lot of fun to play around with-- as a standalone product they look great, but I've also tried using them to complement the matte eye paints, and with other shadows/liners. My experience with the about-face eye products has been nothing but positive so far: I get a ton of compliments when I wear them, and I just want to buy up all the other colors so I can try them out too.
Look…I have LOTS of AF products and I'm a huge fan. The old packaging was cumbersome to store and bulky, but the applicator was superior to this one. I've had to return two different shades because the applicator and this formula doesn't jive well. I'm not sure why. It's the same packaging as the matte fluid eye paint and lip paint, but it's more of a doe foot shaped tip. The prior packaging was able to get plenty of product on the wand, however, the revamp has a hard time getting plenty of product out of the package. Thus, you're not able to fully experience the genius of this product because you're too busy fumbling around with the applicator trying to get it covered with product. If you can get your hands on the older packaging, you'll really experience what this product can do.
Now that that's out of the way, I have nearly every shade in both the old and new packaging. The formula is a gorgeous "whipped mousse" lightweight gel-like feel with very finely milled glitter with pigment mixed in. You can't go wrong with Above Santorini, a gorgeous jewel toned deep teal blue with teal and blue glitter. However, if you're more of a neutral fan, you'll dig shades like fracture and digital demise. There's a beautiful soft silver in this collection and the gold is stunning as well. All the shades are really beautiful and unique. Once this product sets, it's not going anywhere until you take it off. No flaking, fading, cracking, etc etc. I just wish the new applicator delivered the product as well as its former version.

I want to start off by saying that I was super stoked my local ULTA started carrying these and that I was even more excited to buy Smolder and try it out, until I had an awful reaction on my eyes from it.
When I first applied, it was hard to even blend out before drying way too quickly. As the day went on, I noticed my eyes itching but I didn't put too much stock into it until the shadow started flaking pretty badly. I even had a really good eyeshadow primer on underneath, but it started flaking after about four hours at work. I work at an office so nothing that is in any temperature extremes or anything of that nature to blame. As my shift went on, more of the shadow continued to flake and I had to dab at it to keep it out of my eyes.
Fast forward to getting home from work and I am ready to get this off of my eyes.
I removed it with my usual makeup remover very gently as I always do, and that is when my eye lids started burning very intensely. I noticed how red and puffy my eyelids were everywhere the eyeshadow had been and now they're super dried out and all swollen and crepey looking. I cannot even apply my most gentle eye cream because it burns horribly.
Tldr; if you have sensitive eyes DO NOT BUY! I would not recommend this to anyone(except maybe my worst enemy.) I have tried all ranges of makeup over the years, from cheapies to higher end stuff and THIS product is absolutley NOT it.
Will be returning and getting my money back ASAP.

It is sososo beautiful, it was sparkling even in dim lighting, didnt have that much fallout and, held up pretty well throughout the day. However, the wand does not pick up a lot of product and requires a couple of coats for the glitter coverage to be even, and once it was dry it was so dry that it clung to the texture of my eyelids and made my eyes feel very tight. I would recommend though because its just that beautiful.

Ive been on the fence about buying one of these paints. I love halsey and makeup, and have been wanting to try about face for awhile, but the price is a bit steep. These paints are worth every penny… they're stunning and stay in place all night. I got smolder & all about the benjamins and I'll be coming back for the others!!

While I love the glitter look of this product, the packaging is so atrocious that I'm not sure it would be possible to use this product more than once or twice. In fact, when I opened it I thought the product was entirely empty at first... I wouldn't recommend buying until they fix the applicator. Too bad, otherwise I would purchase in other colors as well!

It was so pretty! I work in a factory and it didn't crease at all and was super easy to apply really fast in the morning. I was getting so many compliments.

If you like a pinky shimmer eyeshadow, the shade smolder is one of my favorites in my entire collection. It's my favorite about face product and I recommend it to anyone. Iove that its not chunky plastic glitter, but a wearable sparkle.

I really love the formula of these and the colors are absolutely gorgeous BUT the applicator and the packaging sucks. Its so hard to get any product on the applicator. Please bring back the original packaging with the silver packet. It was soooo much more user friendly. The consistency of the glitter paints isn't sutable for the same type of packaging as the matte fluid paints. I still recommend it because it wear's beautifully, but just understand it will be difficult to get out of the bottle.

I absolutely adore About Face's formulations, from the matte eye paints to the cherry pick lip colors. Unfortunately, though I wanted to love these, they burnt my eyes incredibly. I have never had an experience like this with other
similar glitter shadows, such as the Stila Glitter and Glows and the Elf liquid glitter shadows. Personally, I would purchase those if you are seeking an alternative to these.

The color is so beautiful and I love the glitter but the applicator sucks. I could barely get any product on it the first time I tried to use it. Can't tell if there's even any product in there to begin with. Big regrets spending the money on it.

I get compliments every time I wear aboutface fractal glitter eye paints! They are all so easy to apply without any mess that can come with sparkle eye makeup. I have 4 shades and love them all! They do go on shinnier and blend easier with a base paint undernearth. Last all day and looks the same as when you first apply them on.

This shade (smolder) is absolutely stunning. Easy to apply and blend. VERY glittery

If i win the lottery I will be spending it on getting as many Tin Pan Alley as i can. It is so beautiful its insane. One dip of the brush can completely cover both eyes in intense glitter.

So on quick makeup days I always reached for the Stila liquid eyeshadow but i started having a reaction to it so i needed to find something new. The Fracture shade of About-Face was recommended to me as a replacement for my usual Stila shade (kitten). I'm torn about this. Love that it's clean beauty with a decent price point but the applicator & formula are not it. Hard to apply & cannot blend anything over top of it. Was long lasting & a decent color dupe but i had to return it. The formula seemed dry & i had to apply a couple coats to get it to show up (& it is exceedingly difficult to get multiple layers applied). Might try the matte if they get a shade i like since this was glitter…maybe that might be better.

I bought a few shades of these fitting the 21 days of beauty sale. I love how easy these are to work with and how easily they blend. I would have given this 5 stars, but one of the shades I bought came completely dried out. I literally couldn't get any product out of the tube so I will have to return. Besides that, I truly love these, and there was no cracking or creasing in 8 hours of wear
Samantha from Buffalo, NY
I bought shade Fracture and it is absolutely gorgeous. It dries fast and smooth, however I have to use a different brush to apply the product. The applicator is absolutely terrible! I bought this product on sale, so for the price I paid I feel as though it is worth it. I'm not sure if I would every pay full price though.
lemontyme from Michigan
so good! love these! fractals don't stay as well as the regular colors, but they stay all day and are super pigmented. like super, super pigmented. a little bit goes a looooong way.
Anna from Tampa, FL
This is a great product. It isnt sticky, it dries timely, its transfer proof, and pigmented. That being said, I wish the packaging was different. When you go to get more product, it doesn't go onto the applicator as well, you have to maneuver it a little. I also feel like the swatches are a bit different, I purchased Tin Pan Alley which is advertised as shimmering golden marshmallow, but it looks like a light silver with only a hint of warmth. I was expecting more of a champagne with a touch of light gold. Still pretty but a little too silver on my skin.
Jojo from Chicago IL
I got the blue shade, I believe the color is called shimmering sapphire. This is the first color I've tried and I layered it over a nude base powder shadow, it looks like it helps to enhance the color.
Breanna A from US
I love it but with all glitter it can smear a little when/if you rub your eyes. But it's nothing compared to pressed powder eye shadow.
Babyblues from Florida
The color Tin Pan Alley is definitely not the nude champagne to match its packaging…it is a bright metallic green/gold. Definitely gorgeous but not what i thought
Ambernie85 from Naperville
Bought during the 21 days of beauty sale and both colors i purchased were dried up. Very disappointed. I helieve now during these sales its expired product
Karah from Palm Desert, CA
The product is amazing and STAYS. There is no fall out and application is easy. It blends out when it's still wet and then stays like a dream. I get compliments nearly every time I wear it (which is every day lol). Won't ever go back 2 anything else!
