I have used Bare Minerals for years and slept in it, even slept with prestige mascara and eye shadow on! For years! But when you go into menopause EVERYTHING about your skin changes. I went from oily all over to combination skin and could not apply any eyeshadow or the skin around my eyes would crack, flake, and my eyes would water. I researched everything "clean" and this set is the best quality, reasonably priced matte set. The skin around my eyes stays soft and it lasts several hours (though I no longer sleep with eye makeup on). I just wish they sold individual colors because the buttercream is perfect all over and the pink is a great under-eye cover, so of course the darker colors are used much less. I hate having to throw out half-used colors when I need to replenish buttercream and pink. But until my eyes settle down this is my everyday shadow set.Most Helpful Critical ReviewStorm Chaser reviewThe Storm Chaser eyeshadow palette (PR sample) is the most cool-toned multi-shade palette offered. Unfortunately, all hues were too warm and muted against my pink-porcelain skin tone. I realize that shimmer has been all the rage for nearly 2 decades now, and I like an opalescent wash on my eyelids, but I don't care for so much of it. This was especially true for the lightest shade, Lightening, which I could not apply as a base due to its hyper-glittery finish. I'd love to see these palettes redesigned with an equal distribution of matte/satin and shimmer (matte especially for the lightest and darkest shades). It would also be great if one shade could be removed in order to double the size of the base shade. jane iredale makes the best mineral foundation on the planet, I've been buying it for 22 years. But I continually strike out with too-warm eyeshadows now that the excellent Pink Smoke, Taupe, French Toast, Iris, Platinum, Magic, Nude, White, and Wink have been discontinued. Storm Chaser is a high-quality palette and an excellent value. I'm 64 and have started using prestige products in the last 14 years and as I've reached 60 I started wearing matte eyeshadow so when I saw this I was disappointed because it looked like shimmer. I opened the way to cool magnetic case and gave it a shot. First, the shadows felt like silk. Second, they didn't show up until about 3 layers. Third, they lasted all day. Fourth, I was amazed since they looked very natural and really pretty. Fifth, I wouldn't want to pay full price but I might. I was very excited to try out a Jane Iredale palette, but I was rather disappointed in the quality. Even though the colors look really pretty, I found them hard to apply. I needed to swipe at least three times for each color to really make them visible on my eyelids. It worked much better to apply them with a wet brush or by hand. The color payoff was much better this way, and they stayed on throughout the day. As another reviewer say, Hurricane in Storm Chaser is too dark for brunette eyebrow. I still love all Jane Iredale collections, but I wish there are more options for matte colors. I hope someday Jane Iredale will make a refillable option so that I can pick my own colors for my eco-palette!
