Unless you have very dry skin, you should use this as a double/pre-cleanse. I have combination/sensitive skin with pore congestion on/around my nose. I use this as a pre-cleanse to help remove the top layer of my daily grime/oil before using my cleanser. I leave this cleansing oil on for 3-5 minutes to let it really work and rinse with lukewarm water. I follow with my preferred cleanser and a generous spritz of the Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Adaptogens, and Coconut Water. I think a lot of individuals expect things to work immediately. Yet it takes time for skin to adjust to products, depending. Everyone's skin is different and the same product is not going to work for everyone. It isn't necessarily a "bad product" if it doesn't work for you. You can have sensitivities to certain ingredients when others don't. It's trial and error when it comes to skincare. Your best bet is to seek a dermatologist if many products aren't working in your favor. P.S. Makeup wipes are the worst. Don't do it.
I got a travel size version of this for free with a purchase, and it has that lever/spout type top… which I hate because the oil gets all over the place no matter how careful you are. The way this smells is just so bizarre to me. I don't notice it too much if I just remove eye makeup, but if I remove anything by my nose or mouth it makes me want to gag. It's a lavender essential oil meets vinegar type smell to me. I also don't like that I have to use twice as many cotton rounds to remove my makeup with this stuff because it tends to smear the makeup around while it picks it up. The oil also stays on top of your skin, so even if you removed your makeup with anything else prior to using this, you'll still have to completely wash your face after this. Compared to the Lancôme Bi-Facial remover, this one is a flop for me. I will say though, a little does go a long way with this oil.

Barely breaks down makeup, especially mascara. It is very scented.

I have dry, sensitive, reactive skin. This cleanser has been my favorite the past few months. I was having a hard time finding a cleanser that didn't leave a white film on my face and washed all of my sunscreen off. Mario Badescu Cleansing Oil does a much better job than the cream cleanser I had been using and I haven't noticed any irritation from it, which is very rare for me lately. It works best if you rub it between your hands a bit before applying to a damp face.

I've tried several different cleansing oils and this is my favorite. It has a clean scent, takes off waterproof mascara and sunscreen, and rinses clean. I use it as part one of my nightly double cleanse. The price point is good and the ingredients are safe to use on acne prone skin. Winner!

I was using physician 10.0 (I think) almond oil but it's no longer available. I found this by chance and it was on sale when I picked it up. My skin texture has gotten so much better just by adding this oil to my routine. Will be using from now on!

I had written a positive review about a year ago that has disappeared by the wayside. I'm really surprised that the reviews are so poor. I originally purchased this when Ulta was having one of its sales, so I was able to get two at a very good price. MB is not a brand that I would typically be touting, but but I have to say that the product was very effective at helping me remove my makeup and it smelled wonderful. Now to be fair, if you don't like lavender essential oil then you're not going to like this product. And if you are prone to eye irritation then I highly recommend that you purchase an oil cleanser that has no fragrance. Still, this did a way better job at removing my makeup then a lot of the cleansing balms that are out there and frankly are quite pricey. I am currently using a Korean skincare cleansing oil, so I'm not using this product currently but I would certainly purchase it again and my memory was that it worked just as effectively. I really think it's probably one of their best products.

I am really surprised to see the negative reviews saying that this product does not work. I've used it, so far, two weekends in a row, after nights out with full face make up. Gets make up off w/cotton pads. Then I cleanse with it afterwards.

I could not stand the smell of this. It worked okay breaking down my makeup but others have broken it down way better. I hated the packaging as well. It was really messy and leaked every where. Definitely better oil out there.

So excited to try this product, but it did nothing to remove my makeup, left a sticky residue, and made my sensitive eyes blurry. MB missed the mark on this one :(.

I used it up but I hated it every single time. It smells like vinegar and that's the deal breaker for me. It breaks up makeup and works as the first step in a 2 step routine but literally any oil can do that. I would rather use cooking oil than this, the smell is just that bad.

The only Mario B product that didn't work for me. IT DOESNT REMOVE MAKE-UP.

This product burns the eyes. It claims to remove stubborn eye makeup. It took three attempts to remove my eye makeup and I wear very little.

this literally burned my eyes so bad they are still blurry half an hour after use, the bottle literally says good at removing stubborn eye makeup 😐

I previously was using Dermalogica Precleanse but in order to save a little money I tried this. Of course it's not quite as good as Dermalogica but still great. I have been using this for a year. I haven't noticed an odd or bad odor. It doesn't burn my skin at all. However with it having lavender essential oil it could cause reactions around the eyes to people who are sensitive to it. Other reviews say it smears their makeup around on their face. While I did notice it didn't "melt" my makeup up off completely like Dermalogica did, if used correctly it's not a problem. You use one pump and apply it to your entire face. I massage it and really work it into my lashes, lids and brows and get my stubborn makeup off. Then I continue massaging it all over my face. Then I splash my face with a little water and continue massaging and it creates a little bit of a lather. Then I rinse my face with water and every trace of makeup is gone. There is no use for cotton balls. It removes the makeup with your hands and rinsing with water afterwards. My face feels very clean afterwards. I use it daily in the evening whether I've worn makeup or not. It removes oils and dirt so your cleanser can do a better job. I've used other cleansing oils besides Mario Badescu and Dermalogica and this product is far superior. I love how a little goes a long way.

I received a travel size for free with a recent order. I use it every night to remove my stubborn Grande Waterproof Mascara. I use the smallest amount possible and rub it directly on my lashes and wipe. No harsh scrubbing required. I have not used this product on my entire face, just eyes. I will buy this again!

Love, Love, Love Made taking off makeup easy!

I absolutely LOVE this cleansing oil! It's so gentle and light! I have sensitive, normal skin with very few blemishes that gets a bit dry in the cold weather and this oil is perfect for me. It removes all makeup (even the waterproof) and leaves no residue. I exfoliate a couple times a week in addition to this and my skin has honestly never felt better! I would definitely recommend if you use cleansing oils!!

This burned my eyes quite a bit, and the scent was VERY overwhelming. It wasn't spicy necessarily, but it smelled like I was just rubbing herbs on my face. I guess this works for some people, just not me

I much prefer the DHC oil cleanser. This doesn't emulsify as well. And the oil burns my eyes. Not like crazy but enough to be the second thing that adds up to won't buy again.

Worst cleansing oil I've ever had. It STAYS on your skin. It DOES NOT come off with water like a good cleansing oil should. I waste time washing IT off my face instead of washing my skin. Why am I having to soap my face at least twice? When people say this company is overhyped, please believe them.
Harlow from NoThankYou
Like any oil (literally, aka coconut oil) it will break down longwearing or waterproof makeup. But it does not rinse cleanly from the skin. You will need to remove this oil with cleansers multiple times to get a clean face.

I did want to like this so bad. It's a great price for a cleansing oil and I like the ingredients, but it didn't work for my skin. It gave me little bumps all over my face, so I returned it. I am acne prone, so I can't recommend for anyone else who is also acne prone!

Takes off all my makeup easily, and my skin still feels really hydrated after. I have oily skin and this works well for me.

I love other MB products, so I thought I would love this too. Nope. It left actual tender burn-like marks on my eyelids after the first use. I will not be using it again.
