I have vibrant, bright red, Ariel from little mermaid hair. Before I got my hands on this amazing product, I would have to touch up my color every month or so (by this time it was light pink, orange, yellow, gross). I use it with the Joico red conditioner, and my hair has stayed vibrant (although a bit faded, that's just the way it goes) but overall, it is one solid bright red color and it refreshes my hair each time I shower. I only wash my hair twice a week (colored hair people where ya at?) and I have been SO happy with the results. I will continue to purchase this time and time again, in fact I have about 4 bottles under my sink just in case. If you have red hair, vibrant or not, GET THIS!!! 100% worth it and my holy grail product.
So I have dyed red hair and I was recommended this product on the basis that this product would be great! While at first, I thought this product was working; I started to notice a few things that were pretty similar across many reviewers. The first being that this shampoo and corresponding conditioner stained my skin. While I understand that many products meant for red hair do stain somewhat, but this was excessive! I put my shampoo and conditioner in my hands before I put it on my scalp so it drastically stained my hands. It not only stained my skin, but it also stained the floor of my shower and my bathroom. The second thing is that this product left my hair drier than it was before I used it! I had to use an outside brands leave in conditioner to add the extra moisture it needs! And the third being that it stripped the color out of my hair when I was showering instead of the adding the color deposits that it said it was going to. So in short I would not recommend this product, and would highly suggest looking for a different product!

I Wanted To Love This Shampoo & Was Trying To Give This Shampoo A Chance. Worst Red Shampoo I've Ever Used. Used 2x To Many First Time. I Put It On My Newly Dyed Hair It Stripped Off All The Color, So I Had To Redye My Hair Because It Made It A Horrible Orange/Brown Color To Me It Looked Gross. Then I Decided Maybe It Was The Dye Because It Wasn't The Usual Dye I Typically Use So I Tried It Again And Same Thing Happened And That Time My Hair Felt Dried Out As Well. So Definitely DO NOT GET THIS PRODUCT.

This product is fantastic. As a pose to the other products made by the same company, Joico. It does a great job keeping my hair that pretty maraschino cherry red🍒.

I have pretty blonde hair so I was bery cautions when cirst applying the shampoo. I diluted fhe Joico shampoo with my regular shampoo expecting to get great results and after 2 minutes of it sitting nothing happened. So I rinsed it out and applied the shampoo (not diluted) to my whole head and let it sit for 3 minutes - still nothing. In extremely dissappointed and I plan to return the product.

I bought this shampoo & conditioner because a sweet employee at Ulta recommended it to me, I know it was with the best intentions but I honestly hated this shampoo. It did the opposite for me, it actually stripped out the nice vibrant red that I had before washing it and left my hair looking a very dull, orangey toned red. The conditioner left my hair very soft and it smells good but did nothing but that. Defeating the purpose of a red shampoo & conditioner. It's definitely a no for me. 👎🏽

I wouldn't recommend this product. I dyed my hair red with my stylist and she recommended this just for a refresh but it does not refresh at all. I bought the conditioner and shampoo. I wash my hair twice a week max so I would utilize this in one of my washes and it did absolutely NOTHING. I even tried putting it on dry hair and letting it sit for twenty or so minutes like dye and still nothing.

I've used Joico products based on my stylists recommendation. I've colored my hair various shades of red and this stuff works to prevent fading. I think people make the mistake of thinking they can wash their hair more using tinted shampoos. Using this product, color preserve products, cold water and only washing a couple times a week, I've been able to keep red shades vivid for 8 weeks plus. It conditions as well, leaving hair feeling healthy soft. It is messy and can stain if you don't wash it off the surfaces in your bathroom right away. Also it's cruelty free!! Highly recommend!
Read directions from Cleveland Ohio
I'm confused by the comments because I read the instructions as everyone should and it says to wash your hands after using the shampoo and conditioner so it doesn't stain.... so anyone who's having those problems just doesn't like to read directions. I rinse my hands in the shower right after applying the shampoo and conditioner I've never had a problem. I'm confused why people have dry hair because this is been the best conditioner I've ever used and I have 4C curly hair. my hair can be nappy and dry and as soon as I put the conditioner on it it's the easiest comb through I've ever had. my hair stylist recommended this to keep my black with dark red ombre and it's worked perfectly. This will work for you if you read the directions.

To start of quick I was looking for a shampoo for red hair since the one I was originally using (Celeb: Viral Colorwash) I had ran out of and my hair was kind of starting to fade. This shampoo got recommended by one of the employees at the Ulta I had gone too so whatever I just got it. But just like a couple other reviews here, there's quite a couple cons. It definitely dries out your hair, mines felt like rope. If you have a bright red hair dye it will kind of turn it into a more wine red color which is one of the biggest things I didn't like. And lastly it will stain anything it touches, from your skin to your clothes to your shower/bath tub. So long story short, don't recommend this product.

I was looking to replace my village color depositing conditioner because I can't find that product ANYWHERE & it was my holy grail. THIS JOICO PRODUCT IS TERRIBLE. I've used it 3 times and haven't noticed a difference in color or in vividness of my hair. It's been dyed a ginger-red. If anything, my hair hasn't maintained it's color how it normally does, it's much less red and vibrant. It leaves my hair greasy and feels heavy, almost like the product itself is too heavy for my hair, which it may be. I'm going to return this because it's not the product for me. It HAS very powerful staining power though, so use an old towel. It stains everything BUT your hair.

My is vibrant red and my hair stylist uses joico brand at her salon and she has told me to use color depositing products so I got this and this instantly took all moisture out of my normal healthy hair very disappointed.
KPRSSS from Virginia
This product did nothing for my naturally dark red hair. It actually stained my hands pink and I had to scrub them. The smell is nice and my hair feels nice, but doesn't deliver as promised for naturals.
Lisa from Colorado
I color my hair a vibrant red and I thought that since I had good luck with the Joico K-pak products that I would have an equally good experience with this product. I found it to be very drying to my hair and it did not do much for my color. Since I color regularly I prefer some moisture since coloring is drying in itself. I will not be buying this product again. Even though I had a bad experience with this product it will not steer me away from the Joico K-Pak shampoo and conditioner.
