Probably my favorite scalp scrub that I've tried, and I've worked my way through my fair share. From what I can tell, there are two kinds of negative review for it, both of which show a fundamental misunderstanding of how scalp scrubs work: the first says that it dries their hair and scalp out, which, yeah? It's an exfoliant. You should be moisturizing thoroughly after using any kind of exfoliant, but especially for your face or scalp because the skin there (and the hair follicles) are quite sensitive. Use a hair mask after using a hair scrub, please. Ouai even has a line of masks with the same scent. The second of which is frustrated that the scrub just sits on their hair and doesn't penetrate to the scalp, which. Again, yes? This is clearly user error, obviously you need to put the elbow grease in and work the scrub past the hair and into the scalp. Admittedly this does take some practice to get the hang of, but you can give yourself a head start by parting your hair into sections and applying small amounts first. Then you just gotta roll up your sleeves and get your arm workout in. That said, I'll reiterate that this is a solid choice for a scalp scrub. The texture doesn't immediately break down upon first rub, and it doesn't have any of those nasty little beads in it (which are garbage for the environment). It's a nice thick paste, the sugar concentration is very dense, and it makes a very luxurious lather. The scent is nice, but I could see it being a little overwhelming for some people why sensitive noses (like mine). It's a little pricey, too, and I'm baffled that they would market such an expensive scrub as both scalp and body (which would use significantly different portion sizes per use).
The summer sun has really dried out my hair making my scalp itchy, so I thought I'd try a scalp scrub. After a lot of searching on the Internet and looking at reviews, I decided on Ouai. I was (and still am) nervous about using the glass jar in the shower, but I park the container on a shelf out of the way of the water. I first used it on my scalp. I'm not sure what I was imagining, but rubbing a salt scrub on your head isn't pleasant. The feeling is almost like getting sand in your scalp after getting submerged in the ocean, but removing it from said scalp is easier and more pleasant with this product, and the smell is very nice. I finished with by conditioning the ends of my hair only. The result: a clean feeling scalp and no itch, at least on the day I washed my hair. It got a little itchy when it was time to wash my hair again (two days later), and I used my usual shampoo with better results-no itch. I also tried the scrub on my body but forgot about the warning concerning keeping the stuff away from eyes. Some frantic rinsing later, I had no lasting effects and I enjoyed using the scrub more on my body than my scalp. The verdict: I will finish the scrub but I'm not sure if I will repurchase it or not. I'll need to evaluate again after using it more than just a couple times.

This scrub is nice, but I have very senstive skin on my armpits and they are both covered in huge, painful cysts after using this product. I'll use it the scrub on my feet going forward as not to waste it, but probably will not repurchase. I'd only reccommend this product if you don't have sensitive skin.

I ordered this during the gorgeous hair event, I previously recieved a sample of this and fell in love with the scent. The jar I just purchased has a completely different scent, smells like the leave in conditioner. It's still a good scrub but so is every other scrub… the amazing smell set this one apart so I'm quite bummed. I'm glad I got it on sale, but I won't be repurchasing it anymore.

The sugar melts before it reaches the scalp. So its really ineffective & hard to work with especially if you have thick hair. I would not repurchase. There is also nothing special about the smell everybody else is raving about. Thank god I purchased it while it was on sale.

The product has done the job, but i just feel like its not worth the price. You can get a similar effect of cleansing the scalp for cheaper. I like apple cider vingar rinses or salicylic acid rinses better.

This smells really nice, I give it 4 stars because of the price. Feels nice on the body & scalp. Makes your skin feel so soft.

This is really a good body scrub! It's good & coarse so it does a great job of ridding my body of dead skin. It leaves my skin feeling smooth & hydrated too! It has a great high end spa scent!

An expensive scrub but worth it in my mind. It's exfoliating but also suds out so as not to dry out scalp or skin. A nice scent but not overwhelming at all. I'm on my third jar and do not regret it.

I have very sensitive skin. I struggle to fine a good body scrub that isn't too harsh or makes my skin feel like it's coated in sticky oil. This product does neither. It scrubs beautifully, comes of cleanly, and leaves my skin truly silky smooth. Smells incredible. Very much a luxurious experience. Definitely something I will need to always keep on hand.

I LOVE the smell of this. It's amazing as a body scrub. It leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth. However, I didn't like it as a scalp scrub. It left my hair feeling gritty and dirtier than before, which is a little disappointing.

Felt like a lux spa experience in my own shower!

I absolutely love this scrub..I use it once a week as a a scalp scrub and it's amazing, especially when I feel like I have a lot of product build up. I've used it as a body scrub too but I mainly use it for my scalp. I'll get in the shower and wet my hair, apply it to just my scalp and then use one of those massagers to really get in there, rinse it out and then I follow it up with the detox shampoo and the ouai fine to medium mask and omg 😍. It also smells so AMAZING I've considered getting the Ouai perfume 😂

100% worth the price, smells incredible but not strong, just very clean and calming like a spa treatment. Love using this on my scalp and as a body scrub.

The Ouai Scalp and Body Scrub is a great product. I didn't give it a 5 star review because I didn't care for it as a scalp scrub. It definitely strips your hair of all natural oils and I didn't care for that. As a body scrub it was fantastic. I had Melrose Place for the scent and I didn't know if I would care for it but it definitely changed my mind when I was using it. I would definitely use this product again.

I enjoyed the smell and grittiness of this scrub. I love to exfoliate my scalp and thought this would be a great product to try! Which it was a good product but definitely not life changing, especially for the price. Since the product does have a lot of fragrance you need to avoid your eyes at all cost. It's BURNS. Not only does it just burn but it LINGERS. Of course I had the product in my shower which became very problematic because it began to melt. Eventually it became smooth liquid and no longer an exfoliant. Super bummed because I liked this brand and for the price of the scrub I was really hoping that it would live up to its name. I personally wouldn't purchase again.

I've seem a lot on how this product is too thick. If used in the shower it solves that issue. A lot of that comes from the salt crystals. If your hair is wet you work it in and scrub the scalp then rinse, since it is salt that is the abrasive parts it dissolves away with ease. Used it once with a scalp scrubber and my intense dandruff was gone immediately. Just use as needed when the dandruff comes back.

Use only on my body due to the awesome scrubbing particles in this scrub!! The perfect fade from coarse and exfoliating on to a moisturizing and conditioning lather. Even a good price for the price. Thoroughly obsessed!!

I regret not finding out about this scalp & body scrub sooner. Leaves my skin SUPER smooth and soft with little products needed. Not mention the amazing relaxing scent. This scrub truly makes it feel like you're having an at-home spa treatment.

I was recommended this by an employee when looking for something to help my scalp issues. The smell of wine in a jar was amazing. I believe attempting 3x of usage was enough to give a review. My scalp was felt clean the first night. In the morning my head was tight, had huge pieces of dried skin chips and stripped my hair of natural oils. Tried a week later and recreated painful ingrown hairs. Lastly the chunkiness of sugar caused slight little cuts to my scalp. I used gently, hard to spread overall causing me to over use unnecessary product. Would of liked to have kept as a body scrub but not for the price.

This smells incredible, it also has a lather! after rinsing it off my skin felt so refreshed.

I got a full size jar of this in a FabFitFun box. The more I used it, the more I loved it. So after I'd used it all up, I bought another from here. I really like the smell - smells great but not overbearing. I love using this on my legs and dry ankles, it makes my skin crazy soft! For hours! I use it as a scrub all over my body, but don't really use it all that much on my scalp. Just seems kind of tricky to scrub the scalp through all the hair, and I don't seem to be in dire need of whatever benefit the Scalp treatment is for.

Not one to write reviews but I didn't see anyone else post about this. I have fine hair and when I used this I had a lot of hair fall out. Used this a few times and it happen every time so threw it out.
