I mix this with just water and use it whenever my hair needs a nice reset, when its just not acting right. I have bra-strap length med/high porosity 4a natural coils that aren't heat or color treated (do not use clays on colored hair at all btw!!) and I find that this stuff is crazy softening, and when I apply it on soaking wet hair, I can condition and detangle with it, I like to use it whenever my roots get suuuper tangled (I can brush with it in!), my hair is so flat and soft after that it feels like I got a fresh relaxer lol. And it gives me beaucoup crazy definition while the product is in my hair, and after rinsing+styling, like each coil is defined to the root. Sometimes I'll follow this with a protein-free conditioner but you don't have to, and conditioners/styling products go on so much easier after use, so I can use less product. I don't use it super often, maybe once every few months, but each time I use it I'm reminded why I love it. Has a mild mint-coco-floral scent, I love it, doesn't feel tingly though, which I don't mind. Non color-treated naturals, this is a wonderful clarifying clay if you find that plain bentonite is just too stripping, it's everything a hair clay should be. :) Also the jar lasted well over a year for me, so it's pretty cost effective!! I'm about to buy another lol
Although this left my scalp feeling clean, it left my hair feeling like it needed a wash. Here's my step by step experience: When I was washing it out in the shower, I could instantly tell it had stripped all moisture from my hair and it felt very matted. I used some deep conditioner for a few minutes and detangled, but it didn't help much. So this is definitely not a 2-in-1 treatment. Be prepared to have to do a full DC. Then as I was styling, my hair dried much quicker which suggests the clay prevented water from entering my cuticles, which could also explain why the conditioner didn't make much difference. I have low porosity hair so I need that water! Finally, now my hair is styled and dry, it feels like it needs a good wash and like it has too much product in it. It also reduced my curl definition, and although I have 2C/3B curls, I barely had waves after using this. Overall, not very impressed with the product. Left my curls looking worse. If you have 2C/3B, low porosity curls, then I would not recommend it.

I love this mask. I makes my curls so defined! I will say once you use it don't try to comb out your hair. Use the clay and after washing out maybe lightly condition your hair for extra moisture, I like to put a little leave in conditioner on after for monster. My daughter is 3 with super thick, long curly hair and it works week for her curls as well. As I said previously, just don't try to comb your hair out after the clay is washed out. Clay it in the style you desire for best results

I am going to disagree with the negative reviews. After my first use, my curls were so defined. Even though I didn't need to, if you experience dryness and your hair is matted after using this product, try using jojoba or sweet almond oil when applying to your hair.

I really thought all the bad reviews were just user error but after using this product I completely agree with them. I was hoping for a product that would help detox and break up all the gunk on my scalp but this truly made my hair feel EVEN WORSE. I followed the instructions and even watched a few videos from their YouTube page before getting started. It's very hard to spread and once I didn't manage to get it on my whole head my hair was so rough and tangled it took me ages to get it all washed out. Once washed out, my hair felt 10x more gunked up and gross that I wanted to scrub my head with dish soap to make it go away. SAVE YOUR MONEY INVEST IN SOMETHIMG ELSE.

So this is tedious to put together but it's great as a hair clarifier too remove product buildup up. I have 3a hair with a bit 2C abs 3b . It's really think with medium porosity. I know it can be drying because it's a clarifying agent . I use it once a month at most and I leave my deep conditioner longer. It works well for me.

I have fine, low porosity, 2c-3a curls. First off this was very messy and second it left my hair matted. Regular shampoo and conditioner did not do the trick in getting this out of my hair. If this happens to anyone else try a cleansing shampoo. I used the one from Pattern and that helped tremendously. Once out I patted dry and added some leave in conditioner. My hair still doesn't feel great but at least I didn't have to try and brush that matted mess. I'm not sure if this just isn't for my hair type or what but this was a disaster.

I have fine wavy/curly hair that is bleached and high porosity. Bought this as it had so many fantastic reviews and I had an awful experience. My hair felt matted, dry and stiff after leaving it on 10 minutes. Went to the Flora and Curl site and there it warns you not to use on colored hair. Maybe that should have been obvious to me but really disappointed that Ulta failed to list that warning. Still trying to get my hair back to what it was before I used this. Hope this prevents someone else from this mistake.

First of all I did not care for how it mixed up, it was very messy. The clay is drying and my hair feels tacky like I need to wash it. I used an entire 8 ounce container of conditioner and my hair still felt dry, that it needed more moisture. I didn't have time to rewash it, so now I have gummy icky hair. I was really hoping this would be a great product, but it is not.

It helped my build up just with the first use!

I ran out of the clay hair wash that I normally use, so I decided to try this one when I saw it on ulta.com. And I am very glad that I did! Not only does it clean my hair well, removing product build-up, but it also conditions and has a very nice fragrance. I am replacing my old wash with this one. Great job Flora and Curl!

I have 3c-4a hair and low porosity curls. This product has quite of few good reviews and decided to give it a try. Well, let's just say that will be my first and last time using this product. I followed the directions to a T so I know it wasn't because it wasn't applied correctly. When I started rinsing it out, my hair felt so dry and gross like it literally took out all the moisture it had. I rinsed and rinsed thinking perhaps I'm leaving product in but no. Once I finally rinsed it out, it was so matted, couldn't de tangle or run my fingers through it, saturated it with water hoping it would help and it didn't. My hair has never felt that matted and dry ever! I decided to do a mask and I couldn't even apply the mask because i couldn't separate my hair and even with the mask on, my hair just was not soaking it in. Needless to say, I'm hoping rewashing my hair will help add in moisture because it feels/looks like the Sahara desert right now.

I've been looking for a good cleanser because my hair was looking dull from use of different curly hair products. My hair felt super clean after using it but not dry as it does with other cleansers. Im looking forward to using it again.

Have only tried this once so far but I've definitely noticed a difference. Quite messy to use but think it'll be easier next time when I know what I'm doing. I have medium length hair and will definitely use half the recommended amount next time as I had quite a lot left over.

Upon using it, I noticed immediate difference. My hair was soft, curls soo defined and so much volume! I've clarified with betonite clay before but honestly results didn't come close to this clay wash. Loved it.

I really love using clay to wash my hair, so I was excited to try this one and it didn't disappoint! It left my hair so soft and defined that I didn't bother to deep condition afterwards. I have 4a hair btw. I put in some leave in and the oil from this company and was done with my wash day. I love this clay. It's perfect for my routine.

I need to try this again as I don't think I applied it correctly. I have curly, grey, think hair, and I was expecting my hair to be frizz free after I used this product. That wasn't the case. My hair didn't feel very soft - it was kind of stiff and dry. Not at all hydrated like I expected (or as the product suggests). But again, I think I need to give it another go. It's a bit awkward to apply, also. I would like to know how to determine what type of curls one has. I don't see how to determine this on the product's website. Maybe my I have low porosity curls. Hair was more wavy than curly. Was hoping I would have bouncier curls afterwards.

I loved using the clay wash! It smells amazing and my 4c curls were super defined. It wasn't too difficult to use, but I did have to use double to amount on the bottle. It will definitely become part of my wash day routine!
