Most Helpful Positive Review Jack of all trades!
This device is the complete package. Dyson has truly outdone itself.
Here is what you get:
-Pre styling dryer or basically a mini supersonic hairdryer attachment
-1.6" Airwrap barrel x 2
-1.2" Airwrap barrel x2
-Firm smoothing brush head
-Soft smoothing brush head
-Round Volumizing Brush head
-A carrying case
This device is truly a Jack of all trades. Simply pop on each of the included attachments to either blow dry, curl, straighten or refresh your style the next day.
As someone that already owns and loves the supersonic hairdryer I thought there was no way the mini supersonic attachment could compete...boy was I wrong! I rough dried my hair in about 2 or 3 minutes.
After drying my hair about 70% of the way I wanted to give the round brush attachment a try. My hair is just above my shoulders, color treated and has a wave to it that is very frizzy and hard to manage. I've always been in awe of those that can do salon perfect blowouts at home. I, for whatever reason, cannot easily manage a brush and blow dryer at the same time. You need tension and the right amount of heat to smooth the hair and give it that volume. Enter the round volumizing brush attachment. Now I can easily do a salon style blowout at home with minimal effort. The round brush is grippy and really holds the hair in place while you create volume. I was so impressed how easy and fast it dried my hair without making it feel like straw. The end result was shiny, near salon quality blowout in a short period of time! So impressed.
The flat brush heads are great for straightening out or calming frizz. There is a firm and soft brush which each serve their own purpose. I haven't used these as much yet because the curling attachments are so fun to use! The firm brush head will give you more tension to straighten and smooth out your hair. Whereas the soft one will tame your hair but not necessarily straighten it all the way.
The real star of this device, and that's saying a lot, are the curling attachments. This is where the whole airwrap name comes into play. When I saw the curling attachments I was initially confused--there is no clamp or way to hold the hair to the attachment during styling...or so I thought. The curling attachments are like magic. Each size, large or small, comes with two attachments with arrows denoting which way it will wrap the hair--either curling it away or towards your face. You simply grab about an inch section of slightly damp hair hold the curling attachment towards the bottom of your hair and the airwrap magic does the rest. It will wrap, not suck, your hair around the curling attachment like magic. Hold it there for about 10-15 seconds and follow up with a cool shot of air to lock in your style and you either have a loser or tighter curl depending on the size of the attachment you used. I've seen other companies use a chambered device were you insert your hair to achieve a curl, which admittedly always scared me. I was worried it would burn or tangle my hair---not the case with the airwrap curling attachments. They do take a moment to get used to but once you figure them out you'll want to toss your curling iron!
I was able to blow dry and style my hair from start to finish in under 25 minutes. Typically I'd have to blow dry, then flat iron to get rid of any frizz that remained and then either add some waves with my flat iron or reach for my curling iron...which would take at least 35 to 40 minutes... and I still wouldn't get the body and bounce that the airwrap achieved! I also feel like this product is less damaging to your hair because it doesn't get as hot as my flat iron or curling iron.
The carrying case is awesome. My Dyson supersonic came with a pink carrying case and it's like tetris getting it back into the case, not so with the airwrap's case. There is plenty of room for each attachment and the case is high quality and sturdy.
Dyson has outdone itself!
Most Helpful Critical Review Returning Did Not Perform Well - Too Much Heat
I was on the fence between this product and the Dyson dryer, which my stylist uses on me and absolutely loves. Every time she uses the dryer on my hair it is fantastic. I recently had my hair done and asked the stylists in the salon their thoughts on the Airwrap vs. the Dyson Dryer as a purchase. They all agreed the Airwrap was difficult to use on clients and much prefer the dryer & they are professionals. So, being the curious person I am, I decided to inquire about it in-store and tried it anyway (against the advice of my stylist and others in my salon and my own better judgment). I disliked having to switch the barrels back and forth to keep my hair from drying too much on one side while I worked the other (work each side evenly in sections). The barrels were pretty hot to the touch even after the cold shot per instructions, the hair already worked was getting grabbed as I went along which made it a bit more frustrating. I tried the brushes and they have no grip for styling which made it difficult to get any volume with either paddle brush or the round brush. I don't see the dryer itself as a stand-alone tool since it is not made to style the hair alone. I don't think the full-blown set is worth the money and it is not that much more expensive than the others. For the money, I will return this and purchase the dryer and will get a lot more use out of it. The heat exposure from the tools is far too much for my hair and is higher than I would ordinarily get from my other high-end dryer that works my hair very quickly with a brush and a few quick hits with a flat iron and I am done (total normal styling time 12 min) Styling time with the AirWrap 45+ minutes. I have shoulder-length hair that is fine in texture but I have plenty of it. My hair curls very easily and has never had an issue holding curls or staying straight. Perhaps someone with another hair type that is looking for a different use would like a scaled down version of this, but it's not for me

I bought this styler/dryer a couple of months ago and love it. I will say, I had to use it several times and try different ways to get the best results for my hair.
I feel this product is not a good purchase for those with short hair.
It is best for medium to longer hair lengths.
This is the order in which I use the attachments:
1. I use the dryer attachment with oval center to dry my hair concentrating on the roots of my hair until it's approximately 85%.
2. Next, the round brush is used on my bangs and roots of my hair especially on the top crown that can get frizzy.
3. I part my hair vertically down the center of my head and clip one side. I use the barrel attachment that pulls you hair around the barrel to dry it. I then push the power button upwards to set the curl with cool air. Check with hand mirror and spray with hairspray to hold. This attachment is what makes this styler so fabulous, in my opinion!
4. Lastly, I repeat the last step and dry the other side of my hair that was clipped.

Some background: I am someone who Can Not Style Her Hair. No matter how many YouTube tutorials I mimic, the results are always messy. My hair is fine, and straight. Even when a professional stylist uses curling irons on me, the results simply fall out within an hour. For volume and body, the best results I've had in the past were from the Revlon One Step, but even in the low heat setting, it caused significant breakage. I couldn't keep using it. I want to keep my hair strong and healthy-looking more than anything.
The Airwrap is, to me, WORTH THE PRICE because the low heat is gentle, and because it dries and styles at the same time, the results last. When I use the 1.2" curling rods, I have bouncy waves for two full days, which is a record for me. The first time I used it, it took about 15 minutes to go from damp straight hair to a whole head of soft curls. There is definitely a learning curve since the curling rods work differently than other tools. Watch the official Dyson videos on how to achieve specific styles, pick one, and try it once or twice. Also, seek out YouTube videos by people who have used the Airwrap for a long time (skip the ones by people trying it with no guidance for the very first time...not helpful).
The round bristled brush is great for a voluminous, smooth finish like the Revlon but without the damage.
Not completely impressed

I really wanted to love this product. I have been dying to purchase it for so long now and I am sad to say I am pretty disappointed. I will use the straight styling brush to dry my hair before using a hot curling iron but that's about it. I don't trust the styles to stick- regardless of how much hairspray I use. I hope this product will work better for me in the winter with less humidity

So simple and so versatile. Everything I expected for the investment!

I have fine, but very thick, wavy hair that's stubborn at the front of my face. This saved me at least 30 min and gave me a professional looking blow out. Worth the money even if you never use the curling tools.

The tools are useful. I like the quick drying action and the way my hair feels afterwards.
Didn't love it like I hoped

I have fine hair but quite a bit of it which results in super flat hair. I am on a forever mission to find products and tools that add volume to my hair and after watching countless videos and reading every review I could find, I decided the Airwrap was worth a try and purchased it a month ago. The technology is really amazing, I'm not knocking that at all. Clearly a ton of people love it. Unfortunately I did not. The hair dryer attachment is great. I've never used a hair dryer that left my hair feeling so nice. The volumizing round brush is nice too but left me with more frizz than a traditional hair dryer/round brush combo. The smoothing brush did very little for me. It left my hair extremely flat- ugly flat, and I still had to go in with a flat iron to straighten it. The curling attachments are really neat. The way it wraps the hair around is almost magical. I have shoulder length hair so unfortunately the curling attachments left me looking like a doll and not in a good way. All the curl was at the bottom and the top was flat and frizzy. A couple other notes- I like that the Airwrap uses air instead of heat, but it does get very hot. Every time that I use it, I'm sweating and red faced (and that's on medium heat!) To expound on that, it takes awhile. I got comfortable using it after about 2 weeks and it still took longer to use the Airwrap than it would to blow dry/curl my hair. And I have short hair! Also, I had a lot of frizz in my hair when I used the Airwrap. I used it 3-4 times a week for a month so I was trying different products, different techniques, very precise sectioning my hair out of the way... and I found that no matter what I did, the Airwrap blew my hair upwards and created a considerable amount of frizz. Overall I didn't think it was worth the price and I returned it.
Oh ma gaaad

I knew this was special when I picked this up from Ulta. It had my adrenaline pumping. Dyson opened itself and started blow drying my hair to make it a lil damp. Then it attached (my favorite) blowout attachment and girl did it blow me out!! 100/10 RECOMMEND

This product was a gift from my daughter, who has a Dyson hair dryer. I am still learning and experimenting with all the features and methods of use. The attachments are excellent, depending on the style you're going for.

i have very curly, frizzy, and thick hair. i find it easier to just style my hair everyday because its easier to maintain and im not a huge fan of my natural hair. I use to blow dry my hair with a round brush for 30+ minutes and then go in with a straightener or curling wand. with the air wrap i can dry and style at the same time! saves me sooo much time!! it takes some getting use to but i say if you style your hair a lot like i do this tool is 100% worth it.

An all-in-one hairstyling tool

I had purchased the original Dyson hair dryer and loved it. When I saw what the Dyson Airwrap could do, I immediately purchased it. All the needed tools in one package. So easy to use and my hair is not exposed to the heat of a curling iron. Having purchased other Dyson products in the past, the expense will prove to be well worth the price.
It's my second one, absolutely love it.

What a wonderful addition to hair care products! Using the Dyson Airwrap is like a magic! The way my hair magically wraps around the curling tool and never gets tangled. The curls it creates are stunning!

I bought this product and love it! Love the curls and comb to straight hair, this product is awesome. Wished a handle would be made to the box the product comes in.
All in one amazing device!

I absolutely love my air wrap dryer. I don't even use my separate dyson hairdryer anymore. My hair is fairly curly and the air wrap allows me to straighten and add curl all at once using different attachments. Drying my hair is quicker, easier and less damaging. I love the bigger curling attachments. They work really well. I love that I don't have to use a brush and separate dryer with both hands. Fantastic product! Expensive but totally worth it!

I found there's a big learning curb when it comes to all the attachments.
Once you get the hang of it....

Carrying case is handy. Doesn't get too hot. Arrows were confusing on the wands, but you figure it out the minute you start curling. Curls last for 2-3 days, turn into waves (coarse, medium strand, long hair).Highly recommend watching videos and reading the user Manuel before you start.
Just so so

Purchased the complete set. Do not recommend for fine medium length hair. Hair dryer doesn't not provide enough lift and curling was a challenge as true wand attracts fine hair previously curled. I have small hands and I found the width of the handle of one to large and cumbersome to be comfortable. I did return the product after trying and received a full refund, which I appreciated.

I am so happy I made the decision to purchase this styler. It is pricey and I really gave it some thought since I already have several different styling/drying devices! Since I've been "safer at home" and not eating out, traveling or generally spending as much, I justified the expense! So glad I did!

I'm loving this AirWrap! I love that in the same time it would take me to dry my hair previously I now can dry and style in the same amount of time. Not to mention that I never really got the hang of curling irons before and this is just so easy to use! I've only used it a couple of times since it was delivered so I'm still in the learning curve phase but have received so many compliments on my hair each day already and it will look even better as I get better at it. I also love how shiny and bright this leaves my hair without a lot of heat. Definitely glad I splurged!

I have never had a better hair dryer, or hair tool in general. I have longer hair so I ordered the long barrels and I couldn't be happier with my purchase!
I wish I had this in high school

This is the best hairstyling tool I've ever used. It's saving me so much time. No need to use a separate flat or curling iron. And I don't feel like I'm damaging my hair. My only criticism is that it tends to feel a bit heavy after a while, but I love it.

I love my airdrop, I bought 2. An attachment idea, I would love a boar bristle brush mixed with nylon for extra smoothening and shine.
Transformational Tool (Complete Set)
Chris in San Diego from San Diego
I use this most days: on wet hair (best for long-lasting results) and on dry hair (to freshen on days when i don't wash). I've had the full set for about a month now and have grown more dependent on it everyday. I've written other reviews on other sites and previously gave it four stars because of the expense and learning curve; But after devoting enough time to finding out how to use it on my hair, I'm giving it five full stars. Note that it still isn't perfect, but it is far and away the best hair styler/dryer that I've ever used. My 70 yr old hair is very fine, bleached, damaged, and wavy (almost curly) but it doesn't really like to hold a style. (So if I don't use enough product, it will fall flat even with this device. And I often touch up during the day.) The dryer is powerful and really fast but a little loud. I find that I use almost all of the tools depending on the weather and how freshly washed my hair is and what it seems to want to do. But when I've gotten it right, it's absolutely gorgeous and really quite simple to use after you get the hang of it. I suggest watching a LOT of videos so you can get as many tips and points of view as possible: How to hold the main handle so you can reach the buttons when you need them (this is really key), how to understand/use the arrows on the wands (remember to look at arrows in the mirror, not in your hand); how long/how hot to hold in place (for me, it's best not to go above medium hot on wet hair, but I can use the hottest for a few seconds on dry hair if I hold it far enough from my head; and of course which tool to use in which circumstances. Then, see how the tips apply to your hair. (What works best on someone else, may not be the trick for your own finicky hair). But whatever you do, don't give up. You will find what works, and I'd be surprised if you aren't eventually delighted enough that you wonder why you balked at the price.
