I did not read any comments online prior to purchase, and I was surprised that other people experienced the dry minerals that feel like dried product that balls up. Like most people, I was a little upset (at first). Then I thought that maybe the ball-like texture was how the product was supposed to be, so i pressed them into my face and they disappeared! After I grabbed my second "dose" of sunscreen, the grittiness was gone! I assume that it happens in the beginning of the product, but it has not happened since. This sunscreen is AMAZING! It doesn't make me look chalky or as if I am wearing added makeup. It actually felt very soothing to my skin!

I have been looking for a daily sunscreen to use that does not leave a white cast on my skin. I've seen many good reviews for this one, and decided to try it. I love that it is not greasy or oily, feels very lightweight, doesn't break me out like most sunscreens and that it provides a nice base for my makeup. I will say I am not a fan of how hard it is to rub in, I feel like I'm going to scrub my face off, but after it is rubbed in it feels like I'm not even wearing sunscreen. It did not leave a white cast per say but because of the tint, it looked almost as though I was wearing the wrong shade of foundation, if you are a person who wears foundation, this may not be a problem because you could just cover it up, but I do not and it just made me look very pale and thus after putting on my makeup I looked almost like a clown. If you have a lighter skin tone this may not be a problem but I have medium-deep skin and this did not work for me which is disappointing because the formulation is great. Perhaps in the future they can release a line with different tints for different skin tones!

I forced myself to finish the bottle. It has a very nice almost powdery finish once it dries. It also has a lot of granules and feels like you are rubbing sand on your face especially when you get closer to the bottom of the bottle.
I hate this
Jasmin from Georgia
I was so excited for a tinted mineral sunscreen but I cannot explain how much I hate this. it feels rough on your skin & balls up instantly. with/without anything underneath, this just sucks.
Jaclynn from california
the consultant at ulta recommended this but this is the worst sunscreen i've ever used. so gritty & takes forever to rub in. going to be switching back to my supergooo!
Nid from California
So when I first purchased this it was fine, no gritty was to it and applied very well, did feel lightweight but does feel kinda oily after applied It what's a light sheer coverage it it so I use this on the days I don't want to wear foundation because I found that this is not ideal to wear under makeup especially a full face. Your make up will not last! But on my "natural days" I wear this with a little bit of concealer, lightly powder my face to get rid of some of the oily look and I'm very pleased with how My face looks and feels.
To the gritty comments: like I said at first it applied like normal. No grittiness...however when I lost this in my car for like a month or 2 it turned and it became gritty. So if you this problem right after purchasing it. Return or exchange it because it has turned, it's not supposed to feel like that
love the mild tint but hate everything else
manju from pittsburgh
acne breakout, gritty and it pills off.. a popular tiktoker suggested me this one.. this sucks man!!
MP from Moscow, ID
I liked how it felt after rubbed in but it has a bunch of sand-like granules in it. I read that that can mean it is expired, will be returning.
Nice tint, no white cast, but very gritty
Barbara from Chicago
This could have been a perfect mineral sunscreen (it has zero white cast) if it didn't have a gritty texture that briefly reddens my skin. It feels like when you're at the beach and you have some sand on your hand as you reapply sunscreen. I hope it gets fixed, this has potential to be a favorite sunscreen.
Feels like sand
Liz from Chicago
It's a nice tint not to much. Really does feel like sand on your face. You'd think it would almost dissolve with the warmest of your hands but it doesn't it's like sand sitting on your face.
Sunscreen Dreamer from Duluth, MN
I have tried this product alone on the face and with moisturizer under it and both times if felt like it was scratching up my face. It hurt more than scrubs normally do! I know it isn't supposed to be like this and I am very disappointed as I was really excited to try this sunscreen. Once it was on though it worked fine and blended well. I am assuming it was probably a bad batch, but that really shouldn't be happening at such a high price point.
Bad Batch? Gritty
Emily from Simi Valley
I've heard many good reviews about this product, but when I got it there were lots of little chunks that were hard. I think this must have been a bad batch, because I have not heard of this before. If it did not have the gritty pieces, I would definitely buy this, because the tint is not too strong and it feels lightweight.
Monica from New York
I've been scared to test out new sunscreens due to my rosacea and sensitive skin, so I was skeptical trying this out but I ended up LOVING IT. The tint is very sheer. I have more light/medium skin tone with pink/neutral undertones and this blends perfectly into my skin. I have combo and somewhat sensitive skin and this doesn't feel greasy (has a slight mattifying effect) in anyway and it's not irritating. I have rosacea (not severe) and this doesn't flare it up. It's a bit pricy but honestly it's worth it. I will repurchase.
It's true. Gritty and unpleasant
Menari from NY
I thought the complaint about its texture was personal. But I now that I tried it I can also agree that it feels horrible when applying this to one's bare face. It's like mixing sand and water and rubbing it to my face. I had high hopes on this one, and it didn't turn out like I wanted it to be :(
Good for Women of Color
Christiana from STL
I've tried a bunch of products but this one little blends into my skin and gives it a nice subtle glow.
DO NOT BUY
Ambrosiaa from Texas
Imagine rubbing sand on your face, this is what it feels like! A waste of my money
Very Fair Skin
YetisAreReal from San Diego
Tint is sheer. Even with my very fair skin, this gives an undetectable warmth to my skin. This isn't as tinted as most tinted moisturizers. More like a light oil than a cream on the skin. Very light, works well under primer/makeup or when worn alone it subtly evens out any redness or uneven color.
Gritty & Not for oily skin
Santos from NJ
I thought i had received a bad batch or something and a sunscreen couldn't possibly feel like a scrub!? Absolutely unacceptable.
The tint was fine but barely a noticeable improvement.
I also have OILY skin and this was not my favorite compared to the superiority of like a Korean sunscreen that's actually cheaper....
Sad of the huge letdown. Careful with overhyped products people!!
Greasy, orange, and super gritty
Beck from KS
I don't know if I got a bad batch, but this sunscreen is gritty like an exfoliating scrub. And not something refined. Like the St. Ives walnut scrub. I shook it for a solid minute before using it. Awful. I will be returning it.
Don't buy this
steph from sterling
Tbh I really thought this sunscreen was going to be good for my face. Unfortunately it wasn't, 15 mins after i applied it, my face was breaking out by that i mean whenever i try to touch my face the product would come off my face as if i couldn't rub or touch my face. It took me forever for my face to dry. i have a dry face and my T zone is oily but who isn't right? this product made my face oilier and i have a picture of what my face looked like after using this product.
Don't waste ur money ladies.
Sulli from SC
This product is not drying at all which is usually an issue with so many other mineral sunscreens I've tried. And amazingly, it doesn't leech into my eyes no matter how long I have it on - huge plus!! Unfortunately, the product contains what I can only describe as shards. Huge pieces of solid product that are visible with the naked eye. I can't even accurately call it gritty; grit is much smaller than what is in this product. So disappointing.
Sarah from Orlando, FL
The first time I bought this product, I enjoyed it. It was smooth, gave a nice glow and suited my sensitive skin. However, the second bottle I bought, I returned. It was gritty! Felt as though beach sand got into the mix and was much to rough on my skin. I will not be purchasing again, as I have lost trust in the quality of this product.
Gritty and orange
J from USA
Normally I love just about anything from FAB but this sunscreen is gritty and because of the tint it makes me look really orange. Whenever I use this I absolutely have to apply foundation or else I look ridiculous. It doesn't cause breakouts for me so I'll give it credit for that and overall it works as well as a sunscreen can. If you can put up with the beads in it and you're not pale, then you might like this product.
dimagu from SoCal
For starters, I have sensitive oily skin. Just about everything makes me break out. However, this didn't, that's why I gave it two stars. The bad; It has tiny white beads in it, it's greasy feeling, doesn't absorb into skin, layers horribly under makeup and my face was constantly sun burned. My HG sunscreen search continues...
My favorite tinted sunscreen
Bfont from San Francisco, ca
I LOVE this product. I swapped all my other makeup just for this. I used to have horrible breakouts and putting makeup on top of it made it so much worse. This actually helps my acne heal when I wear it, it's not drying and I think it has decent coverage as well. My mom also started using it and it looks amazing on her as well. Definitely recommend if you are breaking out and need a good non comedogenic make up
ReapplySPF!! from USA
I read a lot of reviews saying this sunscreen had gritty "beads" in it and unfortunately I had the same experience. It definitely makes you question the quality of the product. Another thing I didn't care for is this product was greasy and just sat on top of my skin. It looked as if I had a film of oil on my skin all day and it never dried down. This didn't break me out though and I didn't burn.
Not very good
Fuzzy from Spokane, WA
I got this as a sample from Ulta in one of those sampler packs. I don't know if I got a bad one but it was extremely gritty right out of the bottle. It was also very hard to try to spread around which caused it to pill. Within a few hours my face was an absolute oil slick and looked really gross. Definitely disappointed and will not be purchasing this in the future.
