Most Helpful Positive Review SO. GOOD.
I'd been curious about Tan Luxe for a while but only made my purchase after receiving a gift card from my Mum. I decided to go "all in" and purchased this product in Medium/Dark, the face drops in light/medium, and the body drops in light/medium. They're all great, and by far the best self tanning products i've tried... but THE WATER IS NEXT LEVEL. You literally just spray it on (use a tanning mitt!!), blend it out, and there's no texture left behind. No sticky feeling, no long drying time. I sprayed it onto dry skin, as the directions suggested and was able to put on clothing right away with no stress of it transferring or streaking. It was SO easy. The drops are great, but do have a little of that traditional self tan odor. It's nothing unbearable, but it's there. But with The Water, it's almost non-existent and I only smelled it after it had been developing for 3-4 hours...and event then, as I've said, it was very very very faint. I didn't use this product on my face, but I feel like it'd work beautifully for the face as well. Woke up the next morning with the most even tan i'd ever received from a self tanner. Problem areas were wrists, and ankles..but that was my fault to be sure. I recommend purchasing the St. Tropez remover mitt for exfoliating off those mistakes in the shower, it's a very handy tool! I'll definitely be using this product ALL SUMMER. The tan looks beautiful and realistic. Nothing orange or red, just looks like i've been on a lovely holiday...and for reference i'm naturally a light/medium skin tone with yellow/olive undertones. Lots of self tanners tend to pull toward the orange on me but this one didn't at all. I'd imagine the Mousse is similar in it's amazingness, as they're both totally clear and are made to dry very quickly with no sticky texture left behind. The Water is a holy grail for sure, please buy it if you're in the market for a new self tanner and like me feel you've tried them all..... you will not regret it!!!

Excellent in theory, poor execution. This stuff is impossible to use unless you're a sunless tanning master. I consider myself to be a pretty experienced one but this stuff looked blotchy and streaky. The color is not natural and by day 2 it was already fading in spots. I bought the face drops from tan luxe as well and I LOVED them. I am just so disappointed in this particular product especially for the price point. I will be returning it. If you're used to products with a bronzer or a color guide, this is not for you. Also, it does smell. Not sure why it says it doesn't! It does dry quickly and doesn't rub off, pretty much no other pros though.

I've tried and returned several tanners. This tanner goes On easily and is not sticky or smelly. It applies evenly and dries so quickly. The color is natural looking.
Beat tanning product I've ever used (and I've used a lot!)
StephW from New Hampshire
I have tried MANY tanning products over the years and this is hands down my favorite. Although it doesn't give me the darkest color, it is super natural and nice. It had taken me a few trial runs to get it right (I.e how to apply, how much, when) I have found it works best when applied with a tanning mitt. You definitely don't need to be a tanning pro to get this product, but it does take some trial and error so be patient with it. Because I guarantee this will be your favorite tanning product when do you understand how to apply it!!
Had allergic reaction to it, need to return it

Was great besides minimal splotching

I love all Luxe Products but this is my favorite. A nice even deep tan that you don't need to reapply every day. I use it about every two days to keep from getting blotchy. Would recommend every time!
Nice tan, but for tanning pros
Nina from Santa Rosa
Hello y'all. The pros: This tanner leaves a nice color, smells yummy, is very natural looking and transfer resistant. The cons: you cannot really control the spray so it got every where and bc it was on my tile the bottoms of my feet are stained, it is splotchy (only bc I am not a tanning pro) and the color fades quickly. Going to try their gradual tanner next :).
Tricky for a Newbie but still worth the price

Overall I really like this product. It is a little expensive, but I feel with self-tanners you get what you pay for. I only gave it four stars for two reasons. The first was because the tan did not last that long. I went further between showers just to see how long it would last before it started to fade. Within three days, the color was fading. It does fade evenly though. Secondly, because I did get splotches and streaking. However, with this being my first time with self-tanners in literally years, it may not entirely be due to a product issue, but rather that I just did not apply it evenly. I will continue to use this though because the color is beautiful-not orange at all. It went smoothly onto my face and left no streaking there. The only places I had issues were with my limbs, everywhere else is perfect and beautiful! I will be using it again for sure and try to improve my application technique.

First off, I never write reviews but I feel this product needs my praise. I have tried every tanning product there is to try and this is by far the best I have EVER had. It is so easy to apply. Its not a time commitment like some of the other products out there. It doesn't leave streaks, dries almost instantly, and the tan looks soo good. I am hooked!! Seriously BUY IT!

The comment saying "you have to be a tanning master" to use this is COMPLETELY FALSE. This was the FIRST tan I had ever used and it came out beautifully despite me not knowing what I was doing.
I would totally buy this again
Bella from Mobile, AL
I exfoliated first, then after spraying sections at a time, I used a tanning mit to make sure it was even
Good not great
Kait from Indiana
Dries fast and isn't sticky! Doesn't smell too horribly bad like self tanner which is always a plus. Not very streaky. Only downside was even the darkest shade wasn't dark enough for me, and I am a very pale person. Hoping for a dark/super dark shade soon.
LOVE Tan-Luxe The Water
Perksx2 from Kansas City. MO
I have tried many different tanning creams and sprays. I always looked orange and splotchy or the scent was awful. The Water is AMAZING! It gives you that perfect sun kissed look. I showered, exfoliated, sprayed on The Water and went to bed. The next morning I had a nice light tan. I used it for 3 days in a row to get the color I wanted. Then started doing it every other day to maintain. It is quick and simple to apply and only takes a few minutes to dry. Use a tan mitt to get rubbed in evenly. Just bought my 2nd bottle. I know it is noticeable because many people have asked where I have been to get such a great tan. I am pretty sure I will be using this forever!
Love this tanner!
Jme from Indianapolis
I love love love this self tanner! Easy to apply. Even application and color. I can put it on after a shower, leave the house, without feeling sticky or having that funky tanner smell.
My favorite self tan!
Lindsay from Texas
The best. If you go light, you get a very subtle wash of color. Add more, and it intensifies the color. Natural tan, not shocking (in a good way), fades evenly, isn't patchy! I love it! Have been using it for months!

So easy to use and such a great result, definitely recommend. I did also buy a mitt to blend it out which helped get the amazing results.
Thoughts on first application
Fairintexas from Texas
This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm very fair and wanted something that would give my skin a little color without being too smelly or rub off on white sheets. When you apply it, it does have a scent- it's not bad, it smells like an expensive hair product (sort of cologne-y, not like a self tanner) but once it dries down it doesn't have a smell and it doesn't doesn't transfer onto other stuff like clothes or sheets. You can apply just a little for a little color or layer it on to build up a more noticeable tan. Perfect to customize your preferred level of color. I will say though that there's a bit of a learning curve in figuring out how many sprays you need for each section of your body since it goes on clear and takes a few hours to start developing.
Surprisingly good product - much better than lotions
indianame from Indianapolis, IN
I gave this several tries before reviewing it. I like this much better than the thick lotions that smell so bad. This is light with a very faint scent typical of tanning products. I have an incredibly sensitive nose and this has so little smell that I don't know how anyone could complain about it.
I use it before I get out of the shower and the dampness from the shower aids in smoothing it around. The spray is a super fine mist so don't worry that you'd be spraying a blob of it onto one are of your skin. It's very easy to use and I've had no problems with streakiness. The only flaw I had was that I applied too much to an area on my ankle and ended up with a splotch on a dry patch of skin. Someone had mentioned using makeup remover if you get too much in one area and I did that and the next day it wasn't a problem.
I am not an experienced self-tanner so the fact that I've been able to use this successfully says a lot about the efficacy of the product.
Fresh, light scent but a little warm
Cardi B from Detroit
I have pretty fair skin with olive undertones. I got the medium dark color, because I self tan often and I felt comfortable to use a darker color. It's got a good scent to it and blends in pretty easily. I used my bondi sands mitt to apply it. I didn't notice any transfer onto my white bathroom floor either which was a plus. The only downside is it is a little on the warmer toned side.. my hands were a little orangey. Overall I love the technology of this and I didn't have much of that fake tan smell either.
I will only buy this self tanner!
Tannerqueen from virginia beach
I love this self tanner. I have been an avid St Tropez user for years. I'll apply my tanner and take a shower the next day and almost half runs off. NOPE not with The Water from Tan Luxe, I saw nothing wash off. I've taken three showers since applying it and it is still just as beautiful as day one. It was some adjusting with it being a spray water but I will only use this stuff! It's awesome, I used the Medium/dark
Deanna from Mooresville, NC
I'm fair to medium skinned with pink undertones. I usually use St. Tropez because of the green tint. It comes out less "orange". After my first use of this tanning water, I almost took it back because of the hue. However, after two showers, it faded quite nicely and doesn't look so bad. If you have warm skin tones, this would be a great product for you. It is moisturizing and has virtually no odor after the second day. It had Superior non-transfer qualities, the best I've seen. The light hue is the only reason I did not grant a five star review. I would buy this again.
Love this product!

I will definitely buy it again. It smells wonderful and leaves a natural color.
I am a FAN!!!!
MJ from Missouri
I have always been a tanning bed and sun worshiper. I am just happier when I am tan. I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and went through a year of treatment and I had radiation. I have been warned to never tan without a 80 spf sunscreen. I used to love going to the tanning bed a couple of times a week and it relaxed me and gave me the right amount of tan. I have tried several self tanning lotions and was doing "ok" with Jergens. But...I still had that smell and that sticky feeling. I love the smell of this "Water" and I don't even use a mitt, I just wash my hands and I get the perfect, smell good, non sticky tan that I am used to having. Thank you so much for this product. Love it!
I used to be super pale
Eleanor Shellstrop from Ohio
I have blonde hair, blue eyes, and very fair skin. (I wear NC15 from Mac for reference.) My legs and torso are particularly pale. I sprayed one limb at a time and smoothed with a mitt. I did left leg, right leg, stomach, left arm, right arm, chest, back/neck, feet (very lightly) and hands (very lightly) and it turned out great and natural! My one mistake was that my right arm brushed up against the back of my neck or shoulder as I was smoothing it on my back so some product got on my arm that I didn't smooth in, so the next morning there was a splotch of color there. Next time I will do my arms last or make sure I re-smooth it. Either way, it's not extremely noticeable because of how natural this tan is. I went back and forth on what shade to get but I'm glad I went with light/medium since I was going for the natural look. I also didn't do my face but you can't see any line or anything between my neck and face. Very happy I finally splurged on this!
If you're into the Oompa Loompa look this is for you
Bre from Syracuse,NY
I was a little disappointed because I was talked into this saying it won't turn me orange and it will look natural. It was a pretty pricey product. I looked literally orange the first 2 days. However if you can get over that it's a nice natural tan. Won't go super dark but a more natural tan. However, it smells like burnt skin like that smell you have after a sunburn mixed with a little aloe haha. Fades evenly! Might not have just not worked for my skin.
What a breakthrough
Mia from Waldwick, NJ
I have tried tons of self tanners from banana boat to St. Tropez. I am in love with this stuff. The smell is bareable and I just cannot get over the easiest application in the world. (It won't make you instantly than, that's the sticky, smelly stuff) but it gives just the right amount of glow. I'm a graduate student and just learned that my summer will be non-existent as will my typical summer tan, so this will be my go-to from now on! Will buy again. I recommend the medium/dark formula.
