I was noticing that my hair has some mild thinning and lots of breakage after probably 3-4 total years of using very natural shampoos, and I mistakenly thought it was the natural shampoos doing it. I had used another brand prior to coming to Acure, but I'd most recently been using a combo of this Acure shampoo and another natural brand's shampoo mainly for about the last 1.5 years. So, silly me, I decided to go on a wild goose chase in search of something "better" for my hair. Can I just tell you, that my journey took me through FOUR other huge salon-sold brand names (we're talking legit $30 a bottle stuff). I had a scalp reaction to one, encountered two that stunk of fake chemical perfume to high heaven, dealt with one that left nasty chunky greasy-looking clumps, fought with one that made my hair impossible to dry, got mad at two that left my second-day hair just utterly disgusting and greasy, and I said THAT. IS. IT. I'm done with this. I'm headed right back to Acure! Thankfully my Acure was still right there in the shower caddy waiting longingly for me! Immediately after switching back to this Volume shampoo, I'm happy with how my hair is freshly dried out of the shower and how it looks all day. It definitely makes my scalp happy, because my second-day hair is and has been the best it's ever been in my life when I'm using Acure. I do think this product adds some volume and life to my hair, definitely way more so than the aforementioned overpriced $30-a-bottle salon junk. I'm frustrated with myself that I allowed myself to waste time and effort (and have some real bad hair days) in this foolish quest to find something else, but I did come out the other side knowing that Acure is 100% amazing. I can't believe how poorly those other brands compared! I also decided that A) I would like to venture into some of the other Acure shampoos/conditioners to see how my hair reacts (and maybe another might fit my hair even better!), and B) I think my breakage has resulted from the fact that I admittedly almost never condition my hair (gasp). I know, I know. Terrible. So out of this, I've resolved to take better care by conditioning at least every other wash. The new formula leaves my scalp feeling dirty and you need way more product than you used to need to clean your hair appropriately. The shampoo also comes in a smaller bottle than it used to.
