When I was a child, I suffered from a rare skin condition. Life wasn't easy with skin that would blister, peel, and flake when exposed to the sun. I was made fun of a lot throughout school. What was worse than the torment from my peers, however, was simply not knowing what was wrong. That was until my late teens, I finally saw a specialist that was able to diagnose my skin problems. I had been the victim of what some dermatologists call a "sunburn".
From that day on, I dedicated my life to raising awareness of this rare and degenerative disease. My sunburns were bad. I was wheelchair bound for a while (not because of the sunburn, it was just really hard to walk with the burden of knowing that I was so sick), and I had to get one of those handicap stickers for my license plate. I often times skipped lines at the movie theaters and got discounts on products that were generally reserved for military families. Whenever I would cut in line or get extensions on homework assignments, I would usually cry while my friends shouted "how DARE you, he has a sunburn! You should be ASHAMED of yourself." And that usually set em straight once people realized how serious my condition was. To raise awareness for this serious disease, I would post on facebook at least once a week with things like "life has never been the same since I got a sunburn" and "people like me really have it tough".
That is, until, I discovered Mineral Vanilla Coconut Continuous Spray SPF 50, by Bare Republic™. When I first sprayed this on my skin I felt the euphoric release of ecstasy as the sun was immediately reflected from it. It left my skin feeling gloriously incandescent. I was radiant, and for the first time in my life, something was on my skin that was whiter than the way I was born. Since I started using this product, I have not received a single sunburn and my skin shines brighter than UV radiation. Also smells amazing. My only regret in life is not being able to give this product a sixth star.
I was really disappointed in this product. Most mineral sunscreens you can buy in-store are on the pricier end, for the face, and don't come in larger sizes. Seeing this product on the shelf was amazing. I was in the market trying to find a mineral sunscreen that was affordable, came in standard body size, and was in an aerosol can.
This was definitely a bust. It's not an aerosol spray, it's a droplet spray (think bug spray droplets but with a much thicker liquid). It didn't spread well. It stuck to my skin very quickly which made it difficult to spread around. I needed what I think is a lot more than necessary to cover my arms and legs. It also has a very serious white cast. I am pretty fair and it was noticeable on me. When looking at my arms and legs I could see the lines from my fingers where I tried rubbing it in. It also is very greasy. I ended up showering very early in the day to remove it and even after washing my body I didn't feel clean. Very disappointed.

This sunscreen leaves my skin extremely dry. I even tried mixing it with body lotion. The white cast disappeared a little bit. I would never buy this again.

Nothing about this product was good. I normally really like bare republic & the price is great. But when I sprayed this, the nozzle shot in 2 different directions. The sunscreen itself was so thick & dried so quickly I couldn't even spread it around. I had white/purple streaks everywhere. And then the nozzle got clogged every single time it sprayed. I'm a light-medium olive toned girl so I can only imagine the cast this would have on dark & deep complexions. Flop.

Having a spray is great, but not when you have to rub it in for 10 minutes! It leaves a horrible white film also. It ruined a shirt, I would stick to S-U-N-B-U-M!!

I love the light feel of the product, love the smell and works very well on my daughter's skin. The only complaint is, I did not like how it came out for application. I only used this product one time in the spring this year and went to use it yesterday at the beach and unfortunately the nozzle was clogged and I should have rinsed it, instead of just wiping the hole and now I can seem to get any of the sunscreen out. Such a waste because it was pretty expensive for sunscreen. I just don't like how it clumped up around the hole of the button and am now kicking myself in the butt for not rinsing it and I have used many spray sunscreens over the years and never had an issue before

Makes me skin feel great, very moisturizing. A little goes a long way, you have to rub it in well. Does settle into elbow creases but you can just rub back in. It's a great value.

I liked it fine as the sunscreen. At first it squirted some. It leaves white residue and you have to rub it. I didn't mind that because it's mineral sunscreen and has safer ingredients fir your skin. It's not a spray. I didn't mind that. But after few uses it stopped spraying and started dripping. It quit even that after two days. And the bottle feels full! Total waste of my money

It leaves a white shade and creates mess everywhere you touched. It never stay on you and I got really red sun burns even I didn't have any sun bath and didn't stay under sun for 2 hours, btw I applied it two times in a day. Don't recommend this product.

We love how evenly this goes on, and how easily it rubs in. The smell is amazing also

Works well. Can come out a little too white, but getting the right amount of application is perfect.

As a person of color, this has the worst white cast ever! It applies looking like white spray paint and I spent a good amount of time rubbing it in, but the best I could get was looking grey. Do not recommend for darker skin tones!

This is a white gloopy mess. It doesn't have an even spray, it doesn't blend into the skin, and comes off the skin instantly when touched. I applied, washed my hands, and a few minutes later grabbed my arm - a hand print was left on my arm where the sunscreen had lifted off my arm and stuck to my hand! It doesn't matter that the smell is nice or that it's reef safe. This product doesn't do what it advertises! DO NOT BUY!

Applied at 1pm and 3pm. I've never had a worse burn.
Ash from Rogers, AR
It doesn't blend in. Leaves sticky thick white residue all over skin. Leaves white residue on swim suit. I still burnt. I will not ever buy again. The SPF30 isn't as thick.

I love the smell, how it feels on my skin and that this product is reef friendly And clean for my skin.. This product was recommended to me by my aesthetician.
To be honest, the spray is no different than the lotion. The spray advertises that it's transparent and sheer but it's not at sheer at all, you still gotta rub the product in as it leaves a thick white cast on your skin. I would still buy this one over the lotion as It's the same price as the lotion yet you get an ounce more and this one smells like Vanilla/coconut.

This sunscreen worked but it's definitely not something you would apply if your at a fair or park. You would look like a white powdered snow man lol

Very light and not greasy!! I think my only concern is the fragrance- I would love to see a line of no fragrance products from Bare Republic, but overall excellent product!

I wanted to find a spray mineral sunscreen but this is not it. I have tried it twice and both times within 30 minutes I developed severe whole body itching where it was applied. It was so bad the 2nd time I had to shower to get the itch under control. It is a thick sticky white mess when you spray it on and leaves your skin looking and feeling terrible. Don't waste your money!
Anabonita from Colorado
Don't waste your money! I'm light to medium skin and it left me looking like ashy. It dried instantly and wasn't able to spread it, leaving me with white cast all over my skin. Hours later the white cast on my skin and still felt goopy.
Alex from Georgia
Bought the giant bottle of this for a beach vacation. I used it 2x before the spray nozzle stoped working. & when I did use it, it left white residue all over me. It didn't blend into the skin. Not a cute look.
Justme from Georgia
It's so thick, but almost immediately dry when you apply it, so you get these super thick layers and then it's hard to spread the sunscreen elsewhere. I look like a streaky, gross mess anytime I use this and have to scrub extra hard to get it off. It's effective in blocking the sun because I wouldn't be caught dead outside of my house with this stuff on. It's gross. Don't buy it.

If your Kiddo is like mine, you would think you were rubbing hot lava on them when its time for sunscreen - you know...squirm, try to run away and complain about the smell, the feel and not wanting to waste one minute....but not with this one. Sprays well ( and fast), he LIKES the smell and it really dries feeling dry - not like I "oiled" him down. So best sunscreen is the one they will wear! Thanks

I was looking forward to using this sunscreen especially since it's free of those chemicals that others use. On the front of the can it says it's sheer and in the explanation on the back of what it is, it says it's the most transparent one they've made. It goes on the day on the directions that because it's a mineral formula it'll be white at first. THE WHITE DOESN'T GO AWAY!! OMG I was looking "casket ready" especially since I'm Black. Like dang do y'all know what transparent and sheer mean??!! I can't even.
kcaps from MI
I was ok with the sunscreen leaving a white cast, but not with it getting all over everything my skin brushed up against. there's still a white handprint on the car where I opened the door. we had to really scrub to get it off the seats. on the upside, I didn't get burned, so.

okay, I have been on a non-stop search for a high spf mineral sunscreen spray that wasn't too costly and didn't smell like the beach. I saw this at Ulta and I suppose luckily for me some had peeled the plastic off so I could smell it. to my surprise the scent was quite pleasant. when it came time to check out, I realized it was ninety percent off, only costing me a dollar and change. thrilled, I grabbed the only other bottle, checked out and headed home to try out. this is a mineral sunscreen, it's white, that doesn't bother me as I'm very fair and give myself time to let it sink in. BUT it is soooo easy to spray to much and ya better rub it in and move it around fast, which is yes, hella annoying. one more BUT and the reason why I am crushed and the reason I don't think I'll ever even try this brand again...IT IS SO STICKY, LIKE RUBBING A GLUE STICK ALL OVER YOUR BODY STICKY. honestly I could probably stick a quarter to my sprayed arms and it would stay there all day. as a fair skinned lady I have TRIED MANY sunscreens and have never felt like I was covered in hair spray. it's not usable. so disappointed ☹️.
