I love this tonic. I mean, if I could marry it, I totally would. I have weird skin. It dries out after cleansing, no matter what kind of face wash I use. My skin even dries out from just getting it wet. So, I've never gotten along with a tonic before - they always seem to exacerbate the problem. The obnoxious thing, then, is that half way through the day, my skin becomes really oily - no matter how much or how little moisturizer I put on. But knowing Origins products, and after reading the description and reviews of this product, I decided to give it a try.
SO glad I did! This is now my FAVORITE Origins product. No joke. So, I wash my face, it starts to do its transformation into the Sahara, but then I sweep this stuff on (it smells fabulous!). Instantly, the tightness is gone. My skin is relaxed, soft, smooth, ready to absorb my serum and lotion. I never write reviews. I mean never (look how long this thing is already). But this stuff is so great, I decided Origins definitely needed kudos for it. Also, I'm hoping others with dry/combination skin weirdness will try it. You'll be glad you did.
This tonic seems primarily designed for users who need an additional cleansing step in their daily skin routine. Unlike most of Origins' other tonics and liquid lotions (Zero Oil perhaps excepted), this one claims to remove dead skin and dirt as well as balance and condition the skin before moisturizing. And you can tell. The "tingling" that the product description notes can be abrasively stinging after any kind of exfoliation or cleansing with a scrub brush. And if like me-someone with naturally oily skin-your routine ALREADY consists of oil-reducing products and steps, the United States tonic can overly dry out skin, causing it to over-produce oil to compensate. That said, for folks with less elaborate skincare routines (i.e., those that don't already include a step to remove dead skin) or more truly combination skin, this is a solid choice. For those looking for a conditioning lotion, I'd keep looking.
It's also worth noting that this tonic has a strange and (to me) slightly unpleasant smell. Several other reviewers have described it as smelling like rubbing alcohol. It is pungent, though it only lasts as long as it takes to apply.

I have dry combination skin and this is by far the best toner I have used. I have used this for years and it never disappoints. Worth the money

I received a free small size with my last order, and I'm so glad I did! I love it! I have combination skin, with an oily t-zone, and this really helps even out my skin. Plus, it feels so refreshing on my face. It's exactly what I needed for my skin to feel a little brighter and healthy.

I ordered this online for the first time. It this toner supposed to come with a seal? I received mine, no seal and a very little leaking out. Other items in the similar bottles come with a lid with a small hole that makes it easier to control. This one did not and I am not sure if it's worth returning or I should just deal with it. I will appreciate a feedback. Thank you.

First, good price for the amount. Bought it due ti specialist recommendation. Tolerable scent. Didn't dry out my skin or give me problem. I just don't like the cap. It doesn't have a good handling/grip. It's too spherical. It always slip off my hand capping.

I didn't realize when I ordered this that it has alcohol in it. I have normal skin but aging. I like a toner that makes me skin feel refreshed, not dried out. I used this a couple of times and it just isn't going to work for me. It's unfortunate that I can't return to a store because of the stay at home order right now. I would order something else but my 30% off is no longer available and being out of work right now, I will have to go without. I can say I am enjoying the other products I ordered and being that I just switched to this product, I think I will be staying.

I have combination acne prone skin and was looking for a new toner. I did a lot of research and decided on this one, based on the claims and all the positive reviews. I've been using it for about a month and it hasn't really done anything for me, except my acne is worse. The alcohol in it is also a little irritating and I wonder if that is contributing to it. I really want to finish the bottle because it was a little pricey for the size, but unfortunately I'm not sure if I can :(. I may just go back to my cheap witch hazel toner.

I've been using this for 4 years now. I don't think Origins markets this product as helping with breakouts,* but it certainly helps mine! Every time my skin starts acting up, I've noticed it's when I haven't reached for this in awhile or I'm out—as soon as I add it back to my routine my skin is so clear.
It also has not scent that I notice and isn't tingling or anything like that, but it definitely needs to be followed with moisturizer.
*I have combination skin & get random breakouts here and there (so not acne, though it may help with that too).

Reading the description, I thought this product would be perfect for my combination skin. After using it for a few weeks, I noticed that my oily patches looked good, but my dry patches were even drier! I had flaky, dry skin that I've never had before. This might work in the summer, but I'm too wary to try it again.

I love this product because after using it everyday I can see and feel a difference in my skins texture. I used to have dry flakes and clogged pores but when I added this to my routine that all went away! My skin feels super clean and smooth now.

I use this toner daily and also after I rinse off my facemask. It is very refreshing and helps keep my combination skin calm

To start, the only reason I'm giving this 4 stars and not five is the fact that it contains alcohol and I'd prefer to stay away from that. Not that it is a total deal breaker, I'll try something else when I run out - and I plan to run out - and see what I like better.
I use it daily to "rebalance and refine" and as an aftershave when I shave. It definitely helps reduce breakouts after shaving.

I have mostly oily skin, but not in all areas. I needed a product that would help control my entire face. This product is it! I've been using Origins for so time and recently switched to this toner. The best ever!

This tonic is by far the best tonic I've ever tried - and I've tried tonics and astringents from multiple skin care brands. This makes my skin feel so even and smooth and refreshed. I would definitely recommend. I have sensitive skin but have experienced no issues with this product. I just wish it were less expensive because I go through it very quickly whenever I buy it!

I am so glad I found this toner, thanks to my friend who recommended it. It literally helps with my breakout since I started it. It cleanses really well and it smells heavenly. Every time I applies it, It really preps my skin for my essence, vitamin C and E and moisturizer every night. I applies it day and night. This has no compare to other toners I have used in the past and have tried many! I am truly obsessed with this!

Was hoping this would help my congested pores for my problematic skin that gets oily throughout the day but can be dry sometimes. Used entire product and did not see a difference. Too expensive to not work how I thought it would/ needed and went through the entire thing in about 4 weeks.

I was turned off of toners for so long because they ALL were drying and irritating, despite the skin care world insisting that they were essential. Finally, I found something that helps my combination skin not be oily (in the teeny spots where it is)/not be flaky (in the areas where that's an issue), refines pores, fights black-heads/breakouts, and actually smells pleasant! And it doesn't irritate my sensitive skin at all! I'm also glad it's available in this larger bottle size than many other products, as this is a twice-a-day necessity for me now.

I have combo/oily skin. In the winter I can get dry around my nose & mouth...but otherwise, I'm oily with the occasional breakout (mostly hormone related...am I right ladies?). I've been using a witch hazel toner for the past few years, wanting to stay away from alcohol in my face products. Sure it didn't make my face more oily, but it also didn't help prevent oil/acne. I've also been noticing little red bumps on my forehead for the past few months...I've tried switching my cleansers (I tried switching from my Origins A Perfect World Cleanser to CeraVe) & trying different witch hazel toners...AND I even tried "natural" anti-acne serums with tea tree. Nothing seemed to work with the oil & red bumps. I used a sample of this balancing toner from Origins & OH MY YES! This evaporated my oils, BUT also did not dry out my skin. AND, the part I'm most excited about...those little red bumps are GONE! The only downside is that it does contain alcohol, but as long as you use a good moisturizer after, your skin should be just fine! I've been obsessed with Origins for years & every time I try to use something a little more affordable, my skin freaks out. I guess I should learn my lesson & stick with what works, even if it costs a little more! I highly recommend at least giving this a try if you have a similar skin type!

I cannot say enough good things about this product. I have struggled with combo oily skin my whole life, and tried just about everything to help it from powders and foundations to toners and masks and anything in between. I bought a trial kit of items from Origins and this item was included, and I am never using anything else. Within a week, I noticed a huge difference in my overall skin, and within two weeks, I had totally new skin. Normal with little to no oil. It has a great smell and it's also gentle on my skin. It's AMAZING. If you're looking for a solution to your oily skin, this is it. Please give it a try- you'll LOVE IT!

LOVE LOVE LOVE. By far THE best toner I have ever used. I have combination skin that gets more oily in summer but also dry patches especially in the winter months. My skin is very sensitive and breakout prone as well. When I use this product it mattifies the oily parts and almost like magic it sweeps away the dry patches on my face (which even with exfoliation are still there after cleansing sadly). If you have sensitive skin it may make you slightly red like me but it doesn't "irritate" my skin by any means. I have noticed a significant decrease in any new breakouts since using this and it makes my makeup go on soooooo smooth after using this and following with a moisturizer. The name is perfect for this because it truly does balance your skin no matter how difficult! Please never discontinue this product!

I've been using this for years and it is the absolute best product. Works on dry and oily spots without drying out your skin. Love it!

I have sensitive skin and had recently been dealing with breakouts. After trying what seemed to be everything I was really hoping Origins would work. I went with the suggested regime and unfortunately this along with the Checks & Balances Wash and a Perfect World Moisturizer made my skin break out with tiny bumps. I continued use for a few days, tried using it only once a day, etc. and nothing worked. The scents are powerful (not a fan), the wash dried me out, tonic burned my skin / made it red and the moisturizer felt greasy / on top of my skin vs absorbing into my skin. I am returning the product and will continue my search for the perfect skin regime.

This stuff is incredible! I've never had a toner actually work until now. This has made my skin tone appear much more even and less red, and my pores look smaller. Can't live without this now!

This actually worked to clean and refresh my skin without over-drying it. My pores looked better and my skin tone more even. It has a very gentle exfoliating effect which I love.

I have sensitive, combination skin, prone to pimple breakouts when I use products with fragrances. Recently, I've had bad breakouts across my T-zone from using another brand's moisturizer. My pores were enlarged, T-zone red, and breakout out-of-control. I'd heard good things about Origins (their use of "clean" ingredients) and decided to splurge on United State. I am so glad I did; this tonic does what your drugstore brand tonic with rosewater does not. The tonic restored the right pH levels to my face overnight: no itchy redness, pores almost invisible, and breakout in remission.
The tonic smells lightly of sage and leaves your face feeling refreshed. It somehow both dries your face (or gives it more elasticity) and leaves the skin feeling moisturized. 5/5 stars. Thank you, Origins!

I used their face tonics in the 90's but the formula they sell now is not as refreshing or special.
