Most Helpful Positive Review I LOVE IT!! I've used Unicorn Hair to dye my hair four times now. (See pics!) I have loved the result every single time!! Moonchild, Bunny & Strawberry Jam have been my colors of choice. My sister has also used the color Pony multiple times too & has always had an amazing result! She's done full head as well as highlights with it. I've done my 12 year old nieces hair twice with Chocolate Cherry, she's a natural brunette (Italian & Colombian) & her results are stellar too. The naturally lighter pieces near the bottom tips of her hair take on the color vibrantly & the rest or her hair has a hue to it that is particularly vibrant when she's in the sunshine. I could go on.. My 8 year old niece (natural light blonde) just had the tips of her hair done with Strawberry Jam/Pony & she is obsessed with it.
I have naturally dark blonde hair that I have highlighted. My hair is not bleached but it is lightened. You can see the starting point in the pictures for reference. I think it's important to point out that all hair pulls/deposits color differently and it's always a good idea to do a strand test. If you naturally have more warm tones the color will look different that someone with more ash in their hair. When I'm putting lighter colors onto my hair I leave them in for hours and when I am doing a really bright bold color, I tend to live it in for about an hour. Unless your hair is bleached snow white, you will not end up with any cotton candy hued colors. Keep that in mind. If you lighten your hair to an ashy silvery/blonde-you will not get pale baby pink. When I use bunny I get a gorgeous rose gold color. You must be starting with hair that is nearly pure white to get those super pastel colors. If your hair is dark-no matter how much dye you put on it pale pink won't show up. The vibrant, dark, bold colors will cover your brown with a gorgeous hue of color & are a great choice.
Color fades beautifully too! I'm a happy Unicorn Hair lover! Thanks Lime Crime & ULTA!!!
Most Helpful Critical Review Very Mixed Review Of the 27 colors, I used 18 of them. I listed below the ones I used, with their individual ratings. I dyed my hair on November 6 and I am writing this review on November 29th. I have washed my hair 3 times in that time period of 23 days. Also note that I let this dye sit on my hair for 3HOURS before rinsing it out.
5 Stars: Almost as good as the first dye
Leeloo - of the colors this has stayed the brightest and truest to when it was first dyed
Chocolate Cherry - Still very vibrant
Tweet - I am very surprised that this has stayed vibrant
4 Stars: Faded, but still strong
Anime - Still very bright, but seems duller
Blue Smke - Very true to its original color, but has faded
Valentine - Not as bright red as original, but still bright, looks a lot like the Chocolate Cherry when it fades
3 Stars: Bad Fade out
Strawberry Jam - Very light now, hard to make it out
Jello - Very pale, looks like mint faded
Dirty Mermaid - pale and hard to differentiate
Pony - Very pale and superpatchy fade out
2 Stars: Good at first, then faded out of existence
Kawaii - faded to a pale pink very quickly
Neon Peach - I loved this color out of the packet and after the rinse, but I have no idea where it is now
Bubblegum Rose - This faded to the color of what Bunny should have been, then disappeared after the second wash
Salad - faded much like Jello, just much faster
1 Star: What happened?
Bunny - Very patchy application and after first wash was completely gone
Mint Ice - Same as with Bunny, looked decent when applied, but after rinse it was barely noticeable and after first wash it was gone
NO Stars: Where is the pigment?
Cloud - When I put this on my hair, I did a wth moment. I could see the color in the dye, but when I put it on my hair, it's like it literally disappeared as I was rubbing it in. There was no color payout at all.
Moonchild - This was exactly the same as Cloud, only there was a very slight color tint

I have platinum hair (aside from some root growth) and the bubble gum pink is VERY pink. However, it applies rather streaky, which gives it cool highlights.

besides making my hair smell really good, this really didn't do anything to my hair. I have a dirty blonde tint to my hair, and thought my entire head would change, nope, just the blonder parts turned orange. not worth the money, just go get real hair dye instead of semi permanent.

pretty color, doesn't fade easily but was darker than i anticipated
I'm not allergic! 5

I'm allergic to so many permanent hair dyes! I can use this without worry! I mix it with conditioner and let it sit for roughly 30 mins before rinsing it out and my hair looks great! I use Sea Witch and Charcoal as I can't use permanent black hair dye. The Sea Witch tint stays in my dark hair for a while but can only be seen in sunlight. It gives more dimension to my hair. I use it maybe every other week so it is a lot of up-keep but until I find a permanent hair dye I can actually use- this is my go-to hair color!
Great for full coverage Chocolate Cherry color 4

A month after applying the color is still very vibrant. Shampoo bubbles are still very pink but it's finally stopped staining the shower & towels.
Bad reviews due to user error 5

I don't understand these bad reviews. No matter what color you use, you should know that if you don't have platinum hair, your results are going to vary a bit. The number of people saying they used blue on top of their bleached hair and got green is ridiculous. If your hair is bleached to a yellow-blonde, then what do you expect? Yellow + blue = green. Undertones matter! This is going on top of your hair color, so expect your starting color to show through a bit, especially if you're using a light color. Additionally, for those saying they did not have the color show up much: did you bleach first? It doesn't matter if your natural hair color is light; virgin hair is often not very porous. This color is a direct dye, which means it does not process your hair. It simply deposits the color on top. Bleached hair is more porous and therefore absorbs color much better. If you have natural light brown hair, you're likely not going to have much color show up, because your hair already contains brown pigments, and it is not porous. On the other hand, if you have dark brown hair and bleach it to a light brown shade, you'll have results more like what you're probably expecting. I've also seen photos on here where people show their hair while coloring it and then show their results where their color hasn't changed much. You need to saturate your hair with the color! If you hardly put any dye on, the color is not really going to soak in. You want to soak your hair with the color. When in doubt, use more than you think. And patchy results are due to patchy application. Comb the color through after. Make sure you apply it to all the hair. If you do large chunks, you might miss pieces of hair in the middle. And don't be afraid to leave this color on longer! It doesn't damage your hair; if anything it helps it, since it is a lot like a conditioner (albeit an extremely highly pigmented one). You'll get better results if you leave the color on longer since it has more time to soak in.
Great for people who already have red hair! 5

This semi permanent dye is great for those who already have red hair! I get my hair done at a salon every 4 months and I love this product to help keep it red. It lasts a nice red for 2-3 weeks! I basically follow the instructions, and leave it on for about 2 hours then rinse out and condition. This product is inexpensive but yields great results! I wouldn't recommend for someone who doesn't plan on keeping your hair red because red is a hard color to wash out completely. About half a jar is enough for my long hair.
Favorite coloring product! 4
Kaite from Illinois
I like this product a lot! It smells so good and the color is really, really nice. It is easy to apply, even though it can and will permanently stain clothes and furniture, so be careful (: The only negative thing I have to say about it is the fade is a little unpredictable. The color fades beautifully and will guaranteed fade completely but the time it takes to do so is unpredictable. I used the Bubblegum Rose shade and it was faded in a week, but I used the Valentines shade which took a month or two to start fading. It depends a lot on the amount of product you use and how much time you keep it on. Lots of variables (: Overall very good!!

honestly, i expected only a tint of color. i used to have my hair platinum & used manic panic colors gor years. loved that i could switch it up easily. when covid hit, i couldn't go to sal8n, so i stopped bleaching (i will not do it myself). my natural color is strawberry blonde-ish. omg was i excited when i rinsed the mauve out, that i had beautiful saturation!!! i was stunned & sooo happy. with manic panic, the color wouldn't ever saturate my natural color. i would've given 5 stars if it didn't wash out so fast. EVERYONE including my boss keeps telling me to do that color again. i will def buy again!
Super happy with the product. 5

Bleached dk brown hair 2x that had easily 5 layers of color. Put pony on too, anime on bottom. Slept in it with my head wrapped in saran wrap. Created a hard crust while asleep. My hair follicles had soaked up so much color it rinsed milk clear. Ended up coloring it one more time, same colors. Excellent coverage, depth, hues, shiny. And weirdly enough - my scalp stayed clean. However it will stain anything it touches.
I could use this product over and over! 5

I got this to transform from green to pink and purple. I used pony and chocolate cherry and I'm not disappointed at all. It looks amazing and took to my hair so well!

Ok so I put the hair dye on and I think it's an ok blue. I let it sit for 2 hours. Wash it out. Green. Very green. I'm glad I only did the underside of my hair. My mom is color blind and even she could tell that it did not come out anime blue.. Now I'm just waiting to see how long it's going to take to wash out. Just go ahead and commit with Arctic Fox.
Love their color 4

I love the Sea Witch and Chocolate Cherry colors. The sea witch is a pretty teal and the chocolate Cherry is a pink that actually sticks around. I did not have good luck with their Pony color. It faded the fastest and I ended up back at artic fox for purple.

I've been using the Valentine shade, and it's amazing and vibrant on my brown hair! The whole jar recommends that it is all used up on a short bob, but my hair is much longer and I have half of the dye left, with so much color!
I would for sure use this again 5

Used this product on blonde hair and it worked after one use
Not even close to the color 2

I bought this for my daughter in Anime blue. She has dirty blond hair so I thought it would be more of a darker blue (like on the bottle for light brown hair) but it came out green. Its like sea foam green not blue.
Hit or miss 1

If you would have asked me to rate this product a week ago I would've given it 4 stars. I have used the shade "sea witch" for about two years and it works great! It gives my dark hair a beautiful Forrest green tint that I love. I felt like I needed a change so I decided to try "mystic." After applying it and letting it sit for an hour there was zero difference in the color of my hair. Not a hint of blue in sight. Not worth it.
Love the coverage but... 3

This color left my entire shower stained magenta pink. I didn't think much of it as it was to remove the color from my hair after the initial application.
We stayed in a hotel the next night & it did the same thing there! We had to go buy special cleaner & scrub down the shower & shower curtain so we didn't get charged with damaging to the shower at a Las Vegas hotel on the strip! I also went to the thrift store & bought 2 pillowcases to prevent staining the pillows with my hair.
I will probably return to my previous choice for coloring my hair pink. I only tried this product because my usual brand was out of stock.
I'm willing to try it again 3

I'm not a stranger to dyeing my hair funky colors. I've been doing it for almost 2 years now, but I wanted to give this brand a go when I saw it. Applied to bleached hair, left on for 2 hours, and was fine with the result. It's not the color that's shown on the box, but it's still pretty. It's also very forgiving on your skin. Using soap cleaned it right off. Here's what blew me away: this color STAYS. I wasn't feeling well and the last thing I wanted to do was take a cold shower, so I just washed my hair with hot water and regular shampoo. For three days. And this color didn't budge. It looks the same as when I first applied it which is beyond impressive. Downside is that it bleeds like crazy. By the end of the day the back of my neck is pink, my ears are pink, everything it touches is pink. Give and take I guess.

it's such a pretty color and it didn't fade after a couple washes i'd say get it if you think you're willing to commit for a little while, if u want to change colors after i'd say let your hair fade as much as possible before using a color corrector i only had a couple pieces where the dye didn't want to come but over all wasn't too bad to remove
Initially looks good 2

Shook on my light brown hair looked awesome. A cool tone pink tint. Immediately rinsed out in first wash.
Probably wouldn't buy again 1

I expected that the product would tint my lighter ends and maybe tint my dark roots, but instead it didn't color it at all. I used a lavender tone expected some hint of purple, instead it just removed some of the coppery tones. Probably just best for hair that is true blonde
