Most Helpful Positive Review The only line of products that I trust with my curls
I've been using DevaCurl for a few years now and I don't think I'll ever try anything else. I get so many compliments on my hair and am constantly recommending this line to others when they ask about my hair routine. The Ultra Defibing Gel holds all day without making my hair stiff or crunchy. I also use the No Poo and One Condition. The products leave my hair looking and smelling fantastic!
Most Helpful Critical Review Definitely not for me...
Not for super curly hair. This product gave me no hold at all and left my hair frizzier than what I usually use. I knew that this was going to be a no go once I felt the constancy - which was like a watery jelly. I've seen plenty of youtubers rave about this line and this gel, so I don't doubt that it works. But for those of us with corkscrew curls, this is not the one.

After realizing how much hair I was losing, it was too late and the damage was done. Please look it up. Devacurl has RUINED my hair to unrepairable state. It is not growing back and my curls are completely gone. I have a frizzy, wavy mess on my head with half the hair I used to have. Save yourself heart break and money.
Gave me back acne!
Gp3 from Washington
This gave me terrible upper back acne. I've always had clear skin, and after using this line of products, it immediately clogged my pores. I took a break and switched back to my old products and things cleared up. Then, this pandemic hit and I ran out of my favorite product. Had to go back to this and within a week my back is a mess again. I am a very clean person, and I can now say, if you have sensitive skin you may want to skip this line. I have breakage, weakened hair, and back zits. No thank you. I'm throwing the rest of this away and going back to Kenra's Curl cream.
Feels so good!!!

This is no crunch and I use it before I diffuse my hair, I love it!
I like it
Naturalb8 from Sacramento
This product leaves my curls bouncy and defined. the only thing I noticed is that if I dont prep my hair with some type of serum or oil. wow it will leave your curls crunchy and dry. it is the only gel that defines my curls the way I like.
Caused hair loss and dryness
Lauren from Fredericksburg
I've been using this gel since I was a sophomore in high school in 2013. I always loved it and it made my curls look nice. Since late 2018 to early 2019 my curls didn't look their best. My hair was starting to become dry and frizzy more than usual. Then the summer of 2019 comes around and my hair starting falling out in huge clumps throughout the day. I thought it was my diet at first since I was vegan at the time so I went back to animal products. Yet the hair loss continued, and I'm talking about huge clumps of hair falling out each time I ran my hands through my hair or washing/combing while taking a shower. I was stressing out and scared. During my fall semester of 2019 I couldn't wear my hair down because it looked so bad so I had to wear it up in a bun everyday. I decided that I had enough in December and started to blow dry my hair and curl it instead. I stopped using DevaCurl and that's when my hair stopped falling out. I put two and two together and FINALLY realized it was DevaCurl that was causing my hair loss and dryness. It is now May of 2020 and my hair has never looked better since I stopped using this product. So buyer beware.. DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT AND STOP USING THIS BRAND UNTIL THEY GET THEIR PRODUCTS BACK TO THE ORIGINAL FORMULA!! It is not worth the damaged hair. If you want to read move about everyone else's problems then I suggest to look it up online.

Best hair curling product! 👏🏼
Hair loss and breakage!!!
Yaya M from Arizona
At first I didn't believe what I was hearing about this product causing hair loss, thinning, and breakage. But it's true. I notified first my hair getting very thin and freeze around the sides near my temples. Then I had a lot of hair loss. I stopped using the product to see if it would make a difference. It did. After I stopped using a saw a lot of baby hairs growing around the areas that had thinning and loss. I even have short pieces of hair that are growing but for now stick up on the top of my head. Don't use this product it's not worth it!
DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HAIR!!!!
Layla from US
I used to have long beautiful curly hair, not a day went by that someone didn't compliment it. I used this product for a month in January and I lost all my curls, my hair is now barely wavy. I tried to repair the damage but it is not working, it is now May and I am going to do a big chop and cut all my hair off to try to regrow it and get rid of the damaged hair.
Not the Holy Grail you think
Mel from Sacramento, Ca
I used this product for years. My curls looked phenomenal. Around September/October I noticed tremendous amounts of hair loss. I attributed it to stress. Then I started getting greys, I just plucked them out. I continued to use Deva curl until I learned this has happened to so many other people because of the products. I've stopped using Deva curl completely and taking hair vitamins. I've noticed improvement and I'm slowly getting my hair back to the thickness it once was.
Great definition and hold
Abby from San Franscico,CA
This gel has great definition and hold but my hair always feels super dry after I wash it out a few days later! Upside being that I can go 2-3 days without washing my hair and just spritz with water in a spray bottle to freshen my curls each morning.
Simply the best
Liz H from NJ
Using this for years, through minor formula changes. it's still the best. the only gel that makes my curls POP with no dryness. Dont believe the hysteria this is amazing.

Heed my warning from United states
I'm going to say this the best way that I know how ...my hair is naturally curly and I used this product for about a year starting a year or more ago; and it made my hair feel and look amazing !!! after the company sold and went to I guess someone who's using cheaper/different products my hair began to fall out,my curls begin to straighten , and my scalp developed an itchy irritation causing hair loss! the new revamp of this product will trash your naturally curly hair !heed my warning do not use this product!

do not use, promotes hair loss
this product is amazing for curly hair!
Connie from napa
I use it after washing my hair. Just rub some between my hands and scrunch through my chin length hair. Blot and scrunch with a t-shirt and dry with a diffuser. Recently went curly -- and I love it.
Had to stop using this product! So disappointed . . .
Billie from OBX, NC
I have used Deva Curl off and on for many years but made this my "go to" product for styling my curls for the past year and half. For the first 3 months or so y curls looked fantastic. Then I began to notice a definite loss in curl pattern. My hair became straggly and limp. I purchased the build-up buster thinking maybe I had a build up on my hair. Didn't work. I tried the melt into moisture product in hopes that maybe my hair wasn't conditioned enough. Didn't work. I finally stopped using the deva curl and tried curl smith along with some other products in a cocktail manner. Curls slowly returned and now look great! Not sure why Deva Curl stopped working for me . . . .
Use this alot

I love it....works wonderfully for us curly haired ladies
Just stay away
Curls from New York, NU
I don't think I've ever written a review for anything before, but as someone who relies heavily on them I felt it necessary to write one now. I used to really love this gel and other Devacurl products, but as time has passed the texture of my curls look almost as if there's some heat damage, when I haven't used any heat appliances in months. Some curls are more defined and coiled, whereas others lack shape and some even look straight. I can tell that my hair has begun to thin near the part down the middle, and near my edges. My curls now look frizzy at the end of the first wash day and extremely dry and dull on the third day. It's been seriously upsetting watching the health of my hair deplete after years of working hard on it and taking care of it. After so many women have recently spoken out about their experience with DC products, I realized what the problem was. Please please please stay away from these products if you love your curls.
Made my hair fall out
Sad and half bald from Pennsylvania
I used this product since 2016 and it turns out it was the cause of my hair loss that started in 2017. I stopped in August 2019. I finally have a few baby hairs growing. Hopefully my whole head will recover.
ruined my curl pattern
jas from california
my hair is a tattered mess, loss of curl pattern leaving behind a horrible frizzy bird nest, havent had a good hair day in a year. after using devacurl products for a year my hair is damaged and doesnt even look like my hair anymore
Val from Los Angeles
This whole line is ruining people's hair!
Do Not Use
Miller from Long Beach
I have used this product for years!!! I started noticing about 2 years ago my hair was dry and brittle. I was loosing so much hair. I went to my doctor to get thyroid and hormones check and everything was normal. I recently returned all my recently purchased product from Deva Curl and bought curl Smith. I didn't make the connection before, but with so many other women suffering from similar issues I will never purchase Deva Curl again. I am already seeing a difference in the moisture of my hair. Not I am working hard to recover where I have a bald spot! YES A BALD SPOT. Don't buy. Stay away
Do not buy!
Red from Okc
It has pulled the curl out of my hair almost completely. I think the only way I can fix my hair is to chop it all off and start fresh
Dont use its garbage
Em from Illinois
Yes the 1st time I used it my hair looked beautiful. Bouncy, not sticky, shiny, and defined. Then I notice about a month or so later my hair looke dry. My scalp had blisters, itchy, and tons of dandruff. I lost hair and it looks like straw. I wont be using yhi6and reccomend noone use it. Now I'm trying to fix my hair and almost start all over with my hair.
Vanessa from Oregon
I don't know if this gel has caused my scalp to blister and scab, I doubt it since I don't let the product touch my roots. Pretty sure it's from the no point shampoo. I liked this gel at first. I used it with only devacurl products. I don't mix brands ever. But after some time I noticed I didn't want to use this gel anymore because if I don't rinse my hands with soap and cold water immediately after, my hands would dry out. I mean they turned white and started to look like they wanted to crack. The way I see it the thick skin on the palms of my hand can't even handle applying this product then what is it doing to my hair overtime? Couldn't return as it was too late so my entire devacurl line is sitting under my sink incase they do a recall!
