Every winter as the air would start to get dry, the problem would worsen and become almost unbearable by January and February. My scalp was so itchy that it would become inflamed and even get small scabs in some places from my scratching. This was accompanied by significant hair loss especially around the hairline. I tried everything but nothing worked. This year I went to my doctor who told me to try a dandruff shampoo. I had tried dandruff shampoos before and they had not worked and actually made it worse. I had used other Nioxin products before and really liked them. They were great for my hair but did nothing for this condition during the seasonal outbreaks. So I decided to try their scalp recovery shampoo and conditioner. Within three weeks of daily shampoo with this product the itching had completely stopped as well as the flakes. My hair has now grown back and I lose very little hair when I wash my hair. I now don't use anything else. I have really bad seborrheic dermatitis and this shampoo use to work so well that I didnt have to apply my medicine. Well, until a few weeks ago when my new bottle came in and i started noticing my scalp getting flaky and itchy. Then my face too. The shampoo worked so well that I hadn't had any flares on my face either. At first I thought I was getting a flare from stress or hormones like my dermatologist said would happen on occasion or maybe my body had grown resistant to shampoo. Well some of my family have sub derm too just not as bad as me and they started complaining of their scalp being more flaky and itchy (we share s & c). Now after a month of still using the this shampoo and conditioner I've had to go back to using my medicine and my flares are more frequent. This is really disappointing I had found something that worked wonders for my scalp and overall skin. Though I should mention sometime last year they were out of stock for a few months I couldnt find it on any website and when they did return to stock it was all new packaging luckly i had my bought some extra bottles for home, gym, and bf house and managed with the clinical strength H/S before they were available. Nothing has helped until i started using this. I will say there are all still flakes on my head but it's totally manageable. I have severe seborrheic dermatitis. I had 2 bad instances after their formula changed when the s & c just wasn't making any difference. I got really disappointed because its not cheap.I've bought new bottles in between and after those 2 times and it worked its normal magic healing powers. This s&c continues to be the only thing that helps my scalp and skin feel normal and trust me I've looked and tried all kinds of remedies. I don't need to use my medication when I use this.
