I have to say that it is the best results I've gotten yet. I've tried all the different Hair Loss shampoos and this is the best. Within a couple of months my hair was growing in again. I couldn't believe it. It is still a little thin, but it's MUCH better. I can't believe it. Its definately not for my hair type. It breaks the curl pattern BAD and by 2nd day it looks and feels as though I hadnt washed my hair in a month or more. I gave it a chance and have used about a half a bottle of the shampoo and conditioner and the results are the same every time. Awful looking and feeling hair as if I didnt rinse enough or rinsed too much. I dont ever use this word, but I looked RATCHET. Ive never been embarrassed to go to work on bad hair days, but this was next level bad. Waves go stringy and straight, and ringlets look like they have given up on life. Ends of my hair turned into that feathery damage that you get if you bleached your hair one too many times. I had "red dessert wine" highlights, they looked like damaged auburn blonde after the 2nd wash. I DO however like the Night Density Rescue. Same light tingle, doesnt seem to weigh my hair down. Last week my scalp felt really irritated, and after using this shampoo and conditioner, my scalp feels great and my hair is so soft. It's so shiny and feels so healthy. I have bleached mids/ ends and have been searching for something to make my hair feel hydrated at the ends but not greasy at the root- and this does it for me. I began noticing this this when I stopped taking birth control after 6 years of taking it. I don't write reviews often, but these before and after pics are so drastic that I felt like I should give credit where it is due. These two pics were taken about a month apart. PROS- it works, and it started working quick! I've always had baby hairs, but in the past, they seemed to stay the same length and haven't grown since I was like 14 years old. With Nioxin, the hairs were growing so long I looked like I had bangs. CONS- first time I used this I broke out in hives. Burned my back, my arms were bright red. It's really strong stuff. (I do have very sensitive skin) Another side effect to these strong chemicals, is that my hair got super dry. Although I have chemically treated my hair, it has always been oily. I only washed my hair with nioxin 3 times a week and my hair was still breaking really bad and began looking very damaged. Ultimately, this is why I had to stop using it. Also, after I stopped using it I stopped seeing improvements. I think in most cases, hair loss is something that a specialist must look at to determine what the real cause is from. I have recently got my blood work done for a dermatologist to evaluate so I can find a better long term solution. In conclusion, I think Nioxin is a great start toward hair growth. However, it seems to be a very temporary fix. Especially since the ingredients do not make it sustainable to continue using, since they cause so much hair breakage. The slip in this shampoo is amazing and the menthol/mint feeling is just what my hair needed. I typically will cowash and use super moisturizing shampoos but research revealed my scalp needed more cleaning. This shampoo thorough cleaned my scalp and it felt so amazing, like if you have that my scalp is not clean feeling, this is the shampoo for you. I ordered shampoo from Kerastase and Morrocanoil and have already decided I will always use this shampoo at least one time on wash day. I am hoping too goodness the Morrocanoil and Kerastase work wonders like this one too! I am not quite sure if I really need the conditioner so that may cut down on costs but this shampoo right here is a staple, no need to try to find something else for that clarifying feeling. Yes you will get that squeaky clean feeling but I should note I only use it on my scalp and let it run down the strands when washing. I have a bit of thinning on my crown area and it's still a little noticeable after a month. I'd say it helped about 10%. Overall thickness maybe about 20%. I wouldn't purchase this again. However, my mom had used nioxin in the past and really enjoyed it. I guess it's different for everyone. For me, I didn't notice a huge result/difference.
