When I realized that wasn't the case, I was worried to put it on my face because I have oily, acne prone skin and didn't want to exacerbate the condition. However, I applied it anyway and was pleasantly surprised how much my skin improved. My skin has become less textured, my breakouts have decreased, and the redness has significantly subsided. I also find that my skin is less oily than it was when I was using a gel moisturizer marketed for oily skin. This Cerave container is also very large when used only on the face, so I suspect I'll have this for over 6 months when used once a day. I have used dozens of facial moisturizers over the years (gel, lotion, acne-fighting, thick cream, etc.) and this was has beat them all, including my previous high-end Korean brand. I will definitely repurchase this when I run out. **Small suggestion: I recommend you purchase the Moisturizing Cream that comes with the pump. I find half a pump to be more than enough for my whole face. The pump stops me from accidentally using too much product, plus it's more hygienic this way.Most Helpful Critical ReviewNew Formula is watered downI used to really be a fan of this brand, but ever since L'Oreal bought their company, they water down their hero product. I have old jars that list all the good ingredient like their ceramides, cholesterol, and hyaluronic acid above petrolatum. Now, they're listed below potassium phosphate, which is just an ingredient to adjust pH, so basically there's next to none of the good stuff now for the same price. Now the hyaluronic acid is so low that it doesn't even do anything, it's just there for their marketing. I used it pretty regularly for almost a year, and I would say it left my skin really soft and clear looking in some areas and protected it well from the sun. I wear a mask at work all day and when I took my mask off at the end of the day my skin would look so soft and moisturized. However, the area around my jaw and my nose would often shed or pill up. I wouldn't wear foundation over it, as it will make it look patchy and slide. The technique I found to work for me was putting a small dot on my face and then slowly patting it out and using very light strokes so as not to unwantedly exfoliate my skin. As a paler White person I didn't notice it coloring my skin much, but I'm pretty sure it would leave a white cast if you have a darker skin tone. Its either very hydrating and moisturizing but breaks me out. Or not enough moisture and leaves me needing more. This solved EVERY problem. I have very sensitive skin and this product never gave me an issue. I have purchased this product over four times and im very satisfied with it. This has never broken me out which is saying something because it's pretty easy to with my skin. Just recently ive found out about the night option which is great because you dont need spf at night. But its so great that it has sunscreen hecause sometimes i forget to put on my sunscreen and it gives me reasurrance that I already have it on. The main caution I'd warn about is if you have combo or oily skin, I think it has a harder time absorbing. In my case, I sit on the combo side and get dry patches but have other oily areas. I think its a bit too heavy for my skin in the summer time and i would likely need more of a gel type moisturizer.
